It still doesn’t make sense. Graham’s death hurt, but at least it made sense. Pan’s death was the only way to stop him. Cora, too. But Neal’s death was just so not the only way to handle ANYTHING we’ve seen.

I’m hoping they’ll feel a little more free to explain why after the finale. Because I just want it to make sense. That’s all.

Having watched 320, it’s because they think Rumple is much more interesting as the Dark One. And they want to give him as much magical mythic drama as possible, instead of human drama.

What doesnt make sense is to bring Neal for flashbacks, for what? I mean Graham, Peter Pan, Cora, are connected to the past of many characters so there are other stories to be seen, but Neal doesnt have stories to be seen now that he is dead, sure he is connected to Henry ,but se saw many of Neal and Henry interractions on SB, we also saw Rumple and Neal interractions, the same with Emma. Also their past story was pretty much covered on 206, so no more for us to see, the past year is done , he only left his father body to send the message, so what more can they show?  Also if they like him so much why kill him?

Well…that makes my choice not to watch easier. The sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach really must mean that I had some hope deep down. #Nope

    X

I know it’s over. But that doens’t mean I jump ship. They were real. And they were good. And they were true love. And I loved Neal very much. And I’m going to miss him from this show for however long it lasts.

So RG, do you think you’ll step down as forum moderator? I couldn’t see myself wanting to be one in your shoes, but for the love of the community.

Ya know, I was on the fence about watching the finale, especially about watching it live (I haven’t actually watched an episode live since maybe 313), but all the interviews today, especially that last one have made my decision really clear.

    Dear Adam and Eddy,

I think it’s time we break up officially.

I truly truly loved this show. Probably more than any other show before. I loved the story and the characters and the way everything played out over the first season. I stuck around for seasons 2-3A out of faith and loyalty, even when a lot of the people I knew who watched it had jumped ship. I didn’t listen and I held out hope that things would get better, and instead I’ve had my heart broken, because I followed the breadcrumbs to a story that the birds had already eaten away, and I can’t say I like what has been left behind.

Neal made the show worth watching for me. Made me willing to see past the glaring plot holes, poorly developed storylines, and the lack of deep character interaction. I could stomach it all because I believed in the hype that happy endings were possible, and that Neal was amongst those who deserved it the most, but sadly I was wrong.

Do I expect A&E to write a show that caters only to whom and what I love? No, but I honestly, with no malice or word of a lie thought I was watching a completely different show to where we have so far ended up. Maybe I had too much hope. Maybe I was too naive. Maybe I was just plain blind, but Once Upon a Time, the REAL show, isn’t for me anymore. For me all that’s left is the community and the fanfiction, and artwork that made being part of this fanbase so amazing, but the show itself doesn’t want me and honestly doesn’t need me. The story A&E are telling is not one I want to see anymore, and as much as I don’t want it to be okay, it kind of has to be. I’m just a number. I’m just a demographic. You can’t please everyone.

So to A&E I give a slow clap. You had me sold from episode 1 and I would have followed you to the ends of the earth to see the characters you brought into my life have a happy ending. Thank you for reminding me that not everyone gets a happy ending, and that in all likelihood that will also include me. I will be wiser with my choices in the future, especially my TV viewing ones. The heart is too fragile a thing and I deeply regret giving mine to you.

Best of luck on your finale ratings, and I wish this had been an amicable breakup.

No. I’m here for good. Despite my heartache, I’m not parting with the show.

Fist bumping and co-signing your Dear John letter to Eddy and Adam so hard.

If they would come out and say that they had had some issue with MRJ or he wanted out, I might’ve stayed on out of creator loyalty as a casual fan ala my demotion to casual fan of Downton Abbey from super obsessive, flew to NYC with a friend to see Dan Stevens on Broadway fan. But as it all appears to be “part of the plan” (which I will never believe) then…I’ve got no interest. Once has just become another Nihilistic soap (is that a thing? I just invented it) and I’ve got my own screenwriting aspirations to pursue.

They can “part of the plan” all they want. I watched the first several seasons. The plan was Lost Boy + Lost Girl find a family. Nothing anyone says will ever, ever convince me otherwise. The story was AMAZING, plotted out and sprinkled throughout. And then they killed a man for a ship. It is what it is, you know? The industry is political and stuff happens behind the scenes and it sucks. MOSTLY, I’m disappointed in myself for choosing to ignore what I know about the industry. This ain’t my first rodeo (though I can safely say it will be my last.)
