Daniel hypothesized that he thinks Hook’s secret wasn’t so much significant because he admitted feelings for Emma, but rather, Emma helped Hook realize for the first time in a long time, he could move on. I think that means Emma will help Hook realize that he could find someone new, even if that woman is someone other than Emma. Perhaps a blond fairy will help Hook feel better
Daniel is quite smart, isn’t he? I think he might be right. Hook even says that he never thought he could get over his first love, Milah. But Emma is showing him that he can. But it’s not with her because Hook isn’t even on her radar. It’s NEAL. it has always been Neal. It WILL always be Neal. But for Hook he needs to learn, like Regina, to “love again.” And I think his feelings have been misplaced this whole time. It wasn’t deep undying love he felt for Emma, but it was knowing that he is capable of loving again.
And I so on board CaptainFairy. I loved their interaction in 303. I was seriously considering jumping the Good Ship Hookriel after that episode.

Slurpeez’s entire post just made me whimper. I just…*sigh* I was so worried what her secret would be. I thought, “time to ramp up the triangle once again and she’ll declare that she has feelings for Hook.” But this was…this was TRUE. And HONEST. And totally EMMA. It’s the scary big emotions she has trouble with. It’s easier for her to think him dead than to have to face all the love she feels becuase she is so scared of it and the power LOVE TRUE FREAKING LOVE can have.

Not yet! They need to get Henry back first and then really get through all the emotional baggage. I want Neal to give Emma the necklace back in a moment where they’re admitting that they want to be together and that they not only still love each other but are totally IN LOVE all over again. I’m not gonna lie….I keep imagining how that scene could go between them and not once do I get through it without crying, LOL 😆

Ah good point. Yes it should be at a time when she’s ready to be with him again. And then he gives it back.

I was on the edge of my seat when Neal said, “you know this isn’t how it works” when she was trying to use his sword to open the cage. And I was gripping my seat handles as I feared that she was about to break his heart by admitting feelings for Killian, just like how Milha broke Bae’s heart when she fell for Hook. But, low and behold, Emma says she realizes she’s never stopped loving him and likely always will. She’s just emotionally still too vulnerable to deal with all of the past hurts at present. That is what NL does to the poor girl; here she is defenseless and without coverings. NL causes her still to feel like a lost little girl who never felt loved by her parents and who has a hard time believing she could ever feel special enough to be loved. Yet, here is Neal reassuring her he’s never going to stop fighting for her. He’s never going to give up hope that one day she’ll realize all the love that he has for her. And here is Snow telling her daughter that the only way she’ll ever get her happy ending is to hope. HOPE. Hope for a second chance.
And in a parallel flashback, here Regina was telling Ariel that there are no second chances at true love. Yet, even though Ariel thinks she missed the boat with Eric, I predict she’ll get her second chance with him. And we also know that when Regina said to Ariel there no second chances, Tinkerbell had already revealed to Regina her second chance by leading Regina to her soul mate (aka Robin Hood). And yet Regina ran away from it. It was just such an excellent parallel the writers made: Regina denying the possibility of second chance is contrasted with Neal’s statement in 3×3 that fighting for Emma and Henry is his second chance at a happy ending. *crying*

I have renewed hope that we’ll be seeing that swan pendant again some day. In my dreams, I envision Neal and Emma sitting in the yellow bug again, and Neal pops out the pendant and goes, “I got you a keychain!” And Emma can’t even pretend to fight back a huge smile because in her heart, this is exactly what she always dreamt of: Neal coming for her, Neal fighting for her, and Neal trying to make up for everything because he missed out just as much as she did on the home they always wanted. And then, Emma puts on the necklace and whispers, “home.”

YES YES YES YES YES YES. I don’t do parallels to other couples or other media very often but this was a total set up. And second chances are a theme this season. Regina, who lost her true love the same way Hook did, gets a second chance hopefully with RH. Hook now realizes that he wants a second chance but the problem is that he has misplaced his emotions. He thinks what he feels for Emma is love but it’s really just knowledge that he can move on.
And then, Emma puts on the necklace and whispers, “home.”
