ParticipantAfter the meltdown and bad behavior of some shippers after Comic Con, I almost feel odd owning up to shipping anything. This should be fun, and whether the writers confirm or contradict what I think I want to see or saw, this show and character’s love lives are not worth hurting real people’s feelings over, by being disrespectful to each other and the creators/actors of the show.
If SF turns out to be no more than a brief a stop along Emma and Neal’s journey in the story, I will simply say thank you for the fun, and get busy shipping something else.
In the meantime, there are some SF bits of CC’s interviews and panels I want to discuss. I know this is a spoiler-free part of the forum, so giving some space in case I mention something. Not sure how the blacking out stuff works anymore.
(Space for the spoiler-phobes)…..
When the moderator, Keck, asked MJR about landing in FTL, it sounded like Keck made a deliberate pause between saying Mulan… and Aurora and Phillip. Then he brought up that apparently “fans” are shipping Neal and Mulan. I LOVED GG’s, MJR and Eddy’s and J.Mo’s responses, because it was exactly what I was thinking. Is anyone really shipping Neal and Mulan on their own merits as characters? MJR pointed out that Neal was really lucky to end up with people who might help him. That’s what I was thinking, not, ooh, can he hook up with Mulan ?
Then, there was J.Mo’s awesome reply to the suggestion, “Watch it. That’s my baby’s daddy.” GG also made me smile, when she demanded someone to “Name it” in response to the comment about this Neal & Mulan ship as if she couldn’t believe it was an actual thing, and she then name-checked Swanfire. Thankfully, because the moderator did not (and I found it odd he talked about Dearies, Evil Regals but not Hookers, instead talking about CS. As if all Hook fans want him with Emma…plenty do not, just as SQ does not mean Evil Regal.) Anyway, I’m positive not all CS fans ship Neal with Mulan ( just like not every SF fan likes Hookriel, Hooked Queen, Sleeping Hook or Hook&Book (ok I made that up, but he spent enough time under them to give the floor second thoughts). If there are people hoping for Ninjafire /Baelan or whatever fair enough, I have my crack ships, and some are mutually exclusive but I ship them anyway. I just found it very odd to bring up that particular crack ship in a very limited time panel.
Luckily, the responses were pretty much everything I as a SF fan could have expected. They won’t spoil the suspense, but I loved Eddy saying the last thing he saw Baelfire do was say “I love you” to Emma. Then MJR saying how he will move heaven and earth and if there’s a captain in the way too–so be it. Perhaps seeing Neal having to struggle to get back to Emma, overcoming obstacles, fighting to get back to her (though not for her, she’s not a prize to be won!), will change some people’s minds that he doesn’t “deserve” to be with her, doesn’t want to be with her, won’t do everything to make sure she has a happy ending. Then, there was DaddyCharming’s “not with my daughter” when the subject of Hook’s intentions to Emma came up.
I do think Charming and Snow could change their minds about Hook if Emma did, but really, everyone’s glossing over this bit: how is Emma going to react to finding out Hook’s Milah was Neal’s mom and Rumpel’s ex? Is she supposed to just think “Oh, how romantic!” Or is it not going to come up somehow? I guess Cora and Rumpel’s little fling never did see the light of day either, so maybe. So much stuff to be swept under the rug, we need the magic carpet from Aladdin to get in the story already (if its not hanging with Jafar in OUAT: WL….now there’s a crack ship–carpet-Jafar!). Ah, maybe my answer to what to do if SF doesn’t pan out.

KeymasterKFC I went ahead and helped you out with the spoiler stuff. You had the code right, but it needs to be around every paragraph apparently. And right next to the beginning of your text.
The text goes in between space. Hope that helps!
Now, on to your actual posting.
I really liked Charming’s response of “not with my daughter. I can’t decide if that’s Charming’s actual mindset or Josh playing the crowd. Would Snow and Charming be ok with CaptainSwan? They are both such moral people and Hook goes back and forth so much.

I’ve seen WarriorFire mentioned a couple of times around tumblr and stuff, yep. Guess I can’t really talk because I’ve been shipping Hook for ages with a character we only just found out is gonna show up, but WarriorFire just seems so completely random.
Then, there was J.Mo’s awesome reply to the suggestion, “Watch it. That’s my baby’s daddy.”
Loved that! Though I get the sense from interviews overall that JMo is just excited to have romantic prospects for Emma now, and she’s not taking one side over the other, I did get a kick out of her little SF exclamation.

I sure hope that some more people see the positive in Neal once this part of the story unfolds. Even if not enough for someone to change their mind and ship it, but at least to not hate the character. I’ve come to feel rather protective of our Nealfire, and it bums me out when people only see his faults.

Surely it will have to come up at some point. How many people actually know the details about Milah? Is there actually anyone on that boat who knows apart from the two men themselves? I could see them ending up having a screaming match and the info coming out. I’d like to think it would give Emma pause, at least a few moments to wrap her head around it.

Hook is seriously ambiguous, however he is attempting to change now, so if his effort is genuine, they may decide to give him a chance. I could see Snow caving before Charming does though. She’d wanna give him the chance to prove himself, but Charming won’t be able to forget the innuendo Hook directed at Snow, and he sure as hell wouldn’t want such a sleaze with his baby girl. I actually hope Charming is anti CS, just for the opportunity to develop that father/daughter relationship that we haven’t seen much of yet.

ParticipantHm, interesting point RG and thanks for help with the blackouts.
They are moral, and also eager to spend time with Emma, and she with them. I can’t picture Emma like a teenager, with the Charming’s disapproval fueling her attraction to Hook in a bid to establish independence from parental control. Emma is a parent too. I see her taking their opinion into consideration but she will make up her own mind. So she might trust him more than they might, but she is not going to dismiss their feelings either. He has not proven himself to them, but they might give him a chance to try, so we have to wait to see.

ParticipantI don’t think Snowing would approve of CaptainSwan because of Hook trying to flirt with Snow, working with Cora, helping GOAT, etc. Hook does do some good deeds but he also tends to screw others over to benefit himself and there’s no guarantee he’d be screwing over the “right” side.

Belle and Bae know about Milah so there is opportunity for Emma to find out about Milah from someone other than Hook. It’ll be interesting to see, because the version Emma hears may not be the way Hook would want her to hear it. Bae might say Hook tore apart his family by taking Milah away whilst Hook might say Milah wanted to escape from her life so he gave her the chance and they fell in love.
Emma has a strong sense of family so I can see there being an issue in the CaptainSwan relationship if the Milah revelation comes about in the wrong way.

ParticipantPhee, I agree, J.Mo. was being careful, and I am glad all the actors try to be careful too, as they know we read a lot into their words.
I also hope the writers spend some time on Nealfire. While it was fun to see a special on “Who is Baelfire”–the character ought to come out in the writing and action, not just in commentary. How would the writers define him in a catchphrase sort of way? We know he’s Henry’s father, Rumpel’s son, Emma’s ex and the first big love of her life, but what else is he doing in this story, besides being the original reason for the curse? He’s not the destined Savior, the Dark One, The Evil Queen, Notorious Pirate, the noble Princess and her Champion, so, who is he? I think his adventures out of NL could reveal him to have a very interesting role to play, like a wildcard, along with his adventures in FTL. Wherever they go with SF, I want Neal to be an interesting character, not a throwaway romantic endpoint or obstacle.
One of the biggest things I wonder about the CC footage, was revealed in the Colin and MJR interview at what looked like a cafeteria setting.
So they talked about how Colin broke his leg, and how they were supposed to have had a scene last season together, but did not. I am SO curious what we might have seen. Their feelings towards each other is really such a big puzzle piece in the whole “triangle”. And I put quotes around it, because like with Cora-Milah-Belle-Rumpel is not exactly a love quadrangle story–even with Cora meeting with Rumpel and kissing him when he was in love with Belle. Things happened in sequence, and we do not know if there will be this dramatic confrontation of Neal returning and Emma torn between them.

YES. What was that scene???

Yeah, but I was thinking about the possibility for Emma finding out while in NL, which would require someone on the boat knowing, but Regina and Snowing have no idea, right? Do they even know that the Hook/Rumple centuries old vendetta is about a woman at all? I could see Emma having that conversation with Hook after a tense moment on the boat between him and Rumple…
Emma: So what exactly do you guys have against each other, anyway?
Hook: Ah, that’s a long story, love.
Emma: We’re in Neverland, we have all the time in the world.
Hook: He took my hand.
Emma: And what did you do to make him take your hand?
Hook: I took his wife.
Emma: *remembering his tattoo* Milah? She was Rumple’s wife? Wait up, she was Neal’s mom?!At the CC Panel, didn’t Colin say, “Well we did share a drink recently,” or maybe JMo said it, I’m sure one of them did. Anyway, maybe he was referring to a scene like this that they’re gonna have on the boat after arriving in NL?
Also, YES to wishing we knew about that cut scene! Though in a way I think it worked well the way it happened, where they were able to have Neal drop hints about knowing how to sail a pirate ship and then showing us that flashback at the end of the season to elaborate on it. They wouldn’t have been able to avoid a straight up reveal of how they knew each other if Hook had been conscious and speaking in NYC.
