I realized I haven’t even visited the forum in about a week and longer since I’ve posted. Thought I should make an appearance. *waves*
I’m kinda of surprised Screwball quit. She had a large following. Her essays were fantastic. To just not even finish 4B is something. I do wonder how many people aren’t coming back at all in the fall. Ratings-wise, but also fandom-wise. I see a lot of people in certain segments of fandom just giving up…closing tumblrs, dedicating themselves to other shows. My dash was mostly Rumbelle, I haven’t changed followers but now it’s a lot more diverse. Very little Once related things anymore.
I’ve said this before that the opposite of love isn’t hate, it’s indifference or apathy. If you just don’t even have a bit of anger to you that means some spark is dead. There is nothing there. You can’t get back someone who has just given up. And there are too many other things to watch on tv. People can decide to catch up on their DVRs or Netflix instead of tuning in to the show they once loved. I can tell you from experience, it’s very easy to forget what time your once favorite show was on or what date it actually comes back on. Then you get off-track and think, “Oh, I’ll catch up later.” But then later rarely comes.

Yeah it was disappointing that Screwball has kind of given up on OUAT at least until season 5, I enjoyed her essays and reviews.
The forum has been so quiet lately, I know it’s usually more quiet during hiatuses, but it’s been ridiculously quiet. Hopefully it picks up once filming starts.

1. I joke about all the characters dying in a zombie apocalypse, but honestly….I don’t know which characters I even care about anymore. I find all of them to be problematic, cloying, unrealistic, boring, and not worthy of my time or feelings. Henry is maybe the one character left that I still care for—and he’s only used when A and E remember that he’s a thing.
2. I actually don’t think Screwball will come back for 5. She’s super busy, she’s got other TV shows that she’s more invested in, and it’s like she said–she lost hope that the writers actually know what they’re doing. She’s like those of us who now only ship Past! Rumbelle and who are more invested in fic than in the canon.
3. I’m glad the forums have been this quiet. Honest to heaven, everyone needs a break. Most of the regulars have been going non stop since this place opened and everyone needs to take a step back and get some air. The past year on this show has been miserable, and it’s even worse in the fandom. So yeah. Everyone take some time. The spoilers will come eventually but unlike 3 years ago where I would have been possessed to start learning what is coming next, I think everyone could do with an honest to god break.
