ParticipantPosting my thoughts on Baelfire being addressed here because it slightly enters SF vs CS territory.
I’m glad they address Baelfire and why he isn’t a part of Rumple’s happy ending. In many ways I think the mistake the writers made with Baelfire, aside from killing him off in the first place, was that after his death they chose to ignore him and the important relationships he had with several of the main characters. They call Neal’s death “bold storytelling” but it wasn’t bold because there was absolutely no follow through afterwards. It’s like they chickened out of dealing with the full ramifications of that event.
I know the decision to kill off Neal is somewhat blamed on the CS ship, and I do think there is a slight bit of truth in that, however, it’s more in the way that the writers seemingly didn’t know how to handle the Swanfire relationship as a platonic one whilst CaptainSwan was happening so they thought it would be easier to kill off Neal to end the love triangle quickly rather than taking the time to let it play out naturally.
I also think that, ultimately, Neal’s death was bad for CS in the long run because Emma never chose which man she wanted to be with. Hook ended up winning by default rather than Emma consciously choosing him over Neal. Evidently the writers chose to go the way of CS, but why not have Emma make that decision? This is why Neal’s death is blamed on CS, because there was no clear decision of Emma’s choice, then after Neal’s death, rather than allowing the characters, and in particular Emma, to acknowledge their loss, the writers seemed too afraid to even mention Neal. It makes CS seem somewhat stilted and also actually builds resentment from fans, not in the shipper sense of “This ship’s happening and I wanted that ship instead”, but in the sense of “Character A was important to Character B and C but now Character B’s storyline seems to be focussed around Character C and vice versa and neither of them are acknowledging the loss of Character A despite how we were told that A was important to B and C.The show is starting to acknowledge Nealfire now, but there is a sense of too little too late. These are feelings, opinions, etc that the characters should’ve expressed earlier in the series not over a season after the fact.

ParticipantGOD BLESS YOU @SLURPEEZ FOR THAT GIF SPAM!!!
I think they released that clip so that we don’t get our hopes up. Maybe it’s time I finally put away all the hope I had. Maybe we SF fans are the villains of this fandom. We don’t get happy endings.

ParticipantHappy GIF bomb time:
This is Rumple’s happy ending summed up in one gif.
The Stiltskin men on Team SwanFire! Add Henry to that group!
What’s interesting about the difference between Neal and Hook in regards to Henry is:
1. Neal actually wants to spend time with Henry because of Henry whereas Hook only spent time with Henry so that he could get in Emma’s good graces.
2. Neal was SHOWN spending time with Henry and would ask after Henry’s well-being whereas Hook does neither.
3. The most important aspect of SwanFire for Neal was that Henry had both parents in his life whereas for Hook the most important aspect of CaptainSwan is Emma being his. (seriously, how many times has Hook described Emma as his whatever? For example, HIS happy ending, HIS reason for staying on the road to redemption, HIS reason for being good, etc).

KeymasterThis explains my frustration with the sneak
Wait wait wait so the Author magical rule bending author who can just make diamonds and give people magical powers CANT bring someone back from the dead.
But I agree with this
I think it helps to accept that the writers DO NOT want to bring back Neal/Baelfire. So there is no loophole which will work. If they change their minds then we’ll see some ‘surprising’ magic doodad and *poof* we have Nealfire. I’m not happy with their lack of interest but I need to move on, if only for the sake of my blood pressure.

ParticipantHere’s hoping that Game of Silence will be far better for MRJ and his fans than Once ever was. So proud of him! And here’s hoping MRJ can show off his acting chops more on this new show.
