I can’t think of a time when Emma tried to save Neal other than when she kicked Tamara’s butt and tried to hold onto Neal’s hand over the portal in 2×21. I don’t think that Emma did anything to save Neal after that, and she in fact sped up his death by separating Neal from his father in 3×15.

ParticipantPeople can get so infuriating at times. This is why I like this thread, because we have bison. You can’t go wrong with bison.
Keeper of Thor’s Hammer, Will Scarlet’s Genie Bottle, Emma’s Gun, Emma and Henry’s Moment at the Castle, Cora, and the infamous Family Tree!

ParticipantCorbin that person you are talking to is a troll avoid discussing things with them at all cost.
And you are right about what you said about Neal, at the end of the day his memory was an inspired Emma to regain her magic back on her own.

ParticipantOne of the most frustrating things as an analytical viewer is that so many other viewers seem to accept whatever ad hoc explanations are given to try and skirt around “the rules” previously established on the show. So, to them it doesn’t matter if Snow didn’t have to pay a price for casting the second curse or that Charming gets to live, despite the “dead is dead” rule. Neal must stay dead, and yet Chraming gets to live because Snow must have her happy ending. Never mind now that Henry, Rumple and Emma must have a piece of their happiness removed and Neal never got his second chance at happiness. Too many viewers are too quick to accept exceptions to the rules. “Snow and Charming are exempt because they have the truest love,” but that explanation is almost an insult to the love of other couples of this show (e.g. Regina, Leopold, Emma, Robin Hood and Hook all lost their loved ones in the past). I don’t accept these sorts of explanations, since it’s so inconsistent and too convenient for there to be so many loopholes.
Now we’re supposed to believe that Past Rumple, who spent centuries looking for a way to find his son, would’ve just accepted his death. No matter that Rumple in 1×19 said he would love nothing else, do nothing else except get back to his son. No matter that Rumple killed, plotted, schemed, and scarified himself in the end to give his son a second chance at happiness. No matter that Rumple’s sacrifice to save his son is now in vain since Rumple lived and his son died, but Neal has to stay dead so that his sacrifice wouldn’t be in vain. Just throw that out of the window for PLOT, because Neal has to stay dead for Captain Swan to happen. It’s so contrived. *head desk*

ParticipantYou’ll find me in the fields of fancy where children play on castle-shapped moon-bounces called Tallahassee, next to a beach where couples cuddle, gazing lovingly at their families. The baby bison meander in their neighboring pastures eating dandelions as the SF clan gazes wistfully from the wrap-around veranda of our cozy ranch home, singing “Home, Home on the Range.”

ParticipantHUGs to DSB’s mega post a few pages back, your post was a total reflection of the way many SF fans felt as well.
@ Phee. I’m sorry you had to go through that. I could relate to that with a similar story. I encountered a guy when I was younger during a volunteer program. He started following me around. Being friendly, doing nice things for me. And I was grateful but it was clear that he was doing those things because he liked me, but I wasn’t interested in him.. I made clear signs that I wasn’t that interested without trying to be mean and tried to excuse myself when he was present. But he still stuck to me like glue, trying to volunteer at the same stations as I was. It just got very uncomfortable but I didn’t want to hurt his feelings since he was being nice. But finally it just was too much and I had to let him down. Needless to say he didn’t take it too well. Visibly look upset at me whenever I was around him. Made me feel bad because his emotions where all over the place, even other volunteers started to see. But it’s just another reason why Hook’s approach towards Emma doesn’t sit well with me. Because he had that same obsessive personality as the man I encountered and kept stepping over Emma’s personal space, kept pushing, kept doing nice things expecting something in return. And we are being taught to give in. Who knows what Hook will do if Emma did actually reject him. He went from rampaging revenge to chasing Emma, to probably drinking himself to death and Emma being blamed for driving him towards it. It’s just not right for a show to portray these things as “romantic”.
@ Corbin I think I know the exact person you are talking about. I’ve encountered her many times on IMDB forums whenever I had less than favorable things to say about “Killy” because of what the show presents to us. She ALWAYS comments about my being a sour grape about Bagel (her favorite nickname for Bae) being dead even when the conversation had nothing to do with Neal. I would just put her on ignore. It does wonders for your blood pressure. She’s an example of the extreme cases that goes by her own little logic and will always think Hook is born a saint.
