I have (as Phee would say) a serious case of *grabby hands* when it comes to that pic, Slurpeez!!! OMG. I love how they’ve incorporated bits of Neal into that costume, like the scarf. But it’s also very Rumple with shades of gold and brown.

Someone said without the pirate suit, makeup and cleanshaven Colin looks like an accountant. A very good looking one but just an ordinary guy. As ZZ Top sang way back in the day “Every girl ‘s crazy bout a a sharp dressed man.” I hope you are right Keb that it helps some make the connection in their minds better (but I think the splitters are highly motivated to try to pretend that Neal doesn’t do anything good as Neal).

Personally, Hook has never done much for me because his personality always overshadowed his looks. *shrug* Give me an MRJ with Neal’s personality any day of the week.
I keep staring at that pic. he just looks so stately and royal, like a Prince. Fit for a Princess. (and notice Hook didn’t change out of Pirate gear. No matter what world, universe, or even in a dream..he’s still a pirate)

I just love that pic of MRJ dressed in FTL Clothes & you are so right RG he does look very stately & royal, very much like Prince fit for Princesss Emma. Can you picture Neal, Emma & Henry in all together in FTL Clothes living together in a castle ? I hope Adam & Eddy will at least give us a glimpse of what that could be like this season

That last tweet from someone angry about “erasing” the past actions that Neal did to Emma annoys me.
They’ve been addressing what he did to her, and building the story about WHY that happened, what they both thought about it, and how it haunts them both. There is no need to erase it, but of course some reinterpreted what happened between them so thoroughly they forget Neal knew about the curse, knew his father would find if it were broken, and still chose to do the hard but in his understanding of curses and destiny, right thing to reunite Emma with parents who did not want to abandon her. People try to say see it from Emma’s perspective. Well her perspective is changing. She thought she knew him, charming drifter with a bad childhood just like her but then she realizes there are more sides to him.
Neal never did anything for the purpose of hurting Emma, even though it did. Just like other true loves sacrificed but sometimes brought pain to the one they loved. If there is no easy solution, then you do what will bring the one you love the most eventual happiness, even if it costs you your own. Yes, you should fight to be together and find a way, but not at the cost of the kind of person that the other loves, and I think even more importantly, at the cost of being a person who can love yourself.
Love should bring out the best versions, and that is why Cora and Rumple, though they had sparks and much in common, were not a true love. Neal and Emma bring something out in each other that no one else does. They still have much angst, but we have never seen Emma smile so genuinely as with him in the flashbacks, except with Henry. There’s usually these tight smiles that don’t reach her eyes, but with Neal, she gives him smirks and side-smiles, and of course, the angst-fueled sad smiles. I think that WILL change, as she begins to let go of the anger and pain but she is not in a place to focus on that right now. She doesn’t have time to talk to him and understand his perspective–but she says she loves him still and if you love someone, then you tend to want to understand them, rather than hurt them and cause them pain.
Neal did not seek out Tamara, nor did he try to flaunt her in Emma’s face despite all the people who try to re characterize how he acted as that. At every step, Emma denied she had feelings still for Neal before he even brought up Tamara (and he was trying to do so delicately when he said “its compmlicated” in response to her request to come to SB, because he didn’t have a lot going on). He was genuine when he said he didn’t mean for Tamara to be a surprise. He was going to tell her, then the emergency with his papa happened, so he put it aside, trying to avoid getting into it, but Tamara had her own reasons for wanting to be in on whatever was happening.
So again, Neal did not choose to be with Tamara knowing it would hurt Emma. He thought she was over him when he left, that his reasons were not enough in her mind to feel they had anything left from their relationship. He was almost right, as it was only very far deep down that she did still have real feelings for him that,as Adam and Eddy put it on the season preview, were rekindled at the portal.Yet the thing is before that, Neal and Emma managed to get along. They brought out a kind of camaraderie, and concern that many people in such a bitter exes relationship could not manage, which is why I think they were not such bitter exes. They genuinely still like and get each other as people, but it is hard for Emma to reconcile that feeling with all the pain and hurt. It is still hard to understand her parent’s decisions too, but she has to come to understand, there really was no other way. Still, all that lost time is still lost. Neal and Emma are not at the same place emotionally as years before, but I think they’ve grown in complimentary ways. I’m excited to see how the writers keep showing us this. They inspire better versions not complete (and potentially temporary/false/shallow) transformations.
