Participant*points up at slurpeez’s post* ALL OF THAT!
BTW-Can we talk a moment about how adorable MRJ looks in that hat from the Importance of Being Earnest reading they did the other week?! Holy cuteness. đ
Yes, yes we can. I love a guy who can wear a hat like that. MRJ isn’t exactly high fashion, but he’s still got style.

KeymasterWhile it sounds cliche, part of the appeal of the show, at least for me, since the beginning has been its message about happy endings, hope and family finding each other.
Not cliche. And I wholeheartedly agree. These are fairy tales, after all. And while I know that most of the original ones are slightly horrifying in nature, the mindset of the vast majority of the people watching know that when anything starts with “Once upon a time,” it ends with “and they all lived happily ever after”
I think SwanFire has always been endgame since its conception when it was planned for Baelfire to be the father of Henry. Neal, Emma and Henry are all family, and as Henry said, his family always finds each other.
Yes. I mean, A and E told both Bobby and JMo about Baelfire from the start
I think there were always going to be obstacles for Neal and Emma to overcome, such as the dark curse, the hurt about Neal letting her go, the misconceptions about why Neal left, Nealâs fake fiancĂ©, and now the triangle of doom with Hook.
What is a love story without a dragon or two?
The more important point is that Emma needs to face a series of emotional and supernatural hurdles before she can find hope to get her own happy ending, which we know, is the dream of Tallahassee with Neal and with Henry
The Heroes journey. ’round and ’round and back home again, emotionally healed. Storyteller and I had an entire thread about Emma’s hero journey using Joseph Campbell’s structure. (maybe I’ll find it again)
I think Hook could just be a major distraction and an excuse for Emma to try and sweep her insecurities and fears under the rug rather than to face them head on. Only when Emma actually starts to deal with her issues will she move past them.
Yes I am accepting that while it would be nice (for both sides) if this triangle of doom were resolved before the 3 month break, that’s a pipe dream. And it’s going to be a rocky few episodes of 3.2 but I think KFC might be on to something with the whole “314 anniversary” thing.

*points at slurpeez post too* VERY well said and I totally agree. It may take 2 weeks, 2 months, or 2+ years (I hope not that last one, LOL) but whichever way it goes or how long it ends up taking, I know I’ll be there anxiously waiting to enjoy the Happily Ever After for Emma & Neal. đ
Agree about MRJ fashion sense too. I think I would call his style “Sloppy Chic” because he never quite looks as put together as someone like Josh always does but his outfits always go together and look great on him. His clothes seem to reflect his personality and show his casual, breezy confidence that is so appealing and refreshing. The man has a way with wearing hats too although that Louisville Cardinal hat that he had to wear at SDCC this past year doesn’t fall into that category even if it was adorable because of the bet he lost, LOL đ

That is forever one of my very favorite things.

ParticipantI love those banter moments too. I noticed Emma didn’t try in NL to banter at all until Neal showed up in NL. He brings out her goofy side, when she tries to break the tension by saying saying why can’t it be rainbow valley.  Or in Miller’s daughter,  where she says “I can spell spell.” There’s this sort of lightness despite the dangers and angst that makes me enjoy them together.

ParticipantI saw this on Tumblr and couldn’t agree more:

KeymasterSlurpeez I was just coming over here to post that!
(while I draw the line at “devil” for my Imp) I do agree. She is staring right at Neal knowing that he is the one who kept Emma safe from any other deals she may have had to make. Neal is the one who ensures that Charmings gets to go home.
Hmm. It’s almost like that is an important theme for Emma’s character or something. đ
EDIT
Also there is a wonderful GIF set I posted a few pages back of Emma’s reaction when she hears that Neal is going to get Charming home and save Emma from any deal making with Rumple. She actually looks over at Hook with her mouth open like, “whoa. contrast”

Oh I love that too. Their banter and sass is what makes them so appealing together because it comes so easily. đ
Something else that I just thought of while reading your post is a random thing that happened in Dark Hollows. When they went to Neal’s cave to retrieve the coconut and talk about the plan to capture the shadow, Neal asked them if they’d seen the coconut with the holes in the top when they were there last time. Emma knew what he was looking for and now that I’m remembering that scene again, she sounded actually excited to hear that he was looking for it. She said, “Your star map? I know where that is….I’ll go get it” almost like she couldn’t wait to hear his story behind it. I think she was almost disappointed to find out that it was a shadow catcher instead of the star map she originally thought but her eagerness to find that item for Neal was so adorable and it takes me back to their Bonnie & Clyde act when she was so excited to show him the haul she got from that one convenience store (this was right before he gave her the keychain). I’m now finding myself torn between wanting to see them banter more over family things or see them start to rob stores again because both things are totally adorable, LOL đ

ParticipantNeal and Emma flow together in perfect harmony and sync. I swear with Neal back in her life it almost seems like she whole again and thrilled that Neal is their to help rescue their son. “Now lets go get our son!”

She seems more “Emma” now that Neal is back, that’s for sure. Her little quips and her take-no-bull attitude.
