This isn’t directed at anyone but I’m just going to remind us all of the rules (everyone is doing fine but I need to be fair in my moderation)

    1) Respect all ideas, beliefs, interpretations, theories, posts and posters. Thoughtful and considerate debate is one thing. Down right hatred and disparaging of another group will not be tolerated.

    2) Ship and let ship even if that ship is no ship. If you want to scream about how much you hate something, go someplace else.

Thanks RG. I think I know what you’re referring to….some fans are resorting to ad homonym attacks. Let’s  rise above it and set the better example for our fellow fans. We’re all Oncers after all. Happy Once Day!

Yes Happy ONCE day! It felt like Ariel took *forever* to get here but I was surprised at how quickly 307 has come. Here’s hoping for a good episode all around!

Going off of this positive mojo, I’m looking forward to the following in upcoming episodes:

    • Emma, Neal and Hook getting some good screen time. Should be awkward and perhaps painful, but yet that is somehow part of the draw. Jennifer Morrison confirms that Emma and Neal talk about their past. I want to see Hook and Neal getting to talk about their history together.
    • Getting to see more flashbacks of young Baelfire and Hook in NL past. I’d like to see Hook have actually tried to rescue Bae.
    • Possibly getting to see flashbacks of Neal’s life before “Manhattan” and possibly getting to see August again. Adam and Eddy confirmed this might happen. Possibly, we might get more information about what happened to Neal after he left Emma and how August was the one who called the cops.

It’s hard to tell from the clip but seriously, can MRJ be more awesome with how he uses his eyes to convey Neal’s emotions?! Wow. I am beyond impressed with him this year (and I loved him last year too).

I agree.  He is subtle at times, but the character he’s portraying isn’t always shouting and angry, but often keeping a cork on a maelstrom of emotions that would probably wreck many other characters.   Another thing that I see as in tune with Emma.

RG: I agree with what you said, for some reason the writers so far have decided not to have a conversation between Emma and Hook about his past actions, and it gives the impression to the audience it is water under the bridge to her, to Hook, but it may be that she simply bottled it up as irrelevant for now.  She needs her son back, then she can deal with the baggage in the relationships with either man, and they can deal with their issues with each other.

That leads to the reminder from RG. Always good to remind ourselves of the value of different points of view and the importance of promoting an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome.  It helps to remember that sometimes what we dislike is what others like the most and people do identify and attach to the characters and stories.  That perspective can be valuable to understand as the writers say they do this for the fans, and we are but one part of it.  They have a lot of people to “serve” as Jane E once said, so the way the story unfolds may hew closer at times to what others want to see than what we do.    When that is the case, well we can be considerate in how we express either disappointment or celebration.  We should avoid being like S1 Regina, celebrating other’s unhappiness more than what makes us happy in and of itself.

Oh please let their be some CaptainFire scenes tonight. I need to see their relationship in the present day. It would help a ton both ship and non ship wise.

other things I am looking forward to!

A trio of awkward. I have a feeling it will be both cringe worthy and amusing

Watching the trio of awkward fight shadows! How cool does that sound?

Honestly, I’m looking forward to Emma reading both of them the riot act and reminding them about Henry

and I know this isn’t the right thread buuuuuuuut

my OTP are being “reunited” tonight through an enchanted sanddollar phone call. I have waited so long…!

This is honestly the thing that annoys me most about the hypocrisy of fans who hate Neal while blindly loving Hook. Neal gets a lot of hate for leaving Emma and allowing her to go to jail, even though he did so to get her home; yet, Hook somehow gets a free pass from CS fans for leaving Emma for dead, ignoring her pleas to return home to Henry. Hook would’ve left Henry motherless (unless you count Regina) by leaving Emma to rot in a jail cell. It’s so inconsistent, and I hope Emma brings this up to Hook at some point. Hook is not someone who values Henry or has his best interest at heart. Neal, however, is Henry’s father, and therefore would lay down his life for his son.

Was just reading a tumblr post that fits with some of what slurpeez was just saying…

A rant about the word Deserve

Ok, I’m new to this tumblr beastie, but I’ve got to say something about this. I’ve been seeing this word pop up A LOT in the nealfire tag.

    Deserve.

“He doesn’t deserve a second chance with Emma!” “He had his shot and he abandoned her!” “OMG Neal, would you stop talking about fighting for Emma, you didn’t before, why would you now!?!”

Does Regina deserve Henry’s love? She’s killed people, tried to brainwash him, tried to kill everyone in town so Henry could be truly her’s and her’s alone.

Does Rumple deserve Belle’s love? He’s killed, done awful things, and he kicked her out and chose power over her.

Do the Charmings deserve Emma’s love? They chose to let her go when she was born and she grew up unhappy and unloved because of it.

Does August deserve Geppetto’s love? He wasted his life, made selfish decisions, didn’t take care of Emma and ran away from facing his father after the curse broke.

Does Hook deserve Bae’s love and affection? He had a hand- pun!- in Milah choosing freedom over her own son. He is part of the reason Baefire didn’t have a mother growing up.

Does Rumple deserve Bae’s love? He was a coward turned power-crazed luny who killed people in front of his son and dropped him down a portal.

Does Jefferson deserve Grace’s love? He chose to go back to his thieving ways and let her go to travel to Wonderland where he was trapped for years and years while Grace was alone, without her papa.

And finally, why are we not all asking why Emma deserves a second chance with Hook? She abandoned him on the top of a bean stock to be left behind in Fairytale Land.

Or maybe why does Hook deserve a second chance with Emma? He abandoned her to rot in a cell in Fairytale Land, never to see her son again.

“Well that’s only because freaking Neal left her behind and abandoned Emma first!!!!! She was scared to trust because of what he did”

Ummmm, excuse me, but if anyone is entitled to the I was traumatized so I made a terrible decision excuse, it’s Neal. He was abandoned by his mother, his father dropped him down a portal because Rumple was scared and wanted power, he had to let go of a wonderful family that took him in and loved him because of magic, he was betrayed by hook, left on an island to be harassed and psychologically battered by a deranged teenage boy and God knows what else he went through.

Nobody’s denying that Emma was hurt because of Neal. but why is Hook’s pain romanticized and signed over and used as an excuse for the mistakes he’s made but Nealfire’s is dismissed?

Nobody on this show deserves love because love is not something the can be earned. Trust is. Respect is. But love? Love is a gift. It is something freely given, sometimes in spite of who we are or what we’ve done.

And thank God it is because if not, none of our ships would sail.

So, Hook deserves a second chance with Emma and is clearly going for it. Good for him. But so is Neal and if Hook and Regina and Rumple and every-freaking-body else gets a second chance at happiness then why shouldn’t Neal?

This is possibly the best, most concise summary of everything I tried to say in the CSF thread over the summer. No one is perfect and all have fallen short of stated ideals. Both Neal and Hook are vying for another chance with Emma, since technically, both men abandoned her, though Neal’s motive was to get her home whereas Hook’s was to make sure she didn’t get home. Yet, form where I’m sitting, we’re all still rooting for Hook to get his chance at redemption, even if we don’t see him and Emma ending up together. So, where is the equal love/enthusiasm for Neal to get his shot at redemption? It’s pretty much confined to this thread. If Regina, the tyrannical ruler who slaughtered her citizens in the hundreds, gets a second chance at love, then surely Neal does too? Even Emma, who gave up her son to give him his best chance, may not “deserve” Henry according to Regina enthusiasts. Does Emma deserve a second chance at motherhood with the son she gave away? Well, regardless of wether she does or not, she and Neal are fighting for a do-over at parenthood….why not a second chance at love with one another? Rumple doesn’t “deserve” a second shot at being a dad to Neal after he let go of Bae. Like PP said, he could just start over with Belle and have some new kids. Yet, we still long to see the day he finds redemption and reconciles with Neal. Why? Because we all long for a another chance to make things right.

That post is fantastic, thanks for sharing! Yes, love is not something one earns but always it is a choice between two people.  We know that love cannot be forced by magic.  Sometimes people love because of things, sometimes despite things that happen between two people.

Right thread or not, RG–I agree it’ll be nice to see some happy moments.
