ParticipantHello fellow Swanfire peeps!!! Haven’t been able to post anything on the thread lately but I just have to say the amount of people I’ve been seeing giving the blind eye to Hook’s flirtation with Tink and still vilifying Neal’s actions really grates at my system. On the IMDB board there was one thread that was especially ridiculous. I know I know I shouldn’t read those things but I just can’t help it. So I came here to the SF safe haven. Seeing those SF GIFs posted above me calms me down again. đ
But I really don’t have a problem with Hook so long he actually keeps his word about trying to be a good man but so far he’s failing badly. If he wants to be a pirate w/ sass then that’s fine, just don’t go around bragging you have honor and do the exact opposite of honor. It weakens the character which makes me sad because I do like Hook. He’s not far down the ladder for redemption, but I think he’s going about it the wrong way, thinking Emma is his way to redemption when she’s barely trying to get her own life together. If Hook want a second chance at life and love then perhaps someone who can devote more of their time towards him and keep him on the path of good would be a heck of a lot better. Is that wrong to say??? Just like Belle is Rumple’s rock to lean on, Hook might need someone like that. Sorry not exactly SF topic but I kinda wanna vent because of all the posts I’ve been seeing. I believe Emma is just too broken for Hook (if that makes sense) and he’s confusing her even further with the dumb love triangle. Neal is a much more stable person for Emma whom she can depend on. We’ve seen he would gladly sacrifice his happiness and life for her. It’s canon and filmed on screen!!!
*Ok thinking happy thoughts…* đ

Source, and you have to see the whole set of pictures there!
This set of pictures, only copying two, makes a very good point. Neal’s request for a date with Emma paralleled perfectly with how Eric asked Ariel to come sail away with him. Neal of course was not asking for a commitment or anything huge, just a bit of time to talk with just the two of them, but still in a public place, in the middle of the day, where she could feel comfortable.  Maybe it is not the sweeping romantic gestures that Emma craves or that fans might in a story, but it feels more heartfelt for all that.  Emma said she only had time for Henry, but on some level, she didn’t seem perfectly content with it. She wants more, but she is afraid she’s not allowed to have it, not with this duty to be the savior hung on her.  She wont’ let that touch her duty as a mother to Henry but a personal romantic life? She is thinking she cannot have it all.  So between her work, her child, and her parents, there just is not room (she thinks) to endure any pain and heartbreak that might lower her edge to protect and be there.
Ariel saved the day, but it did cost her (she thought) her chance with Eric but she then got a second one. Emma might have thought saving (well not quite, RIP Blue! ) the day is costing her the shot with Neal.  Yet if the parallel is something intentional on the part of the writers, perhaps it might be a small hint that Emma’s “second chance” is going to come?
I still feel that the writers would want to parallel any real SF reunion with Manhattan so I don’t expect much to happen until then.  At the same time, I really wonder if they’d leave the whole triangle thing open quite that way over the break? I guess they would, they want to make sure people have incentive to watch after the break and get invested in another story (like Regina /Robin maybe?) before ending anything against fan expectations in this triangle.

ParticipantThanks for that link, KFC. Sorta eerie how similar the wording is, just like with the gifset about Ella/Thomas as well. I was reading the comments on that tumblr post, and Schmacky’s took the words right outta my mouth…
You know I donât remember Eric getting all kinds of **** for either pressuring Ariel or giving up on her.
Interesting that Neal gets that crap though.
Considering both men did the same thing.. tell the woman they love theyâre interested and want to be with them but will understand if they choose not to.
[sarcasm] Gawd! What horrible men [/sarcasm]
People did comment that the Ariel/Eric thing escalated quickly, but no one called Eric a creeper, but Neal behaves in exactly the same way and people find a way to twist it into a negative. *sigh*

It’s probably smarter for them to leave the triangle unresolved over the hiatus. If you completely dash the hopes of a chunk of your fanbase in the mid-season finale, then the premiere for the second half might not rate as well. And assuming the majority of casual viewers would rather see SF, I’d be surprised if we got a big, romantic CS moment to go out on. And the CS fanbase isn’t insignificant in size and passion, so I’d be surprised if we got a big, romantic SF moment to go out on. It just wouldn’t be good business sense.
I’m sort of dying to get the title for 314 so we can over analyse it from a shippy perspective. đ I’m not sure how they could do an ep titled New York City Serenade and not have it involve Neal somehow though.

LOVE THAT. That is one of the best GIF sets I’ve seen on Tumblr for Neal! I love how many people I’ve found there who feel the same way I do about him. So far, Tumblr is pretty safe for me but I’m sure that will change eventually. Anyway, I saw that GIF earlier tonight and was hoping someone here had posted it because I wasn’t sure how to do it myself, LOL đ

I feel I must point out that Emma and Neal’s reunion was in “Ariel” an episode that dealt with second chances. It got said over and over.

ParticipantI just saw the same thing! I don’t get why they didn’t show Blue and Tink ‘s showdown in the diner, especially given Blue’s shadowy death.
I’m surprised they put up a moment that horrible for CS, especially one that looks even worse out of context.

KeymasterHas anyone seen this? Im a bit perplexed tbh cos I didnât find that scene romantic at all and im even more puzzled that abc did this.. im a swanfire at heart but I dont get this ?
I saw it. ABC knows that this is one of the moments that is probably being talked about non stop from 310. Give them Panry, Rumbelle, DaddyCharming, New Curse, and Medusa and people wanna analyze CaptainFairy, CS and SF.
It’s a marketing strategy. They know that CSF is a hot button issue so you promote angst in order to drive up viewership. They’re not geniuses when it comes to promotion, marketing, or trying to understand their fanbase. ABC likes its money (as do most big corps) and it’s selling a product: namely “insane love triangle featuring hot men and pretty ladies!!”
