ParticipantI think, love in our world is different than fairytale love. In Fairytale Land, you know true love right away but here, it’s not always that easy, especially if you’ve grown up not really knowing what that is. So it would be easy to not put faith in it and run away or shy from it. But that doesn’t mean it’s not true love. Instead, it’s a hard earned love. It’s a love that lasts even when you don’t know it’s there. It’s a love that sometimes you might lose faith in, but it never goes away.
That is very well put. Real love is not just a good feeling, but something that endures, despite all of the hardships life has to offer. Snow and Charming may have known almost straight away that their love is true, but then, so did Neal and Emma. Snow and Charming have had to fight for their love and have endured long, painful separations, but they have the benefit of coming from a land where true love is literally the most powerful magic of all. Emma and Neal may have been separated by supernatural circumstances, but their decisions about how to deal with their relationship going forward (or not to deal with them as Neal did in S2 or Emma in S3), is what proves whether a relationship can go the distance or not. Emma lost out on her chance at Tallahassee with Neal the first time because she’s the savior and she was destined to break the curse. Experience has taught her not to get her hopes up for her own happy ending. Keep your head down and never get hurt is sort of her motto. She’s used to being on her own, but now she has Henry to consider, too. Despite both being from the Enchanted Forest, both Emma and Neal grew up in this world, which was pretty miserable for them both.
Yet, that is why Emma’s parents, who do have a storybook love, are trying so hard to show Emma that happy endings begin with hope. This world has a way of depriving people of that hope, but Snow and Charming know better, and they’re trying to show their daughter that she does deserve it and can have a happy ending with the man whom Emma loves. Yet, it’s not enough for her to hear it, she has to believe it for herself, just as Neal came to realize it when he nearly died at the end of S2 going into S3. He woke up, both literally and metaphorially, to the fact that when you love someone, you don’t keep it in, but you fight for it. And that is what he is trying to do, but still letting Emma be the one who calls the shots. All he can do is wait for her, put his heart on the line for her, and believe in the power of their love. Emma may shut down, she may run, and she may even hitch her cart to the wrong horse. She may run from her past all she wants, but knowing Emma, eventually she’ll choose to do the hard thing of choosing to face the possibility of pain for the hope of also experiencing the good moments with Neal. She owes it to herself to believe that she deserves a chance to be happy, and that finding Tallahassee with Neal is possible if she’d only believe in the power of their love.

KeymasterFor anyone who watches WL
so for the sneak peek we have a TL couple watching stars in an episode called home. A TL who’s biggest symbol is a necklace. I smell a parallel 🙂

ParticipantPreach y’all. I really needed to read these things today! *fists pumps and cookies to the entire thread* 🙂
BTW-Is anyone else wondering if we’re ever going to find out why Tink is touching both Emma & Neal in the attached picture? We were told a while ago that there were spoilers in this photo, but as far as I can tell, only Hook healing Charming from the Dreamshade (and connecting him to NL for a time), Emma using magic to start the candle that captured the shadow (her holding the candle), Neal with the coconut shadow trapper, and maybe Snow and Emma standing close together (symbol of their bonding in ep 3×2?) have been explained in the show….so why is Tink connecting Neal & Emma? That was done on purpose. I have my hunch but now I have no idea if they’ll do anything about it or even if they remember that they took this spoilery picture in the first place. Hmmm….

ParticipantOh there is no way Neal would have left Emma if he’d known about Henry. No way in heck. Look how quickly he tried to be a dad when he did know. Look at what he was willing to do for Henry when he did know–go back with his father, stay in Storybrooke (giving up whatever life he’d set up in NY, at least temporarily), go to Neverland–he’s doing the best he can to step up and be Dad. He even made the same promise to Henry (Pan) that his dad once made to little baby Bae–to never leave him.
And while Malcolm may have been willing to leave Rumple, Rumple and Neal both prioritize family and especially their children intensely. Rumple was blinded by fear for one instant, but even when he chose power over Bae he still knew that Bae was more important to him. Neal likewise regretted leaving Emma (even if his reasons were at least partly more noble) and, if there had been just one thing more on the balance of staying with her, he would have.

KeymasterHeather: I hope so! It’s such an odd picture with Tink like that. She has to be standing there for a reason. (she does have some handy dandy pixie dust…)

Even though he wasn’t talking to Henry, I loved the speech Nealfire made to Panry. :’]

That speech was wonderful and finding out later that he actually made it to fake Henry really tore me up. Honestly, having Fake Henry be present for all the reunions really lessoned the impact of them for me (aside from the Rumbelle, Nealfire/Darlings, and Snow pointing out Regina being part of the heroism, none of which involved Fake Henry). I agree that there is no way in h-e-double hockey sticks that Neal would have left Emma if he’d known she was pregnant. I’m still hoping that we get more backstory on what happened to Neal after he left her because A&E both said that he’s not the one who sent her to jail and that we don’t know yet what all happened with him. I really want to see those scenes and with the comments that those guys made about it, rather recently I might add, that story better be something that we get to see VERY soon! 🙂
I’ve seen tweets from Jen lately talking about how this week’s episode is one of her favorites and she hopes everyone watches on Sunday. What happens to be the last episode that she said something like that about? Manhattan. I find that rather intriguing…

I can’t help going there but the facts are the facts and I know my Jen facts! I honestly have no idea what this all could mean on the SF front but it’s interesting that she was also rather excited about Tallahassee last year (and for the record, while he was in it too, that episode was more about Neal & Emma’s history than anyone else). 😉

ParticipantSo I had an idea about the Winter finale… You know how there is that second of Emma and Hook looking at each other kind of sad and emotional? Well, what if it isn’t quite what we thought? What if it was Emma telling Hook that she doesn’t feel that strongly about him and wants to see where things go with Neal but she still feels bad about it and then BAM curse hits and all that gets erased and some AU/curse thingy happens with Emma being together with Hook but that doesn’t matter because she was trying to pick Neal before things got changed? Maybe? Thoughts?
