KeymasterThis is an insanely important article too.
It is about Grey’s and Derek’s death but it’s about the TV landscape and how the death of a character can really impact a show, a fandom, and how we’re all looking at TV right now–not just OUAT–and asking what on god’s green earth is happening
The issue is not whether or not we will be all right. Of course we will be all right. A fictional character on a fictional show has died. With even a small amount of perspective, we can likely all agree that we are going to be fine. The issue, however, is: What is TV all about? What is the point of investing in a show—in its characters and the stories that are being told—if there is no return on that investment?”
There has to be some middle ground. There has to be a way for writers to have the freedom to write the stories they want to write while not taking advantage of the people for whom they are creating their art. Audiences are resilient. We can stand some pain and suffering, and we can recover from almost anything. Some things should be sacred, though—shouldn’t they?
FAmily should be sacred. I honestly don’t care if Emma and Neal didn’t get together in the end (given Emma’s pod status) but the FAMILY should be sacred. Henry’s family. that should be sacred.
Big thanks to Heather for linking this article to all of us today for me to share.

ParticipantI wasn’t able to log on yesterday don’t know why but today it worked so hi again! Anyways I thoughts first of- I’m currently mourning Dr. McDreamy -like WTH where did THAT come from?!?!? But then I realized that the only other time I had been this devistated over the death of a fictional character was Neal and then I remembered the stupid line about bold storytelling – A&E take notes this is bold storytelling Derek’s death will create a major wripple in the show’s entire history because they’re taking time to show how this death effect each charecter differently and not to settle a love triangle -just from the sneak preview you can see people actully mourning someone that was so close to them. This is how I wanted Neal’s death (if it had to happen ) to have happened and how I wanted it to be dealt with
And the funeral – Neal got 5 minutes at the beginning of the episode blink and you’d probably miss it and Rumple wasn’t even there. If only OUAT was GA who’s giving it a 2 hr episode -and actully showing us people grieving
I want Shonda Rhimes at the end of next Thursday to call A&E and in all her sassyness say Thats how it’s done RIGHT
In other news A&E continue their epic streak of taking away everything I love with this Zelena pregnancy -what is that even >>> So they’re effectively ruined Swanfire Rumbelle ScarletQueen and now OutlawQueen — has anyone checked to make sure WR is emotionally able to function?

Last time I checked she wasn’t even really able to comment on the episode.

Participant@Phee – Ugh. Emma’s lack of emotional response upon entering Neal’s apartment was just plain annoying, but yeah, not unexpected. *sigh* I wish I could be upset enough to care, but yeah, I don’t anymore. Emma is no longer the same Emma as she was in S1-S3a.

I’m making it….I’m overcoming it the best way I can. Husband’s a very trained rant listener, so I ranted to him I know just about all last night, and today….and probably will do even more ranting for the rest of the week.
However…this photo did get a good laugh out of me….it is so accurate to all of us.
And this photo is the only shimmer of hope I have left….

You know what could have been nice….had Emma found a pair of her old glasses that Neal had kept for all those years just sitting on his desk.
Emma: (picks up glasses) After all these years….he kept them.
Lily: Who?
Emma: My…my old boyfriend…his name was Neal. He’s uh…my son’s father.
Lily: Where is he?
Emma: He’s…he’s dead. (Turns to glare at Zelena) Because of her.
