All Emma wants, I think deep down inside, is her happy ending. She wants her family and her home and her life. I think Emma really wants that fairy tale ending, but things keep getting in the way, so she keeps running. As long as you run, then you never have to stop and take the happy ending, which is what Snow ultimately decides to do.

Yes! Back when Emma was a teenager, all she wanted was a home. Her dream was settling down in Tallahassee with Neal, getting a job and setting up a home together. When he broke her heart, Emma still didn’t let go of that dream and even spent two years in Tallahassee, probably hoping that Neal would meet her there. Deep down that longing to belong to family hasn’t left her. She was just scared of it when Henry showed up on her doorstep. She didn’t know how to be a mother or what to do. Yet, somehow Henry got through to her and she ended up fighting for him. The next thing she knew, she had broken the sleeping curse, and, by consequence, the dark curse. Suddenly, she wasn’t just a mother, but also a daughter who had a heritage, a family history, and a place where she belonged. She found herself back in her country of birth, saw where she came from, and fought to get back to her son. Then the next big twist is that her fairytale land identity actually led her back to Neal, the man she never stopped loving! She is scared that it’s too good to be true, that she’ll lose him again, because she did in 2×21. As he was falling through the portal, Emma’s walls came crumbling down and she revealed her heart’s desire: that she loves him and needs him! When has Emma even owned up to needing anyone? Never, except for Neal! She was devastated when she thought he’d died and felt robbed by destiny of the opportunity of having lost him the first time, realizing he never stopped loving her either, and then angry that she’d just lost him a second time. Yet, when she found out he could still be alive, she was afraid to accept it, to open herself up to all that pain of possibly losing him again, because it was easier just to shut down and not deal with it again. While her parents recognize that Emma was heartbroken when their daughter lost Neal, they’re trying to instill hope into Emma that she could have her happy moments with Neal if only she’d allow herself. Yet, Emma thinks that as the savior she’s somehow forever going to be fated not to have happy ending of her own, because bad things keep happening. Fate may have brought her and Neal together, but it also kept them apart because she had a destiny to fulfill. Now Emma is using that as an excuse to hide behind because she’s terrified that she be a victim once more to a cruel fate of having Neal ripped form her once more. She believes the price of her magic a the savior means not getting to have Neal, because that is what her own experience has taught her. She thinks her parents are wrong on this one, yet they know better. Snowing knows from their own experience that being apart means fighting that much harder to find a way to be together. Emma has to learn this lesson for herself, I believe, and stop letting her fears get in the way of her belief in her love for Neal for her to finally get her chance at happily ever after.

Yes love conquers hate in the end and I’m firm believer in that! I tweeted MRJ my support.

Yes! We’ve said this many times, I think, but the ILY were great but it was the “I need you!” that really hit home. For the briefest of moments, all those walls came crumbling down and Emma was just a lost girl about to loose the first person who ever made her feel like she had a home.

That Adam replies to those people, trying to pacify them is what I do not get.  I don’t think it helps but some of these people are actually, mentally unstable and it is a real worry that they might try to harm the actors beyond just words.
Apparently there’s been some crazy fans of the BBC series Sherlock upset about a female character being cast because they were picturing the two main characters together and someone said this thing that fits here (it may have been one of the actors ..can’t remember) “These people are not fan of the show, they are fans of a show going on in their heads.”

I’m a fan of the show, and all the characters and much as I love this tiny aspect of the show and am rooting for SF–it isn’t the only path I can see for the writers to give Neal and Emma a happy ending.   So far though, I feel they’ve been writing the story that these are two people who had fairy-tale problems and self-doubts come between them, but the love is still there waiting for them to overcome all of these things that keep them apart.

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass

Visiting from the CS ship to say that I can’t STAND when people tweet or posf negative things about the actors!!!  Being a CS shipper I know that we do come down on Neal really harshly (I think for most of us only in regard to a relationship with Emma) but I always try make it clear that I am not trying to bash on MRJ when something I am posting about the CHARACTER he portrays could be misconstrued to be directed at HIM.  I know the actors typically don’t read these boards but I would feel terrible if they did and thought I was disliking THEM as opposed to something their character did.  And really, even if they never DO read these boards why say anything mean about an actor???  Goodness, some people get emotionally invested in a very WRONG way if they feel the need to bash REAL people.

Personally I always feel bad for MRJ because I feel like he does get a like of hate and that has got to suck.  And I think from some of hjs responses to tweets you can tell it does bother him.  Like the time someone tweeted and asked him if ANYONE prefers Neal to Hook and he responded that his mom does (but she also likes Colin).  OUCH!!

And the stuff about Jared???  I have a 12 year old son and I can’t even imagine.  My son performs too and they learn early on that they can’t take things personally but they are STILL kids and during those pre-teen and early teen years when you feel like you are a freak anyway???  Being an actor doesn’t make that feeling go away.  Those kids know how to come across as confident in public but they STILL cry in private.  My mommy heart breaks for Jared.  My son and I thought he did a really good job acting like Pan, especially the part where he was walking around checking out his room.  Then we saw all these people posting that they he was awful and wished that he would leave and they would keep him locked in Pan’s body.  Even my son said that he is only 13 and still learning how to do things like that compared to Robbie who is 18 and more experienced (but who we both love too!).  Plus Jared is just in that awkward in between stage that ALL of us went through but that can be a career ender for actors.  Believe me, Jared is well aware of this so having people tweet and post that he sucks and that they wish he would be written off the show is HORRIBLE beyond comprehension.  Sorry, mommy rant over.

Yes, these people are actors who have chosen a profession that puts them in the public but they are people with real feelings.  Maybe this bothers me so much because I am a little older and we didn’t have Facebook or Twitter, etc around when I was younget to hide behind if you wanted to be rude to someone.  These things are great but they also allow people to say things they would NEVER say to someone in person, and they allow for multiple people to gang up and be rude.  In the past, even if you did have a negative opinion of someone you just kept it to yourself, now there are actual sites devoted to hating people!!  That’s nuts!!!

What bothers me so much about the hatred toward MRJ is that sometimes you will actors who play VILLAINS on a show say they have people come up to them on the street and yell at them that they hate them.  And, while strange and creepy, they try to take that as a compliment because it means they must be playing their part well.  Creepy because sane people would recognize THEY are NOT the character the play.  But MRJ does NOT play a villian.  So saying that you hate him is just creepy all around or totally immature. And to attack his acting is just a hideous thing to do.  Sometimes I don’t like the way the bagger at the grocery store bags my groceries but I’m not gonna tweet them that bagging skills suck!!  And that actually DOES directly affect me.  But there is no need to shout it to the world on a website.

Anyway, sorry to burst in and rant but I completely agree with all of you about this.

    Ship on SF friends!!

The sad things is if Pan is successful with his curse, Emma will lose Neal for yet a third time. How can she overcome that fear when it keeps being reinforced. So its not the fear that Neal may leave her again, its the fear she may lose him again. That every time they get close he will be ripped away and her heart will bleed and long for him.
Its like how do we overcome our self doubts, fears, distortions when they keep being reinforced how do we go beyond the trauma, go beyond the hurt, go beyond the pain. By what Charming and Snow said, we enjoy the good moments and we enjoy the love.
Snowing is not about unicorn and rainbow kisses they are about hope, faith, and love.

And this is what I love about Swanfire, the complexities of simply being human. I look forward to seeing Neal and Emma overcoming their obstacles of hurt, doubts, and fears with their hope, faith, and love.

What I like about SwanFire is that Neal is respectful to all women, not just Emma because he wants to get in her pants, unlike Hook.

Thanks for your post. I think it’s something both sides agree on. There are lines. The actors do not write the show.

Anyone remember the backlash Josh got after an #AskJosh where he said that David thought Neal was a good guy? So many fans came down on him so hard (for various reasons not the least of which was shipping) that Josh actually deleted the original tweet and reassured people that David was warming up to Hook. It’s…rather horrible.

What I like about SwanFire is that Neal is respectful to all women, not just Emma because he wants to get in her pants, unlike Hook.

As of 310 I agree but this is where I’m pretty disappointed in the show right now. For the first 4 episodes I was actually warming up to Hook. I was totally digging his whole “I am going to give Emma space and I am going to respect that Neal just died. I will hold a wake for him and I will speak of Neal with high praise because I know she is hurting and I understand this.”

And then BOOM. 305 and beyond. I understand different writers write characters a bit differently but 305 felt like such a SHIFT and then they got Neal back and *insert long rant about lack of CaptainFire here*
