I finished the episode about an hour ago (had to watch it late because we went out for Mother’s Day dinner. Curse you, New York Rangers [even though I’m glad you won]), and I’m angry. Really, really angry.
This episode truly was, “CaptainSwan, The Movie!” All the hope, all the chance….Gone. I was seriously angry at how Emma just KISSES HOOK. I MEAN, JUST A DAY AGO YOU WERE ANGRY AT HIM FOR ALMOST GETTING YOUR SON KILLED. NOW, YOU’RE ALL, “I love you! Kiss me, you pirate who I only know what you’ve told me about yourself!” WHATTTTTTTT.
When Emma got herself out of the dungeon, just saying, “It’s all about the thimbles.” It got me. I really, really felt how much they loved each other.
Also, this is a theme I noticed: the ENTIRE TRIP COULD HAVE BEEN WITH NEAL NEAL could have been the one to have fallen through the portal. Rumple wouldn’t recognize Neal. He could’ve given himself a false name – again! This ENTIRE adventure could’ve happened with Neal, not Hook.
But A&E went all “Bahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahaha nope.” Their great vision for this show went down the toilet.
AND THEY NAMED THE BABY NEAL. I WOULDN’T HAVE CARED IF THEY NAMED HIM “PRINCE SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS.” BUT NO. LET’S NAME HIM NEAL. THEN THEY HAD TO FLASH TO RUMPLE ALMOST CRYING ABOUT IT. I MUST BRING THIS BELOVED GIF BACK TO THE FORUM. #DO322

Btw, does anyone else feel that Hook gave Emma a bit too much credit in one of his speeches. He said that she defeated Pan and Zelena, but that’s not entirely true. In fact, in both cases Emma had very little to do with it. Rumple killed Pan and Regina disarmed Zelena and then Rumple killed her aswell. And while I’m at it, Regina broke the second curse with Henry. What exactly is Emma’s purpose these days?

Not only was she angry at him for the Henry stuff, but she also flat out said that she didn’t wanna kiss him a day ago. I said before the ep aired that it would be ridiculous and unbelievable if they had her do a 180 in the space of two eps, and I stand by that.

They’ll sit on the shelf until probably finale, when hopefully they find some sort of crazy Lost-esque way to get these two crazy kids to Tallahassee.
Shiny new crack headcanon (it might be the wine talking): Belle didn’t kiss Rumple until AFTER this point in time. So, when she did that, it negated the memory potion and he remembered that his son was gonna die. The reason he made Blue cough up the Black Fairy’s wand (how did Blue get that from Rumple anyway?) with the Pan stuff is because he knows it’s the only tool he’ll be able to use to get his son back. Which won’t happen until the final season.
It’s completely unbelievable, Phee. (Erm. Cross-posted. The 180 is unbelievable. The headcanon is great!)
If this is ABC thing and CS is a mandate, I can understand that, and I can understand Neal needing to be dead for that to happen, I can hold A&E harmless for that. Where I do lay blame, though, is for how they opted to tell this story. You need CS by 322? Fine. How about you leave Neal dead after 221, or “dead” as I suppose the case was (even better,) and spend 22 episodes logically developing it as a love story? I still would not be pleased, but honestly, we would have been without the SF buildup in 3A, we would have been without Emma’s constant rejections of Hook that made CS send all the WRONG messages, and it could have been a gradual buildup that felt organic. That making out at the end of 322 could have been an “earned moment” that A&E were so fond of talking about. But instead, it was a 180, not just of the season but within the episode! It turned on its heel there at the end, for no other reason than to be exactly what it was. THAT part, I can and do fault the writers for. It wasn’t organic, it wasn’t earned, and there is no reason in the world it should have been.
Cause this story needs some mending & a better happy ending...

With respect to the headcanon – yes. I do appreciate that they left themselves a modicum of wiggle room, by Rumple being told in the past. If I understand correctly, in the film, Marty was left to think Doc had destroyed his future clue, but indeed Doc had made a different plan. If A&E are able to finagle their story back – ratings drop, ABC backs down, Colin leaves, finale, whatever – they can leave themselves that loophole and have Bae out there “somewhere” for Emma & Rumple to go find. I don’t expect it soon, and I maybe expect it never, but I feel better knowing that door is not closed, permanently forever.

I’m just so sad.. I can’t believe I’m feeling like this all over again. I feel as sad as I was feeling after 3×15.. only angrier. I mean to some extent I feel like the real life is perhaps happier than OUAT. Why would they do this to us?! WHY??!! I was thinking today that it would have been easier to watch the finale if they didn’t constantly remind us of how amazing and lovely swanfire was (and it still is for me).. and then naming the baby neal and showing a look of appreciation on rumple’s and emma’s faces.. Just NO! don’t make it any harder for us.. that’s just so cruel!
I mean come on if I had lost someone I loved I would do anything to get them back and I sure wouldn’t beg someone to let them stay dead and then save a random woman knowing it’s risky since the whole point was to not change the past! It hurts so much! And with everything Neal did, he didn’t even get a goodbye kiss when he was dying?? and then letting go of a ship gets a kiss in a heartbeat?! al-righty then.
Sorry for the rant guys.. I just feel so sad! 🙁 I hope to never get this emotionally attached to a show.. I feel like they’ve killed all the things I value in life.
