The Charming comment was ridiculous. It felt more like a jab at the Nealfire fans than anything else.

Charming’s comment about calling the baby Baelfire instead was just

and not only that, it was quite insensitive to other characters in-show.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but it seems like from season 3 onwards Snowing have just gotten more self-centred and insensitive, something which they weren’t in season 1 or 2.
