ParticipantOne thing I love about SF is the subtlety between them. Neal moving to the side to let Emma in then standing behind her when she using magic. They don’t need big moments or awful romantic speeches to show how much they care about each other, it natural between them.
I
Natural that pretty much sums them up. Emma and Neal are each other heart song they flow together in perfect sync. It almost as if Emma is at piece because her other half is with her. The SwanFireQueen (LOL) family moment, Neal said We believe in you, Emma followed it up Because we Love you and Regina with More than anything. SwanFireQueen family can work!
Love what you both said about them being natural. Great way to describe them! And yes, the SwanFireQueen parenting trio can totally work together for Henry, we now have proof!

yes!!! (hopefully this means no backtracking when we get back to SB at some point)
Family means being together and last night, they were.

ParticipantI think Emma observing the positive ways in which both Tinkerbell and Wendy greeted Neal like an old, beloved friend is so important. Evidently, they highly esteem Baelfire for the kindhearted person he was and is, which is helping to undo several of Emma’s prior misconceptions about him. Here is a side-by-side parallel image, which shows Tink and Wendy looking with amazement and delight at seeing their good friend, Baelfire, again.

Both Wendy and Tink have such positive associations with Baelfire, which goes a long way to showing what a sweetheart he is. Emma being there to witness Wendy saying she didn’t want Baelfire to be without family is huge because it shows how much love exists between them. I’m sure Emma will find out the fuller history in due time. Likewise, I’m sure Emma will discover the positive history between Neal and Tinkerbell. The way that Tink greeted Bae is the exact same way that Wendy greeted Bae, suggesting his relationships with both women were only ever that of sincere friendship. With Hook, however, Tink looked at him like they’d had a sassy, flirty history together. Compare how sincerely Tink and Wendy greeted Neal with how sassily Tink regards Hook:

Even Emma was quick to notice Tink eyeing up Hook and the flirtatious banter going on between them and the way he eyed her up in return. Tink and Hook almost assuredly had a romantic interlude during their time in NL together. After all, Hook is a handsome man with um, shall we say desires, and Tink is an attractive feisty blonde who happened to be the only grown woman on the island while Hook was there. Sparks were bound to fly between Hook and Tink. I think it’s pretty clear what the history is between those two, and possibly could be where the writers intend to take the future relationship between Hook and Tink. After all, Hook did volunteer to stay behind with Tink to watch over the lost boys rather than to volunteer to save Henry with Neal, Emma, Regina and Rumple.

ParticipantI have no idea where they’ll go with Hook and Tink, but I do think Hook is very parallel to Regina S2! I almost wrote a post on that Slurpeez but it got long so I deleted some of it so glad you saw that too.
He is sincere about wanting to redeem himself, but he has not yet figured out that redemption is its own reward, as his motive is still to redeem himself in order to get his own happy ending. The same with Regina in S2, which led to her fall thinking “what does being good get me?”. If his methods are not working, if that happy ending takes too long, he might backslide. I am thinking that won’t happen, as Hook in general is less dark than Regina. He never defined his happiness as everyone else’s unhappiness (just Rumple’s and anyone close to Rumple like Belle and Bae perhaps).
He had some small moments of damage control and he could have caused more collateral damage at various points and chose not to do it. Sometimes it wasn’t his choice so much though, but “plot armor” for important characters (like when Regina interrupted him, or Belle saved Archie). I feel the writers wouldn’t want to do the same story either, but a more subtle parallel if they have it in mind. We’ll see, as it still feels obvious that the writers want to please Hook fans by featuring him heavily in generally favorable scenarios that reveal his better side for now. Whether they will go back to his flaws and weaknesses in a more obvious way (as in other characters calling him out, rather than fans who will obviously disagree about how to interpret his actions), I do not know. One thing I was thinking about the comparison though with Regina to Henry and Hook to Emma, obviously, a child can love more than one parent, but romantic love is a different story (well unless they take the wild approach people were rumoring for MAP!).
At some point, I think Hook is either going to be the person Emma wants or he will have to let her go to be able to fill his heart with someone who appreciates him for who he is, despite who he has been, and may never be again (both the positive and negative aspects). They are all “both”.I think that is one thing Charming and Snow struggle with now, is that David and MM and their somewhat myopic focus on romantic love is peeking out right now, which led to Snow hurting Emma a little bit by saying she’d stay on NL. I think it is a great point that Emma was the one to bring the hope up, and to believe it was possible. She’s believing in the possibility of a happy ending now, and I think Neal’s arrival marked the upward turn in her beliefs. On another note: Yes to what people said in chat about Neal Rowing. While they weren’t alone in that boat, and it was far far too soon, and it is Ariel and Eric’s thing, I couldn’t help but think of that scene “Kiss the Girl” from the Little Mermaid.

ParticipantI just loved Neal in this ep. He’s pretty much lost faith in his old man, but standing up to him like that he was giving him an eleventy frillionth chance to make the right choice and turn it around. Neal’s trying to do better himself, to make up for his own mistakes, and he’s also still standing strong for the sake of his father’s soul at the same time too.
I loved Neal standing up to his dad to help protect Emma and her family! Neal telling his dad to lay off the deals is similar to when Neal returned to his apartment in “Manhattan” when Rumple was threatening Emma, even though it meant facing his dad. Neal knows what happens to people when they break deals with his father, so Neal wanting to spare Emma from ever having to make another deal with his dad was indicative of him protecting her and her dad without expecting anything in return from Emma. That helps Emma see Neal in a new light, and Neal challenges his dad to do the right thing. He’s stepping up to plate, doing the brave thing, and calling forth his dad to do the selfless thing. I love this GIF set which so accurately portrays Emma’s newfound respect for the father of her son.
The look on Emma’s face is brilliant with her jaw dropping with amazement and respect for Neal. The only person who ever stood up to Rumple before is Emma herself in 1×4, and now she sees Neal basically doing the same thing. And Neal is telling his dad to do something without expecting any favors in return, which is a huge contrast to Hook only saving Charming to get a favor from Emma in the form of a kiss. As Emma told Hook, a simple thank-you ought to have sufficed, and yet, Neal didn’t expect a word of thanks from Emma.

ParticipantI think its important for her to see the real Neal that Tink and Wendy had experience with. I think its important for to remember how they both feel the same things and want the same thing, A FAMILY and HOME!

ParticipantI really want Regina to help Emma realize what a gem she has in Neal. Neal is fighting for a second chance with Emma and Henry, and Regina always longed for a second chance with Daniel, although it was too late for her. Regina shut up when Snow told Regina that Emma had just lost Neal, because no one knows more than Regina what it’s like to mourn your first love. Regina looked so amazed that Neal is still alive. Regina, who’s spent decades wishing that Daniel would come back to life, discovers that Neal, the man Emma loves and Henry’s dad, is still alive. Regina might even envy Emma a bit since Emma has it within her reach to get a second shot at love with Neal. Not only has Neal been stepping up to the plate when it comes to Henry, but he clearly sacrificed himself for his kid in 2×21, which is exactly what Regina was willing to do in 2×22 up until Emma helped save Regina and the town. I think that Regina ought to have a heart-to-heart with Emma about realizing what a good man she has in Neal because it’s so incredibly rare to get a second chance at love.

That would be *lovely*
If not in the first 11, then maybe the second half. Going back to 306, EQ Regina tells Ariel that there are no second chances but clearly this whole season is about them. I think Regina is going to realize in the back half that she is getting a second chance and maybe she’ll talk to Emma about it. Don’t deny your feelings for Neal just because you have anger over the past. Regina understands that; if she let go of the past, she’d float away and have nothing to ground her but it also means she had to take a chance on her happiness. In a lot of ways, Emma’s anger and fear over Neal are keeping her from floating away like Regina. If she can learn more about Neal and his past and their past, she might come to realize that she wants a second chance with Neal.

ParticipantI have a lot I would like to post in here today (great stuff being talked about guys!) but since I’m at work and should probably do some actual work today 😉 I’m just posting this drive by comment before I forget about it when I get on here later. 🙂
Someone needs to make a Nealfire video to the song,”Changed” by Rascal Flatts because it just fits too well with Neal’s journey up to this point and I think it could be pretty epic. I know it has a little bit of religious type undertones but wow, this song fits so well right now. Please help me out someone!!! 😀
Sample Lyrics:
I got off track, I made mistakes,
Back slid my way into that place where souls get lost,
Lines get crossed, and the pain won’t go away
I hit my knees, now here I stand,
There I was, now here I am,
Here I am,
Changed
