BTW, on my list of “things that must happen someday,” Emma *needs* that mobile. It just kinda hangs out in Gold’s shop, like no one bothers with its significance. Sometime before this series wraps, I really need for it to make it into her hands – to be hung wherever she decides is home.

    Omgosh. PREACH.

I don’t know. If they’re going to release their **own** spoiler, and then come out and try to sell it as Neal (“he’ll live on in our hearts and flashbacks”, TVLine saying it was Neal), then what does holding off the official official nail in the coffin statement until DO322 do but tick fans off even further? The only possible reasons for not confirming the spoiler is (1) SoD is still out there or (2) they are offering a glimmer of false hope to retain some viewers. Well… what did they themselves say about false hope?

IMHO, his #nospoilers tag does not excuse him from responding to his own *#$&@ spoilers. And at the end of the day either Neal lives or he gave false hope through this specific tweet that the SoD was still in play (meaning Neal was not it).

The mobile could be a gift from her to her baby brother. Hung over his crib. Rumple and Belle could bring it to them cuz THEY’RE FAMILY.

Also, I’m scared…I’m getting hopeful again…like hopeful enough I almost believe Neal really will come back…that’s dangerous.

Have legit hope at your own peril. I’m clinging to cynicism that won’t let me believe what they’ve shown aldready, as opposed to real hope to believe they’ll show us something different before the end. We’ve come up with various plausible explanations, but the writers have been acting bizarrely of late, so who knows where their heads are at and if it’s in Senseville with our theories.

I am totally not caught up on this thread because I’m about twenty pages behind, but can I just throw out the potential hilarity of conversations between Emma and full-on Dark One Rumple?

Emma: I know you’ll help us.

Rumple: Oh? And why is that, dearie?

Emma: Because I know where your son is.

    Rumple: (stunned into submission)

Emma: He’s in Neverland. (beat) With your dad.

    Rumple:…With…my…

Emma: Who by the way is the third man in your family to brazenly hit on me at first meeting, despite being permanently fourteen.

    Rumple:…

Emma: Is it a family thing, or what?

    LOL ouatrandothoughts

About the unicorn mobile, either Emma using it for her own future child or her giving it as a gift to her brother are both 10000000% acceptable to me.

About the dreamcatchers, there was also some discussion a while back about a trinket that was hanging inside the edge of her crib and whether it was a tiny dreamcatcher or just a teething ring or something. I still maintain that whatever it was, it looked dreamcatchery.

Haha! Unfortunately, once again, I think the quality of writing in this thread/forum has a tendency to outshine what we actually get!

So um. As for True Love, all the canonical true loves (TLK has had an effect) on this show have an interesting feature: The male in the pairing has ACTUALLY sacrificed his life for the other.

Philora: Phillip went to the wraith believing it was death for him. We still don’t know how Mulan and Aurora rescued him, but he did sacrifice his life for Aurora.

Snowing: David’s been willing countless times, but Snow actually crushed his heart and killed him before they divided up her heart to share.

Rumbelle: It was for Bae, too, and had the side effect of saving everyone else, but Rumple totally died for Belle. Actually died for her, until Neal brought him back.

Emma & Henry: Henry ate the apple pastry knowing it would be cursed. I think he believed that Emma could save him when he did it, but it was still a sacrifice to get her to believe.

The only case that isn’t so clear cut is Regina & Henry, but one could argue that he believed when he gave up his heart that he was saving magic in part for her.

There are some cases where the woman has definitely shown willing to give up her life or sacrifice a lot for her true love, too–Snowing, for example, when Snow bites the apple. But this is quite a long list of men who have actually died for their true loves only to come back again.

    Help me, I’m hoping….

I’m afraid I’m of no help Keb, because I think you make an excellent point. 😉

I’ve had a really hard time smashing my hope down the last few days, so I’m no help. I’ve finally gotten to the point where I’ve accepted I won’t be so far into RG’s tent as I’d like to be at finale, and worked instead on detaching. I was doing pretty well this past weekend – being sad and low and “nevermind, I forgot they were all stupid” but then we end up with junk like pizza and lobsters and compasses and I just… can’t, you know? I can’t not see what I see. To me, personally, I see a few too many pieces of the puzzle having been intentionally aligned to be like, “Yeah. It’s all in my head.” Or to be like, “Yeah, this stuff exists, but it’s remnants of the fact that SF was original end game, but now they have changed course.” There is too much stuff, too far into the episodes (well past 315) for me to genuinely sell myself on that. (I’d like to buy a teenage apartment-hunting car theif for $200, Alex?)

BTW what has ever given Henry logical reason to think Emma would sleep in her car? What an odd statement to make, taken from that angle. Anyways.

All I can do is try to prepare myself for the possibility that despite all that I clearly see, we are still not getting what we want. Henry is just being Henry, wise beyond his years. Compass is just a nod to the directional witches of Oz, Emma going thru to find her “home” has no bearing on compasses directing her home in S2, being significant in Tallahassee (“Home”) or directing two convenience-store-thieving lost kids home in 1×09. Pizza is just a quintessential NY thing. Pendant return is just to pacify the fans. Anti-Hook stance is just for dramatic effect when they turn it. Etc etc etc.

I don’t truly believe those things, but I have to try to make myself. The potential for having another night like the one after 315 is too great otherwise, and I still haven’t gotten the tear stains out of my pillow. 😉

I think Ranisha says it best – there is WILL and there is WAY. Way is cake; they’ve had way since 315 itself. Hi, that guy dying in your arms? TLK is a really legit thing to try – maybe his Dad (who totally ships y’all!) could suggest it. If we can burn coconuts and split hearts and and and, a little TLK is a cakewalk. But no. We will instead bust out Timey Wimey things and alter the past… where we enlist help from the ONE guy invested more than anyone in ensuring the guy stays alive. There’s a way, oh, there’s a way.

But is there a will? I posture that there is. I am slowly becoming attached to the notion this story was long-planned; it’s alluded to in Pilot and pulls together a few series-long breadcrumbs. So A&E themselves may reside on team SF and see this as an amazing culmination of an epic love story – she turns back time to save him, yo! – without realizing how much it SUCKS to sit on this side. I can appreciate a lot of pieces of this story, if I look at it from the perspective of “knowing” that’s where it’s headed.

But if they *don’t* have that will, no amount of logic will make it so. If MRJ wanted out (no concrete evidence of that) or they wanted to go CS (which sure isn’t the story they are telling,) then dead is dead and here we sit. THAT is the piece I will tell myself, over and over, for the next four days. Because the STORY tells me MO322 is the logical conclusion. But believing that and then ending up at Sad Town would be a dangerous situation, indeed.

Cause this story needs some mending & a better happy ending...
