Thus, now, when all signs point to CS, we’re still trying to say, A&E are capable of more! Look at all these cool breadcrumbs, blah blah blah. There has to be more! And, well, no there doesn’t. If we look not-so-hard hard, there were plenty of plot holes and contrivances before this; but our ship still sailed. The hope of a happy ending allowed us to overlook things because, well, we believed in the big picture. Now, instead of #hope and #nospoilers, it’s just #nohope and #spoilers. What you see is what you get. Breadcrumbs and clues are accidental or residual effects of SF being the original endgame (before being derailed by BTSBS).
Exactly. I *love* all the evidence DSB and Phee find, but I also see it as us searching for something–anything–to keep hope alive. And maybe they are doing it intentionally but I also don’t think it’s foreshadowing anything we want.

Can she be salvaged? Notice there’s a few of us still sitting on board like she’s gonna suddenly go somewhere. There are others just arriving who don’t understand what’s going on. There are still others just gawking at the travesty of it all. But for the most part, it’s just an irrelevant oddity that can be visited but serves no functional purpose. She’ll remain there… a memorial to good times gone by.
EDIT: And sorry, DSB, no dry dock. There ain’t nobody working to restore this baby… ever. Maybe some painters (fan fic writers) come by and do a watercolor or oil painting imagining what she once was or what she could have been; but there’s no restoring her.

Oh, we know Henry shipped SF. So did Rumple. The people who loved Neal best wanted him to have a chance with Emma, because he and Emma really loved each other and they could all see it despite Emma’s understandable misgivings. Heck, even HOOK wanted him to have the chance–for Baelfire’s sake as much as for Emma’s.
And I can accept Neal’s death if it really was necessary to the story, but I still don’t see it. It still feels like it was an OOC decision to get rid of the character/actor for some reason that they haven’t come forward with. That’s why it hurts so much–even beyond the pain it’s causing for characters I love.
And reading the press release just made me feel like the OOC reason was “We want CS to happen.” I feel horribly cynical saying that….but…that was the impression I got from the whole let’s have Hook and Emma have an adventure without anyone else (at least from their own time). I love Hook, I don’t even mind CS entirely, but…killing the one character besides Henry who connects everyone just for that?

Signs are NOT pointing to CS though. Everything in the actual show has been consistently showing Emma as being not at all interested, they’ve even got to the point where she’s blatantly stating it, right in front of him. The most basic reading of the show, which is the point they’re trying to show to the GA is that she’s not interested. Even with Neal removed from the equation, Emma’s shown no interest in getting with Hook. It’s only if you listen to the online fandom that any thought of CS being headed towards being a thing will enter your brain.
And yes, we SFers dig below the surface for clues just like the other side does as well, but if you look at the surface of SF, what was presented to the GA, it was multiple professions of love and them laughing together as they walked through the woods after having finally been reunited, (meanwhile, Hook says he’s never seen her smile, that’s a contrast that even some of the GA should be able to pick up on if they recall just a few episodes back).
On the most basic level, what the show has shown us is that she loves Neal, and being around him, and she is continually showing disinterest in Hook. I really don’t believe that the writers are headed for a CS relationship, judging by what they’ve shown us thus far.
@Phee, I agree that within the show there has been little CS development. I think I’m more talking about all the chatter, publicity, what we are meant to see/think based on media spin… it’s one giant conspiracy. Likewise, within the show, we were not told that Neal was going to die. Yet all external signs pointed that way. We as SF continue to look at the show for our truth, and I think there’s a good possibility that the truth lies in the BTSBS to which we are not privy.
That’s all. Totally love the hope and feels from everyone (I’m not watching), and I have these moments where I picture myself reading Shatner’s “I told you so” tweet as apparently Neal pops up in the last 10 seconds of 322, and I burst into tears like it’s the best day of my life. Evah. But meanwhile, I’m in Le Tent with a paper bag over my head.

Did it push character development? – An: No
Did it make a huge revelation? – An: Err….Nope!
But it’s got to at least made a dent in defeating the bad guy? An: Hell naw! What show have you been watching?
