ParticipantI thought Hook’s speech to David in 6×22 was pretty telling:
‘Granted, it was hardly love at first sight…All right? Emma and I were never a predestined love story, guaranteed a happy ending.’
Indeed, how very meta of Hook! Of course Emma and Hook weren’t always meant to be! Why? Because it was fate and destiny (A&E) who brought together SF and meant for them to be together.

ParticipantBetween that quote and the fact they never got a TLK, I’m taking it as A&E admitting what the actual story was intended to be. Alas the “apology” is too little, too late.

ParticipantUsing a old post about Baelfire name by @Slurpeez, something stricked me .
The etymology of Baelfire’s name and the meaning connected to that name are interesting to consider. I have read elsewhere that bael-fire is a Celtic pagan term meaning “bonfire” and is connected to the pagan celebration of Beltane, spring’s arrival festival. Traditionally in Ireland, a bael-fire was lit and its embers lasted until morning to welcome the coming dawn of spring. In Scotland, the bael-fire was connected to a purification ritual. Also, the term bael-fire was used to refer to a beacon atop a hill lit at night. Finally, it is a dated term that referred to a fire-pyre used in funeral services.
The bold ones, were the one that made me connect, Baelfire as “LIGHT” that lights the night, and made me thing, mostly bc Lucy also means LIGHT.
Lucy is an English and French feminine given name derived from Latin masculine given name Lucius with the meaning as of light (born at dawn or daylight, maybe also shiny, or of light complexion)
Find interesting that connection of Light.

Firstly, @Phee I’ve missed you! Next, yes, I agree. I was more than a little bit satisfied when Emma and Henry shared another TLK while Emma and Hook never did. The characters kept on declaring CS as having TL though the show never gave them the final without-a-doubt all-important TLK.

I think Baelfire’s name was very significant — as was Neal Cassidy. You could tell the writers spent a lot of time thinking of the significance of both of his aliases. It’s such a shame they let such an original and awesome character go. But let’s hope we get a proper SF-style story with Henry and whoever Lucy’s mom is. (Could it be Violet?)

The way they showed TL for CS was bizarre. It was all through random plot devices that have never been seen nor heard from since.
But let’s hope we get a proper SF-style story with Henry and whoever Lucy’s mom is. (Could it be Violet?)
I don’t think it’s Violet at all. I think Rainbow might be right that it’s Elena of Avalor

It makes me wonder all the more how this whole thing went down, and who (or what alliance of forces) was behind promoting CS and getting rid of Neal. For example, do we know if JMo was on board with CS?
It just seems to me that if you take out Gideon and insert Neal in his place, you get a very different story that makes so much more sense emotionally, especially in view of the “light can only vanquish light” prophecy, and of the name Baelfire — as the comments by @Slurpeez and @Rainbow bring up. Then it would make sense why Henry would be prophesizing — it’d be essentially about his parents.
Insert in there somewhere a plot about Neal trying to save a realm of tortured children from the Black Fairy, and somehow becoming heart controlled by her, and you get a pretty symmetrical story that makes a lot of sense. Then along the way you can probably also explain a lot of Rumple’s bad decisions. This doesn’t even hinge on SF being together in the present — it just hinges on the plot accepting that they have true love. And then the final battle and the scene with Emma sacrificing herself would have been absolutely logical and emotionally quite powerful. I do have a feeling that this might have been the original intention behind the “final battle.”

ParticipantFirstly, @phee I’ve missed you!
Hi slurpeez! <3 I do actually stick my nose into the forums now and then, but I’ve just reached the point where I’m so over the nonsense that is this show, that I’m not inspired to type up meaningful comments about it. And any comments I DO feel the urge to make, are typically laden with expletives, which I can’t exactly post here. LOL
The opening scene with Henry and Lucy is the most compelling character moment I’ve witnessed on this show in ages, and I almost hate to admit how curious I am about what they do with the characters, because I’m quite sure it’ll just lead to disappointment, unless by some miracle the writers have actually learned from all the stuff they’ve done WRONG and make an effort to do better next season.

ParticipantIf its she is who Rainbow say it is. My baby sister will actually be a new viewer since she loves that character.

ParticipantFor example, do we know if JMo was on board with CS?
She’d toe the company line and be positive whenever asked about it in interviews. But she’s also the one who chose that wedding dress for Emma, and do we really think that JMo has no idea about the implications of that particular dress? I don’t think it’s coincidence that Emma has gradually become more haggard looking over the last couple of seasons. I think that was something that JMo was projecting, because of how she felt about the nonsense they kept giving her to say and do on camera. What was the comment on her haitus haircut photo…3 years of baggage cut off, or words to that effect?
It just seems to me that if you take out Gideon and insert Neal in his place, you get a very different story that makes so much more sense emotionally,
So many things make so much more sense if you sub Neal back into the story. They attempted to do some of the same stuff they’d have done if Neal were there instead, but it all just rings hollow without him, because there really is no substitute for an original character who was a vital piece at the centre of the mythos for the whole freaking story.

The fact they never got a TLK, despite the opportunities for it are very interesting. Very, very interesting.
