As for the on-screen ramifications of the long-gone character’s reappearance, one should expect more than a little drama. His/her timing… could be better, yeah.
I’m not quite sure how to take this. On the one hand, there will surely be drama amongst fans, but this quotation specifically said “on-screen ramifications” … which again, I’m not sure how to interpret it, especially since MRJ’s only appears to have filmed the one scene for 5×12.
I think it just means that Neal’s appearance is coming on the heels of Emma trying to save Hook and I’m going to assume that Rumple isn’t exactly thrilled about this. The drama is probably between those two and not Neal and anyone else. I’m wondering if Rumple separates from the group and goes to his shop–where he meets Pan again–in an effort to find some thing that will help everyone save Neal, even though Neal has probably told them not to bother

It’s just so connected to Neal’s story. Obviously it could mean the character’s return to Once, not necessarily Neal’s return “home” from death (which I do not expect and have no hope for), but it’s just an interesting choice of words, and Matt is usually much more thoughtful than A and E with stuff like that. (Crazy, it’s not even his show.) Especially with the “ramifications” line.

I’d be beyond upset, and I wouldn’t care if my dad didn’t want it. I’d do it anyway, and if my own mom was wasting resources on someone who tried to murder me multiple times, I’d say my anger toward her would have ramifications. </p>

Well, that whole thing should add some much needed oil to the fire of our already dysfunctional fandom. I’m with @Bar Farer on this one though — uncharitably ready to enjoy a bit of schadenfreude at the expense of our CS friends and their hysterical tantrum that’s about to hit with the fury of 10,000 supernovas. I don’t much expect that Emma and Neal will resolve anything, especially in light of JMo’s recent interviews. Neal died with everything 100% resolved? Seriously? I don’t think ‘resolved’ means what she thinks it means, then. But I’m still holding out for them to somehow address Neal’s relationship with Rumple and Henry. #no(t much) hope

I mean seriously, whatever original plans they had, I’ve got a feeling they’re going to do it because it’ll be the last season, fans can stop watching, it won’t change anything. ABC can’t cancel them, it’ll be the last season. Mark my words….Adam and Eddy are going to “Roseanne” us and flip this entire show on it’s head.

Yeah even people commenting that Ew article, are saying the same thing. Of course this scene could have been added later, and at this point the cast knew nothing about it and the sayings of them was that Neal had move on, or maybe since she knew he had a new show, that no way he would film, so maybe was that, and they still didnt knew about it. Maybe when Sean posted that old pic in December saying Yep, was when the cast found out.

I thought that the interview with Jennifer was done while she was filming 512, so maybe she didn’t know about that scene at that time. Also she has to say what the writers are playing at and that is that Emma is with Hook. As ridiculous as that is, it is what is happening so she has to answer questions to what is happening.
As excited as I am right now, anything less than a complete rewrite as watcher said, would throw me deep into depression.
Hook was shady from season 3b *wait, what am i saying he was shady since we first met him season 2* but what i mean is, he never showed any progress towards good for goodness sake. This more than anything makes me believe VER5 STRONGLY that CS is just another Tamara. If CS is anything less than a cruel hoax on Emma or a love potion in that bottle of rum, I will cry for days.

I agree with your second point about needing to sell what the writers are telling her (JMo) to sell.
But with your first if the scene wasn’t in the original script then IMO that means it was put in at the last possible second, probably to “appease” fans and so they wouldn’t get accused of leaving Neal as the Elephant in the Room, again. And if that’s the case, it tells me everything I need to know about Neal in 5B–appearance for the sake of appearance and nothing more. Not that I even remotely expect anything more or for the writers to turn CS on its head

Could be also, bc at the beginning Gos rumours was to premiere in January, so in that sense mRJ would not be available to film anything bc would be promoting gos, but when probably became evident no gos in jan his schedule was free, although Lana was at some Convention in November i thing, in the beginning and said that was secret guest star would have a very emotional scene, that was something she loved about the script, so maybe was always in the script, but none of them could mention, bc appears that TV line had the exclusive, so for everyone, Neal would not appear, of course the other possibility is that they kept that part of the script in secret like happened with Elsa, to avoid leaks, since from my understanding very few people in ouat crew/cast knew about this, which doesnt surprise me with the track of spoilers they have, which is why i dont understand them showing the episode to the media with 2 weeks advance, and spoil everything
