yes this is right. they DO pander to fans but not on such a large scale. fans want more Belle? fine she gets some story. fans want regina and Hook to apologize to Belle? fine, they do that. it isn’t done very well, but OK. (I happen to find these little scenes annoying, but OK)
they will never completely change the course of the whole story for fan pandering. maybe they are s-t-r-e-a-c-h-I-n-g it a little, you know? maybe this Hook/Emma thing was supposed to last less screentime, but because of the CS explosion they gave it some MORE screen time, but it was never meant to be and it won’t be.
The writers have said a few things that make me think this is not Emma and Henry’s fairytale, but Rumple, Regina and Hook’s, and Emma and Henry are simply the tools to give them their happy endings, rather than characters who are consistently written
I understand that if you may think that this tale is no longer Emma and Henry’s and is now Regina and Hook’s tale, OK, maybe it would make sense, but it can’t ever be Rumple’s fairytale without Baelfire, so I don’t know how you even think that.
anyway, stop listening to the interviews. I can see TONS of loopholes in what they say there.

I’m getting ready for work at the moment, so I don’t have time for anything new. Will this suffice for the time being?
Also, I just want to say that I think the level of discourse in this thread is the direct reflection of the people who are posting in it. We have run the gamut from insightful and inspired to angry and heartbroken, to just plain crazy and off the wall (I will admit to being a direct factor in some of these… oops!). If people have issue with the way this thread has gone and the things we have discussed, then they need to be a part if the discussion so they can help steer the direction it goes, rather than just observing. And this is coming from someone who lurked for MONTHS before actually engaging in the discussion (and look where that has gotten us with talks of trains and bison and Sad Town…).
I have loved every moment of this thread, mostly because it has been a safe haven to speak my mind about what I have so deeply loved about this show, as well as what I have sadly begun to dislike immensely about it as well. I’m not a naturally positive person, so having a place to vent and cry with other people who get it has probably been the only reason I’ve gotten through the last 6 or so weeks without having to find some other outlet, whatever that may be. And to know that I’m not alone in my interpretation and feelings about events has been reassuring at a time when I needed it most.
Also, I hate that we’re losing good people in both this thread and the fandom because the show has changed on us. This is probably the thing that I’ve been most afraid of all week, that the finale would come and go, and so would the familiar faces here and my forum home would turn into the Sad Town ghost town that I’ve spent weeks joking about (but secretly afraid of). And now it looks like we’re about to watch it all happen before our eyes…
I have more to say, but I have to run to work, so I will leave the rest for later.

Well, Rumple wants Bae, not Neal. Gepetto got Pinocchio back, not August. That is what I think they will do, eventually if enough Rumple fans complain who are not Rumbellers who secretly think as Pan did, that he should just make a new child and move on. I am sure most Rumbellers do not think quite like that, wanting to erase Milah and Cora from Rumple’s romantic history, but I have seen a few comments that people would not be displeased by that sort of downplaying either. Outside this thread, who cares about Neal as Neal rather than as a character for another in the story’s sake? Rumple getting back his boy, not the man he was forced to grow into, is more in line with what Rumple wanted. As for Henry, he will get two step papa so… “NBD” for most fans. Epic wish fulfillment for everyone except fans of Neal.

If this is consider bad, imagine what would happened if Hook was the one who died as he apparently has a bigger fanbase.

"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"I agree that there are loopholes in the interviews, but I also have seen those loopholes go from large enough to drive a truck through to the eye of a needle. Certainly, you can still thread a needle – but it becomes more grasping at straws. So those of us hoping for Neal-as-Bae and final SF TL confirmation are left with the fleetingest of chances.
It would be complete idiocy, IMO, to tease “you can go back in time to get Bae” and then ACTUALLY do that AND have them discuss Bae… and then leave him dead. As GA, I would be SCREAMING at the TV in frustrated astonishment. But then, “idiocy” would be such an apt descriptor of 3B that – although I do have hope (darnit!!) – that I just can’t rely on it. This story SHOULD bring Baelfire back. The way the last half-dozen episodes have been written thus finale SHOULD be Hook getting Emma’s rejection through his thick head, and Baelfire’s return. If I was GA, that’s what I would expect. But I’m no longer GA, and I am privy to statements that indicate the exact opposite will happen, and for me personally, the emotional stakes are too high to go in without a guarded heart.
I just… this fandom has become the best part of this show. Regardless of which side we’re on, whether we approach tonight with optimism or pessimism, some compassion should be had. If you expect to party tonight, awesome, but respect that others may feel differently. I stay here, in my house, because I know others here “get” me – but I try to realize that even as SFers we all see the story in different ways & approach that with compassion. (Yes, this is completely hypocritical with my earlier post… I draw the line at trolls.) I expect that no matter what happens tonight, there will be losers – Bae returns, Bae is forever dead, CS gets TLK, SF gets TLK – and frankly, no one should be gloating. If you feel like you’ll be saying “I told you so,” put the shoe on the other foot – how will it feel if you are wrong?
Anyways, getting ready to fly & my confirmation number starts with “MO.” I’m gonna take that as a good omen, keep that glimmer of hope in my expectation of defeat. Primarily, I’d really, really like to keep my show, and I think I can do that if they reinforce that “no means no” – even without the return of Bae. So I guess I am just hoping for a story where it is organic for the characters and some sort of solid message is sent. In the meantime, my guys, you know I adore you and more than anything I hope for MO322 so we can stick together. DO322 would be devastating in more ways than one, but it’s not my show, so it will be what it will be.
10.25 hours, then we’ll know.

I’m all for groundbreaking stories, but why trample a true love couple to get there? Why make the genre “soap” rather than “fairy tale”?
ALL OF THIS. The on-line fans are writing too much of this story. Its okay for a few things here and there but they are catering far to much at this point. But hey its their show, they have that right to let the fan groups write it for them.
The writers have said a few things that make me think this is not Emma and Henry’s fairytale, but Rumple, Regina and Hook’s, and Emma and Henry are simply the tools to give them their happy endings, rather than characters who are consistently written. So we have Henry who accepts Regina, rejects calling her a villain, even though that means he does forgive her killing people so long as they weren’t people he loved and knew. He would never have forgiven her if she’d helped to kill the Charmings or Emma. Perhaps even Archie’s death would have been too much, but once he found out it wasn’t Archie that died? No problems! So who cares about people in general, the right thing in general, for this show dismisses all that even in the character’s mind set who is supposed to most represent the heroic way of thought.
All this KFC, its not about Emma and Henry anymore, its about three villains being redeemed and becoming heroes and someday getting a happy ending. That’s fine and dandy but I guess I wish they would have set that up from season 1.
How can I admire this? It’s like the curtain has slowly slipped, and I’m staring at the conman and his show, and feeling quite disenchanted that this fairy tale isn’t a fairy tale at all. Whatever it is, soap with magical plot fix its, its not going to change.

Beyond that though, I’m not sure what their intentions actually were. Did they intend for Emma to reciprocate? You can listen to the Tallahassee podcast and some others from around that time, if they don’t delete them, and they call Anton a kindred spirit, perhaps even more than Hook to Emma. Say what?! Remember, Hook didn’t trust Emma about Anton. How can a kindred spirit not be a kindred spirit with a kindred spirit!?
they also referred to Neal and Emma as a Kindred spirit, so they tossed that word around like water. If you think about Emma was kindred spirits with several characters if this show… but I do know Neal and Emma shared the same goal, they were lost, abandon, love each other, and wanted home and family.
