Oh, the dreamcatcher is completely symbolic of the unraveling of Bae’s thread. Like with the principal of balefire, he was killed in the past. His thread had been burned back.

I agree wholeheartedly that I want to see that dreamcatcher again, although it has a lot to do with the fact that I think we will ONLY see it if we get MO322 and it is whole again. (Actually, that could be kind of a cool scene, if Emma takes Henry to his Dad’s place to clean it out or whatever, goes in, finds it whole, wonders to herself “wasn’t it broken when I was here last?” and then he walks into the living room. Ah, fanfic, writing itself in my head again…) If we get DO322, I expect it to be forgotten, forever. But if we get MO322, I expect to see it play a role.

Cause this story needs some mending & a better happy ending...

WOW the thread jump 40+ pages since yesterday. o__O Partying without me I see?

dontstopbelievin says – “It’s okay, I won’t need it in NY.” Yes, Hook – despite winning against the WWW, and despite your appreciation, and your near-death, girl STILL does not want to get with you. You know what else Emma didn’t ask for, as a thank you for saving someone’s life? A kiss. She did it because it was the RIGHT thing, not to gain favor.

^^^^THIS RIGHT HERE. I just got around to watching 3×20 and WOW, there is just so much rejection from Emma to Hook. I can’t hardly see them growing into a budding relationship anytime soon when she repeats over and over how she’s not into Hook. Even I’m getting annoyed at the constant push from Hook and Emma constantly putting him down. (And I’m an SFer) She didn’t have nearly as much trouble with Walsh or Graham (Mind you this was POST NEAL HURT ABANDONMENT ISSUES) Even though Hook laid out all his cards and Emma is clearly aware of his feelings towards her, in the end she blurted out she’s planning to go back to NY after she wraps things up. Red flashing signs that means Hook is not even in the forefront of her mind after EVERYTHING.

Oh dontstopbelievin your mega post for epic win. You keep pulling me back to hope again when I guard my heart so much. I’ve noticed that I’ve turned into Emma with mega trust issues against A&E. Not being able to trust them again after they’re betrayal of false breadcrumbs left for Neal and SF fans. Your post makes so much sense and I try not to read it through rose-tint color glasses as an SFer but logically as in what the story shown us throughout the seasons.

And after seeing the behind the scenes pics and promo for the finale, I’m very torn. I want to see Emma in fairy-tale get up, experiencing her true origins first hand. Seeing what her parent’s life is like and how they’ve gotten so far. It’s been my dream to see Emma interacting with DO RUMPLE since season 1!!! OMG! Question is should I suffer 2 hours of CS for those little tender morsel of scenes? And hoping they mention Baelfire at least once?

    What to do…..What to do?

I really like that dreamcatcher theory, though it does say to me that they were foreshadowing Neal’s death at least starting at 3×12. Prior to that I still argue that the signs were pointing elsewhere. You know, not dead by 3×15 elsewhere.

I wish we could get a straight answer out of Adam about Bae’s name.

I do too, but we probably won’t, at least not until the end of S3. Too many spoilers. But it wouldn’t hurt to tweet the lady who does the TVGuide Lightning Round. Were you inspired to name Baelfire in light of Wheel of Time?

DJ kitty has taken your dance party song suggestions and made a playlist.

Wait, are we getting an Emma/Gold scene ?

Better. It’s an Emma/Rumple scene, in the past, when he was at the height of his imp-ish Dark One glory.

Random thought after reading a fanfic that brought this up… but an important possible missing puzzle piece theory as to one of the main reasons Emma spent two years in Tallahassee despite everything that went down after she was arrested.

Loved that whole post, Jaxer! Can’t believe I’ve never really thought of it from that angle before, but now I have an image of Neal carefully and neatly arranging her few personal possessions (including the baby blanket) in the Bug and how lovely that is, and how much it must have hurt for him, and how Emma must have felt when she found it, wondering exactly what it meant and if it was a clue for her to go to Tallahassee, and FEEEEEEEELS. (Agonising headcanon I’ve always had: Neal WAS in Tallahassee, and he DID see her from afar, but knowing that he couldn’t interrupt her destiny he didn’t let HER see HIM, and being near her was too painful, and he couldn’t trust himself to stay away, he found himself rehearsing how he’d explain everything, and realised she wouldn’t buy it, she’d just call him insane and rage at him, and it was all too agonising, so he had to leave town.)

This bit of your post made me think of a Thing…

Neal: Listen, I’m going to go meet the fence. I’ll meet you with the money. Remember where? The parking structure by the tracks.

…because people had been mentioning NYC Serenade in the few posts before Jaxer’s, I recalled something about railroad tracks in that song…

Billy, he’s down by the railroad tracks, sittin’ low in the back seat of his Cadillac,
Diamond Jackie, she’s so intact, she falls so softly beneath him.

It’s so infuriating that the same writers who bury these gems all through multiple episodes can get some of the BIG glaring, obvious stuff so off and hole-y.

What would be the perfect season 3 finale? Baelfire opening his eyes.

    *screen blackens, cue credits*

As of right now, I’m not dreading the finale in the way I usually dread finales, because of the agonising long hiatus that comes immediately after, I’m totally ready for the break this time. But if they did THAT, the hiatus would be completely agonising.

Jaxter – That ending would be epic beyond biblical proportions and send shivers down my spine.

you know, because I am so sure that we will have MO322, I decided to watch 316,

    I watched 316
but I am so heartbroken right now that I don’t think I can possibly stomach the rest of the episodes…. I actually have physical pain all over my body from this episode. oh man, the funeral…. the cage…. the funeral…. the cage…. I can’t.

you know what? if all the episodes are so painful, I think I will just watch the finale and maybe only the part where Bae comes back. whay did they call 3B fun again? fun for who??????

I can’t even begin to describe how much pain I am in from watching 316…

DSB, I could have quoted just about every paragraph, and I think I still did quote about half of them anway, even attempting to show restraint. Get out of my head! LOL

To start at the beginning of the episode, and to back Slurpeez up on what she says – the wheel imagery. Between the cuts back and forth between Rumple and Snow’s chair, and the frentic music, it definitely creates a heightened sense of urgency. “Round and round the circle of time, racing towards the finish line.” Yes, yes we are. I also think it’s interesting that both of those wheels were fine, but back in Dorothy’s crashed house scene, the wheel (prominently focused on at the beginning of the shot) is broken. It makes me think of the broken dreamcatcher; both the wheel and the dreamcatcher symbolize time in WoT and having both broken indicates something is off and not right with this timeline. Perhaps it’s that OUATiW concept of “not her time” but this time with Bae and not Ana?

Got nothing else to add to the WoT/dreamcatcher stuff, just wanted to say a big WORD to everyone commenting about how it’s totally a Thing.

Hook, for his part, argues that it was based on falsehoods – “It wasn’t real.” It’s funny to hear Hook pointing this out. If he has such a problem with Emma building her future on anything apart from the absolute honest truth, real, true memories – perhaps he should start by telling her everything about who he REALLY is. The only reason he even has a ghost of a shot (which is really no shot at all) is because she doesn’t know about Ariel, Blackbeard, Milah, etc, etc.

I don’t wanna get my hopes up, but with Blackbeard being credited for 321, I’ve begun to wonder if the truth of how Hook killed him is gonna come out. To make it all fit, I’m guessing that the reason Hook knew about BB in the missing year is because they have a history from around the time of Snow Falls, which is what we’ll see a bit of in Snow Drifts. If Hook’s acting weird about seeing BB in the past, could that perhaps lead to him confessing to Emma the truth of the whole situation with Ariel and how it went down? *squashing down my hopes about that happening because it probably won’t*

A happy ending with Hook is not what the girl is looking for. There is (apparently somewhere in time, still is, lol,) a guy out there who aligns perfectly with what STILL CURRENTLY IS her idea of a happy ending. It was her idea of a happy ending a dozen years ago, still is now.

For real. The fact that they flat out stated that there is a WHEN where he still exists, and now we have a time travel spell activated, it just, how are those two things not gonna be connected in any way? Surely they must be connected somehow? Especially because they’ve not shown her have any interest in moving on with anyone else, and keep up with little hints about SF and their perfect fit-ness.

I am less than ten minutes into this episode and she has turned him down or expressed annoyance at least a half-dozen times. She is CLEARLY not interested. There is NO reciprocity in this relationship, and he’s pushed it to the point where he’s no longer friend-zoned (as he was in, say, 3×18 where they hung out in the diner) but rather an annoyance to have around. Annoyance seeps out of every pore and she hasn’t had a kind word to say to him. If the writers seriously plan on turning this around in 3×21/22 it will be pure and simple idiocy.

I know they’ve been doing the thing lately where they do give characters an OOC 180 so fast it gives you whiplash, (looking at you in particular Neal and Snow), but yeah, seriously, coming right after this ep where Emma was consistently beyond done with him, it’d be the most EPIC case of whiplash ever if they made her fall for him in the space of one double episode.

At most, they told us Henry wanted to stay in SB. That fact could have been established in a million ways, without devoting an entire scene to it. The *only* purpose of this scene being included was the dialogue, the parental-history shout-outs. Although it was less iconic (and I hold it less dear, personally,) than the car-thieving scene, it in a way almost holds more weight, because it was only there as its own thing… if that makes any sense.

Also, it wasn’t exactly a long scene, and the SF shoutouts were, like, every 2nd or 3rd line in that short scene, which is pretty impressive really.

Glinda said to Zelena, about the pendant, “Guard it with your life, because in many ways, it now is your life.” Got it. Pendants are important. Ok. Well this is definitely the first important pendant necklace we’ve ever seen. Wait, it’s not? Oh there is ANOTHER important necklace in this show? Well, it’s a good thing they never draw parallel lines, because that would imply the thing contained in THAT necklace is, in many ways, the wearer’s life…

I have been wondering if Emma’s powers are now being stored in her pendant, the same way the Oz witches’ powers were stored in theirs.

Toto will tag along on all of these, and just like in the original Oz story, I suspect Toto will be a liability that causes Dorothy to miss her original trip home.

Judging by the promo, Emma’s getting sucked to another world by a thing that looks like a tornado (back during the Rumple/Bae portal scene, Rumple even says it’s like a tornado), and Hook’s gonna follow after her and be her companion on her journey where she tries to find a way back home. Maybe there’s a reason they’ve been writing him increasingly like a lost puppy dog, it was character development for this storyline. Maybe Neal telling her to find Tallahassee, even if it’s with someone else, was just foreshadowing that Hook would be her travel buddy on this journey where she discovers that her family is her true home and they’re where she belongs.

And in the last scene, Glinda makes a vow, “Then I will find someone else to fulfil the prophecy. As long as I am in Oz, I will not stop searching, until I find someone to stop you.” Yes, I know she was banished to the EF – but she was still searching. And man, Emma needs a win this season!

And when Snowing blurted out Emma’s name, that basically told Glinda the ID of the person she’d been looking for to fullfil the prophecy.

Glinda says about Zelena, “Now gone, her magic will be undone.” This is a CLEAR reference to the concept of balefire, where once you burn someone back, things that they’ve done (in particular people they’ve killed) are back – those things never happened. We saw it exhibited with the shadow and the Blue Fairy in S1; we saw it with the monkey and Little John later this episode. Once Glinda is “undone,” that which she had wrought SHOULD be fixed.

We follow this up with Zelena’s comment, “Once I change the past, you and I shall meet under different circumstances.” Rumple’s promise, then, is, “No matter where you go in time, I will find a way to kill you.” This is a promise, a vow, and we know how Rumple takes those. It is also significant foreshadowing. Once past-Rumple finds out that future-Zelena caused Bae’s death, she’s toast. In the past, balefire-style… thereby undoing the death of Baelfire.

I would have zero problem believing and accepting that Past!Rumple would find a way to kill Zelena before she had the chance to kill his son. He didn’t have so much of a conscience back then, and knowing that time with Bae was still in his future, how could he go about getting that if he now knows that it’s gonna end? Past!Rumple just wouldn’t stand for that.

Interesting note: Dorothy’s slippers were gold. Implication: silver slippers are still with Glinda. Available for future use?

I’ve seen a few people in various places saying that about the slippers being gold, but if you look at the wider shot, they’re definitely a different colour to the gold bits in the floor. I think it’s just that in the closeup shot, they’re reflecting some of the gold from the floor. But they’re the silver slippers, which fits because we know this was happening around the time of The Doctor because of what Zelena was watching of Regina’s training, and that’s the time when Jefferson told Rumple that the slippers had moved on when he got back from Oz, and we know that Rumple is after the silver slippers. So it all fits together.

A last thought – I think I talked about this last night but I wanted to articulate it again. The end of the episode, when Rumple did whatever he did to Zelena – I guess (I am not sure) the implication was that he killed Zelena, but once she was gone, she reinvgorated her magic and used it to open the portal. Not sure?? But I am wondering if the “how” of what Rumple did to her was not so much kill her, but to spell her somehow, causing the portal to open. There are only two people who had the motivation to open the portal – Zelena herself, and Rumple, who could well have been putting a fake front in the farmhouse kitchen after she introduced the idea he could go back and retrieve Bae. It would be totally IN character for Rumple to make that happen. Also interesting is that she didn’t so much “die” as she was derezzed – disintegrated in pixelated form – which was foreshadowed when Henry was in the diner with Mary Margaret playing his gameboy (cradle cap scene.) So he derezzed her, and caused her pendant to go all smokey green and re-open the portal? Perhaps. I guess if the portal was programmed to go back to just before the traveler’s birth, it would explain why it went back to SF and not the time of Cora and Leo – who knows.

I guess it depends how much Rumple knows about those witches’ pendants and how they work, and how much he was able to deduce about the time travel spell. He did know about Glinda though, including that she was banished and where to find her, so it would stand to reason that he’d know a bit about the Oz witches and their magic. And I didn’t really buy it that he wouldn’t even be tempted to change the past to ensure Neal wouldn’t die in the future. What would be in character is if, after going back to his cage after dinner, he sat there all night formulating a plan whereby he would be able to do just that. So maybe his stabbing her WAS just part of his plan to reactivate the spell, to be able to change the past and save Neal. That still doesn’t excuse how he lied to Belle. I guess, “I’ve just gotta pop out to travel back through time to change the past,” probably isn’t a thing that Belle would condone even if it hadn’t involved killing someone. If he’s planning to go as far back as the portal to not let go of Bae’s hand, that means that he and Belle are never gonna meet when he does this thing, so he couldn’t tell her that either. And if this WAS his plan, then he knew that this was his last chance ever to propose to her, before their whole relationship gets erased. But I still really wish he hadn’t have proposed to her with a lie! GAH!

Unfortunately, though, I am emotionally attached… so I am nervous. It “seems” like it all fits perfectly, but then, when do things go as they “seem” with A&E? I don’t know.

Yeah that’s the problem. It all seems like it could fit together and make perfect sense, but actually trusting that it WILL, given how we’ve been burned this season, that’s not exactly easy.
