MRJ: “That’d be a Twitter question for Adam and Eddy I think.”
You can tell MRJ is so over this show. I don’t blame him, but I do miss him on my screen.

ParticipantSo I finally had the chance to watch 6×16. Is it wrong that I kinda ship Emma and Gideon now, despite all that he did to try and kill her? However, the Dark Fairy has his heart and has been controlling Gideon, so I don’t think that counts against him. He really does want to be good and to defeat his evil mother, er, grandmother.
The fact that he tried to kill Emma, and the fact that he is Baelfire’s little brother, probably mean that I shouldn’t ship Emma and Gideon, but I sorta do now. Emma and Gideon had awesome chemistry, even though Gideon, under the control of the Dark Fairy, tried to kill Emma. Gideon is such a tortured soul, but deep down, he really has a heart of Gold (pun intended). For me, he’s just a much more compelling character than is Hook, who has openly antagonized Emma when no one was controlling him. The real Gideon wanted to find Emma to ask for her help to defeat the Dark Fairy. It wasn’t until she took his heart that he became her slave.
For me, a union between Gideon and Emma would actually be poetic and beautiful — the children of dark and light magic. Gideon and Emma have such interesting contrasts and inverted parallels that Hook and Emma just don’t. From a narrative perspective, a Gideon and Emma pairing is almost as compelling as Emma and Baelfire were.
Emma is born of true love, and Gideon was born of his parents’ true love, however strained it might be at present due to Rumple’s addiction to dark magic.
Both Emma and Gideon grew up as de facto orphans without parental love and security.
Emma wields light magic; whereas, Gideon wields dark margic.
Emma and Gideon learned about their destiny on their 28th birthday.
Both Gideon and Emma seem to understand what it is to be on their own and to be in need of hope, as Emma said.
Both Gideon and Emma had the call to adventure. For Emma, it was from Henry to be the savior. For Gideon, it was from Roderick to be the hero he was meant to be. Emma and Gideon could have awesome potential.
It’s almost like Gideon were Baelfire 2.0 but with magic.

ParticipantI actually really like Gideon as a character. They have done a good job with him and the actor did a great job last episode. If the show had more time, I would be down to see Emma and Gideon together. And that’s saying how much I like Gideon considering how I don’t have a problem with Hook.

I agree that Gideon is a really interesting character. I think part of it is due to the actor (what with his easy British charm), but I also think his narrative arc is interesting. He has a lot of inverted parallels to Emma, as I already wrote. What I want to see is more of the Emma and Gideon dynamic. Both having magic and similar backgrounds is really interesting. Both potentially being saviors is doubly interesting.

ParticipantI think once characters try to kill one another it is a deal breaker for me. They shouldn’t date after that. Gideon is being controlled though, so it is better then him dating Hook or Regina, but still. I don’t think the guy is a good actor either. I just think he is really over acting and that feels unrealistic to me. The stupid black cloak has not helped. I haven’t liked any of Gideon’s scenes honestly because he keeps talking to Emma instead of Rumpel and Belle. Has he spoken to Belle? Honestly, the whole storyline is just dumb to me, but i don’t like Rumpel and Belle and pretty much just don’t watch their scenes.

ParticipantHas he spoken to Belle?
Waiy, yeah….. Have we seen Gideon and Belle together outside of the dream thing? I don’t think we have o.o

Yes, we did at the tail end of 6×10 and again in 6×11, but only for a really fleeting moment.

ParticipantYeah, i guess there have been the “don’t do it” Gideon moments with Belle. It was just after seeing that whole episode where Gideon was reading the book and talking about Belle for them to not show him have a good conversation with just Belle, seemed like a mistake. I imagine that conversation will be important near the end of the arc, maybe.
Though, it seems like people are going to be cursed for part of the last two episodes, so who knows what that will mean for this show. There just doesn’t feel like a lot of time left and they seem to be wasting it right now.

ParticipantU guys ever read the early posts from this thread? Gosh….how naïve we were, eh? :3 Anyway, just wanted to put this here (its something Hjbau said in another thread):
Emma and Neal reunited, driving off in the bug makes complete narrative sense.
