ParticipantCute pictures!
RG, I don’t think it is necessarily back sliding, for Hook to be sarcastic, but when he wants, we have seen him outright demean someone. So I feel he did not go that far in his remarks to Neal.
He didn’t understand the coconut in a shadow thing, and frankly, its not like Neal explained it (and who would have thought, Shadow-stretched to sail-size!). So I took it more as Hook being a bit peeved he had no clue of exactly how this was going to work and being asked to just fall in line, trust his ship and life to someone else. People used to being in charge like a Captain would find that a bit unnerving, and then there’s the question of why Neal didn’t tell him the details. Is it because Neal didn’t have time or did not want to trust him with the details? Whatever is true, Hook might still have thought he was not being trusted and felt annoyed about that too, even though that lack of trust, if that was what it was rather than time, were justified, especially after the lighter incident.
All the same, I do think Hook felt unhappy about Emma and Neal talking and working well. That doesn’t mean he’s all the way ready to bust out the pirate tricks and regress, but he’s human and he gets annoyed, jealous and snarky.  He’s still helping the team and he did look genuinely happy about Henry being saved. Of course, maybe a Pan deal might look better now but I still think Hook sticks around so won’t sell them out so badly they would King George him.
âIf I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?â -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass

ParticipantI think it all goes back to the alpha male vs alpha male bucking out over the alpha female!
Hook did seem genuinely Happy that Henry was safe and as non-Hook fan I enjoyed Hook making Felix sit back down with Hook. Before this season, I had side fantasy of Hook taking care of the lost boys with Tink on the Jolly Ranger but no longer acting as pirates. Of course that may never happen but it was small simple fantasy of mind of a cool way to restart Hook’s story and journey. Also it provided a nice twist to the Peter Pan story, Hook and Tink team up to take care of the lost boys.

Ok, true. It’s not the same as demeaning someone. But he wasn’t just being sarcastic. He was trying to down play Neal’s involvement. Hook KNOWS how they are getting out of NL. He went to Dark Hollow with them! He’s just trying to get Emma to notice him with taunts to Neal. Or at least that’s how I read it

I just read that part of your post lol. I guess that is true too. But I still read it as an attention seeking moment.

Agreed on both parts. I’m glad he was happy Henry was alive. It reminded me of how he took Bae on his ship and gave him a good life, for a while.

ParticipantTumblr was so full of win today with all the great GIF sets and essays about Neal, Emma, SwanFire, and family dynamics. It probably helps that I only follow like 15 blogs and they all ship the same things I do so I have few problems over there. đ
Thanks for all the great stuff guys. I’ve been under the weather for the last two days (and exhausted from holiday retail work) and it’s been fabulous to come here and see so many pretty things. I’m hoping these last few episodes have more people finally seeing the good qualities in Neal rather than just focusing on the big mistake Neal made 11 years ago (that he has all ready said is his biggest regret more than a few times). He’s not a villain, he never has been, he’s just the punching bag character on this show who hasn’t had a lot of good things happen to him, and yet in spite of the heartache, abandonment issues, and hopeless moments that probably overwhelm him at times, he’s remained a genuine and good person who tries to help other people and tries to be good to the few people who’ve been in his life. His reunion with Rumple may have been one of my favorite scenes on this show and I thought it was a great mirror scene to the Emma & Snow nursery bonding scene from S2. I love when this show remembers that it’s all about family. đ

ParticipantBTW-I LOVE your new avatar pics Jo and RG!!! I would love to change mine to something a little more current but we haven’t had a sweet nose bumping type of moment between Neal & Emma yet and I will be LIVID if we never get another one. That was such a sweet and tender connection between those two lost kids and I really want to see another one, darn it! đ
