Emma + Baelfire = Swanfire

You know, of late I have been pacifying myself by pondering that perhaps his death is less about his return than about his death. So the death needed to be quick, and they could not do it logically, so they did it OOC – because it did not really matter, he just needed to be dead in order to return him. But I suppose that is the optimist in me speaking, just an alternate way to look at it. It would explain the idiocy, while still allowing it to be story-driven. And I actually DO incline towards it being story driven and not BTS. It’s on my schedule to examine that a bit more later tonight. (Assuming episode discussion does not take over.)

I expect to see him in 319/320, even if just in flashback (which would suck!) 320 would make sense to me – if we get August, from Kansas, tied to the Wizard, from Kansas, plus also August/Neal backstory. We had that door filming pic, and I know I’ve read a couple of theories, but I still lean more towards new footage. I mean they’re paying the guy, might as well use him for any loose ends tied up as well.

I realized yesterday that we were inside a month to 321 & 322. I can hold out for one more month before I close the storybook on this situation.

The hardest part for me is knowing that I probably can’t walk away fully. Even if I grow to really dislike the direction of the show….this place (ONCE Podcast) is still home. I’m still here an ungodly amount. I don’t know if I can fully quit.

I’ll just have to take my “ARG” someplace else

I’ve seen very few “Neal will come back” theories–most people seem to think 1) that he really is dead and 2) even if they can turn it back, they want MRJ far away from the show that treated him this way. I haven’t seen anything to suggest that MRJ is singed for S4.

 

yeah. They have not treated him well. Even before the death, he wasn’t given enough screen time nor do I think they wrote to his abilities as an actor. He’s better than the scripts he was given.

Re-read all the OUAT Lightening Rounds from TV Guide, to see if I am misleading myself, hanging on to a ‘straw’ of hope. BUT the wavering only lasted less than a minute. It is only logical, that storytelling requires detours now and then to keep the storytelling interesting and the audience curious to see what happens next.

From Lightening Round # 6:

Even though Neal is engaged to Tamara (Sonequa Martin-Green), is there still hope for him and Emma?
Kitsis: This entire show is about hope. We would never suggest you lose it for anybody on this show.
Horowitz: There’s always hope on Once Upon a Time

From # 12:

“By killing Neal ( Michael Raymond-James), have you robbed Emma of a happy ending? Kitsis: Yes, and she will be miserable from here on out. No! We haven’t robbed anyone of anything. We’ve always said on this show that happy endings are something you have to work for. They don’t come overnight.”

and

“Is there a chance we could see a flash-forward on Once?
Horowitz: Probably not.
Kitsis: Never say never”

It’s the “never say never” ‘golden thread’ that I am holding onto.

I hope the writers found a way for Baelfire, while at his father’s castle, put together a protection spell for himself after he and Belle find the key to the Dark Ones’s Vault and after they overhear Zelena’s conversation with Lumiere.

We never saw Baelfire’s body recovered from the woods or put into a coffin. Call me a rosy eyed optimist, but I still have faith AE have a happy ending for the Swanfire family.

I think we’ll get one more appearance of Neal for 322 for some magical “goodbye” to Henry and then that’s it. I really and truly can’t put any stock in the “he’ll be back” theories. They way they chose to end him, for me, singles that they wanted it done quickly so that he’s forgotten as soon as possible.

1) 1100 pages 🙂 I’ve only been here for the past 250 but I claim it as home. 🙂

2) RG, I vote you ARG right here for eternity. The thing I have learned is viewing the show through a certain goggle is to have a particular understanding… so we gotta stick together.

3) YES, I totally forgot to talk about the fact that we saw a) a body left in the woods and b) a closed coffin. Bestie roomie has brought up on MULTIPLE occasions the weird lingering zoom in on his face in the woods and how she feels it’s important. This show has a history of protection spells and the like, my headcanon is that when Rumple closed his eyes, he did… something. He felt his beloved Bae was safer from the WWW “dead” and has a plan (TLK?) to fix things once they defeat her.

To follow up on my earlier insane-sounding “my life is weird” posts, a few minutes ago I was chilling in my living room, windows open, when all of a sudden DSB started playing from outside somewhere. I don’t even know where it was coming from lol… perhaps the apartments across the way. Because… why not?

Cause this story needs some mending & a better happy ending...
