Thanks for posting that pic, Ranisha. Too cute! 🙂

What does Hook do? “Well I hope you have a pegasus to sail or else we’ll be relying on the trade winds.”

Neal: “Pan’s shadow is in this coconut, it’ll get us home. So long as your ship can stay together” (metaphor alert)

Hook “so long as your plan doesn’t fail, she will…” (all snarky)

The entire scene was a little contest, again but it played out, IMO, that Neal came off better.

I didn’t mind this, because it was far less subtle than the stuff we’d got previously. And Neal absolutely came out on top.

Speaking of subtle little shippy things in this ep, I’d just like to point out that Emma lit the fuse and Neal loaded the ammo, they are so completely can(n)on!!! 😉

Wow that’s seriously sweet, that 6 year old drawing! Hope that gets into fan art friday!Neal did awesome again, keeping his cool and I was so worried Henry-pan was going to shove him off when they had the conversation (as I’d guessed when the eyes glowed it was a body swap).   I wonder what Pan thought about Neal saying to Henry he’d never lose his father?   I think like Regina, he doesn’t really carry regrets but not because he’s found love after all the pain, but because he still thinks he can be an immortal child/god like thing.  /shiver.Also Regina said to Emma that she has “this person”  meaning Neal, but that Hook was pining for her.  So Emma has Neal, there’s no doubting the connection but with Hook its all about what Hook wants, he pines (as in, Emma doesn’t have him, though she could, so he is emotionally at a distance from her).  I know, just reading into Regina’s comments a lot, as really  her point was that Emma has people who are in her life who care about her (regardless of how Emma thinks of them) other than Henry.
I expected some conversation between Neal and Hook, and Hook and Tink from one of those A&E interview articles–but yet again, more misleading media right?
I did love the Wendy/Tink and Regina/Tink moments though.  One thing I’m sure people will bring up is, why did Regina  put a spell on Henry to prevent his heart from being taken. I’m sure people will argue therefore he isn’t born of  true love.First, I don’t know if we’ve had confirmed that people born of true love cannot have their hearts taken.  It’s a conclusion people make based on Cora failing and then what Gold said later on.  Yet the writers never confirmed exactly and Jane Epenson has said somethings are unique about Emma that aren’t true for all True love babies.  After all, Regina pulled out Snow’s heart and we thought Leo and Eva were true love, though it was never really confirmed for sure.Second, even if it is true that true love baby means you can’t take the hearts, then it is possible that Regina put her spell on top of protection already there that she didn’t realize was there.  Regina deals in dark magic, so there’s no reason she would necessarily be aware of that protection any more than Cora seemed to be when Emma stepped in front of Snow.
Finally, I think its possible Emma’s sacrifice in that moment with Cora was what created the protection (like Harry Potter’s mother’s spell did).  So I know it will probably get asserted a lot that it is proving something–but even if Emma and Neal were not truly in love in the past, it is not of course a bar to them falling truly in love in the present/future.  I think one thing Jane E. also said about Snowing is they fought very hard for their love.   That’s part of what made it true, is that they endured so much.
I think that is part of the path that Neal and Emma are on now, and that goes to seeing their real love story play out in present, even if the roots were in the past, the flowering of it is still to come.

    HA! YES

    Yes I noticed that.

Also Regina said to Emma that she has “this person” meaning Neal,

I liked how that mirrors the scene where Neal woke up in FTL and when they ask him about Emma he’s doesn’t even know how to describe their current relationship. It’s impossible to put a label on it at the moment, but at the same time it’s impossible to deny that they DO have a connection.

And it’s a connection everyone can see. Snow thinks Neal is Emma’s happy ending; Charming sees that SF is a mirror to Snowing; Regina knows that Neal and Emma love each other and have *something* between them. And, once again, it’s a one sided relationship with Hook, “a pirate who pines for you.” Not “and you and the pirate are obviously hot for each other” Hook’s feelings for her are something she has, but not something she particularly wants.

After Save Henry, I am now aboard the SwanFire ship. I liked Neal this episode, Hook was okay too. But Bae hugged his dad, yay!

A cracky shippy connection came to me in the shower going off what Phee said

Emma lights a CANON with NEAL’S LIGHTER (you know..fire…Baelfire…SwanFire) and it works to take then HOME (the biggest theme for both Emma and Neal…)

    🙂

Welcome back aboard. Cookies and hot cocoa with cinnamon are to your right.

Another pretty little thing from Tumblr. I love how familial love so centrally features in the SF dynamic. Neal and Emma point each other in the right direction by steering each other towards family reconciliation. Neal let Emma go, not because he didn’t love her, but to get her home to her parents, and Emma prompts Neal to make peace with his dad. Emma and Neal both resonated with Rumple’s speech to Belle in 2×16 when he said she makes him want to go back to the best version of himself, because both Neal and Emma make each other want to return to that time when they were young and dreamt of being a family together. And now they have Henry who forever binds them.

Emma recognizes the longing that Neal has to reconcile with his father because it’s the same exact longing that Emma has to be reconciled with her own parents. Both Neal and Emma have been lost children, but both are now found. They are learning to forgive their parents, and in so doing, moving past their own abandonment issues and together forging a healthy future together for the sake of their son, Henry. They are learning to find forgiveness, peace, trust, and dare I say love within their complicated family dynamic with Snow, Charming, Rumple, Henry, Belle and even Regina! The trio of parents can work together for Henry’s sake, as we saw Regina, Emma and Neal do to save their son. Both sets of parents, Snowing and Rumple (and I’m betting Belle), see the obvious love connection that Neal and Emma have for one another. Rumple said to both Emma and Neal that they still have feelings for one another, and Snow compared the love Emma has for Neal to the love she has for Charming. We haven’t really seen much if any interaction between Charming and Neal, but I’m betting when they do finally get a chance to talk that they’ll discover they have a lot in common since both men gave Emma up so that she could fulfill her destiny and both men love Emma a tremendous amount as Emma’s father and as the father of Emma’s child.

At the end of the day, no two people can live completely in isolation, which is how it would be if Emma settled for Hook. In contact to Bae, who makes Emma want to honor her mother and father, Hook persistantly tries to isolate Emma from her family dynamic, and it’s no wonder because Hook knows they’d disapprove. The only chance Hook has with Emma is if he can cut her off from her family. Hook is an outsider, even more than Regina, because Regina is connected to the family dynamic by her love for Henry. While he’s helped the group in season 3 to win Emma’s favor, he’s also previously antagonized Rumple, Baelfire, Belle, Snow, David, Emma, and Regina by his selfish actions. He seduced another man’s wife, and in so doing took a mother away from her small child (though I fault Milha equally for this). Hook then used that same boy to find out how to kill his dad and then handed over that same boy to be Peter Pan’s prisoner. Hook then tried to use Belle to wheedle information out of Belle and then would’ve killed her out of vengeance for her loyalty to Rumple had Regina not intervened. Hook has left Emma and Snow for dead in the EF, which would have left Henry without his birth mother and grandmother had Rumple’s plan not worked. Hook has antagonized David by assaulting him and knocking him unconscious in his fervor to get his hook back and hunt down Rumple. Hook knocked back Emma in the lobby of Neal’s apartment in his frenzy to kill Rumple, thereby taking Bae’s dad away from him as soon as he got him back. Hook’s alliance with Cora allowed her to return to SB and nearly kill all of Henry’s birth family. Hook’s alliance with GOAT nearly got Regina killed at the torturing device of Owen and then nearly got everyone in the town blown up, which resulted in Henry being kidnapped. So, yeah, little wonder that Hook feels the need to cut Emma off from those who love and support her, since he basically has bad blood with everyone else Emma is connected to, and Emma would have to be blinded not to see truth from lies.
