Emma + Baelfire = Swanfire

I don’t think Emma’s gonna go see Rumple until after she’s buggered up Snowing getting together though. Then she’ll go to Rumple for help, and he’ll be all, “I dunno you, why would I help you,” and he won’t believe she’s a time travelling Saviour because no one can travel through time, but if she busts out the, “I know your son, Baelfire, you let go of his hand over the portal and that’s why you need the Curse, to find him,” that would make Rumple listen to her. I think someone mentioned this in a previous post a bunch of pages back, but all it would take would be for Emma to slip and refer to Neal in past tense and Rumple would demand all the details. And it doesn’t matter if Zelena’s in Oz, Rumple can access magical lands easier than our world if he puts his mind to it, and “No matter where you go in time, I will find a way to kill you.”

I don’t think for a moment that Emma will successfully avoid changing anything about the past. Something will go wrong, which is why she will have to try and correct her mistakes, but history will still be altered somehow. I just re-watched BTTF and Marty ended up changing the course of history. Marty managed to warn Doc about getting killed by 30 years in the future. Despite his protests about not wanting to know future outcomes, Past Doc eventually gave in and read the note and avoided death in the future. Other events changed too, like Marty’s dad stood up to Biff and as a result, became successful later in life. Marty’s mom lightened up and became cool. Marty’s brother became a businessman and his sister came out of her shell. History was altered just by Marty, despite Doc’s warnings about tampering with the past. Marty’s very presence was enough to alter outcomes for the better.

Back in the EF of the past, Emma will interact with Rumplestiltiskin. He’ll figure out who she is. Rumple: “You’re not supposed to be here.” He’s going to figure out eventually that his son is dead in the future. And don’t forget the threat that Rumple made to Zelena in 3×20: “No matter where you go in time, I will find a way to kill you.” I’m thinking once Emma lets past Rumple know what Zelena did in the future, past Rumple and Emma are going to find away to defeat past Zelena once and for all, thereby preventing the death of Baelfire in the future.

I’m with RG. I think that tweet of the studio door months ago was MRJ documenting his last day on the show, and he won’t be back. A&E have made a lot of promises over the run of the show, and their track record of actually following through in the first place, as well as following through in a way that is actually satisfactory to the fans is pretty terrible, IMO. So I’m firmly in the #nohope camp, though I would love to be proven wrong. I almost dare A&E to prove me wrong. Until that day I’ll be in Sad Town, watering the sad, dead garden in front of Onyx’s sad house.

RG, you’re right that what’s been promo’d so far doesn’t look like it could lead to Neal coming back–and the biggest problem is that Neal’s life is set up as a trade for Rumple’s atm. There are infinite ways to write around that (I mean, they saved David after crushing his heart for crying out loud!) but only time (hehehe) will tell if they actually choose to do that.

@Phee – We’re totally on the same wavelength. I posted before I’d even read your reply. hehe Admittedly, I’m not 100% convinced by my own predictions, but having newly watched BTTF, the plot for 3×21 is almost an exact rip-off of that movie. And going by the movie, chances are the timeline will be altered.

Slurpeez is right, there is NO chance that they don’t mess something up. I mean, Hook is fighting with himself so there is that. But I feel like going to Rumple is “we messed up please help.” He does say “what have you done?” And then he’ll tell them how to fix it. Rumple HAS to have Emma nd Hook fix whatever they do because if they don’t there is no savior to break the curse and find Nealfire. Emma is only to going to tell him a tiny bit: I accidentally prevented Snow and Charming from meeting and falling in love. THAT wold also make Rumple want to help Emma without Emma having to give anything else away

Even if Emma doesn’t give away what happened to Neal in the future, I predict she’ll at least tell Past Rumple about Zelena. Future Rumple’s threat about killing Zelena in the past will be actualized. And don’t forget the prophesy from Glinda’s Book of Records. Someone will travel to Oz in a cyclone and defeat the ultimate evil (i.e. Zelena). Dorothy wasn’t the one the prophesy predicted, since Zelena faked her own death when Dorothy threw a bucket of water on her. Zelena is still in Oz somewhere plotting her evil plans. I think Emma will go to Oz from the EF via a tornado and defeat Past Zelena once and for all. Zelena dying in the past ensures Baelfire lives in the future since Zelena wouldn’t have been there to lead him astray at the vault of the Dark One.

I had a thought. What if when Rumple and Emma meet he never manages to get her name (because names are powerful), but he figures out enough to know that she’s Snow and Charming’s child, which is why he’s so insistent in the pilot to get her name. And knowing A&E Baelfire won’t get brought up at all in the past. Because they’re like that. *sigh*

And see,  I predict Emma won’t tell Past Rumple about Zelena because “that’s too far” in the writers mind. It would undo every bit of S3B and the writers won’t go that far because it also erases all the development of S3B between Regina/Robin and Regina/Snow and they aren’t going to mess with their favorite gal. Emma asking for Rumple’s help in getting her parents together : fine. Emma telling Rumple about Zelena and ensuring her death in the first place: not fine.
