ParticipantHowever, if you checck this frame of the promo( above), i think i notice now something that no one still talked, i think this is a new scene, maybe from 3×12 and why you ask, or maybe im not seeing weel, but if you look into the superior left corner of the pic, you can see a window, and in that window you see a car passing ( or at least looks like a car), so this cannot be 2×14, becuase they were in an apartment.
What do you think?
It’s a new clip. We actually talked about this about 20 pages back if you want to look. You can see here there was a side-by-side comparison between the new clip from 3×12 and the old clip from 2×14. Basically, we all agreed that in 2×14 Emma was wearing a black coat with a red scarf but in 3×12 she is wearing a red coat and black turtleneck. Also, her hair is slightly different and so is the camera angle.

Yes, that’s already been discussed, and it’s definitely a new scene from 312. The lighting, her position, and her clothing are all different.
ETA, SNAP slurpeez, we musta both hit submit at the same moment. LOL

It’s probably just her arm lifting up to unhook the dreamcatcher. She’s wearing a red coat in this ep, and the moving blurry bit is red.

KeymasterHis papa created a curse, which ultimately resulted in Neal meeting Emma, the love of his life, and giving him the gift of fatherhood. For as long as he lives, he’ll know he got something right. It’s true magic destroyed his family, but it’s also true that magic helped bring him and Emma together to create Henry. Now all he needs to do is believe in the truth of his father’s words that happiness is possible, even for him, to believe in his second chance.
🙁 wonderfully put

ParticipantOh gosh, I wanted SO BADLY for someone awesome to make a SF video to that song, “See You Again”, and use more recent SF footage (there are actually two SF videos out there with that song but they all use older footage) and now that I know one is out there, I’m angry/relieved that I can’t watch it at work right now. Angry because I REALLY want to see it (and I love CocoaGirlie’s videos) but relieved because I’m still dehydrated from all the crying I’ve done in the last two days and I just can’t cry anymore. I should also do some actual work during my work day today. I have to work at my holiday job until midnight later tonight so I may not get to chat with you guys until tomorrow so I fully expect this thread to be way past 300 pages by that point! 😉
I LOVE how many of you guys have put #HopeforSwanFire in your siggy lines!! Warms my still slightly broken SF heart that we’re all in this together! =)

ParticipantWhile it is not much, the little things add up. Emma was afraid that being the savior meant no day off. She just had a year off! Neal knew that they would see each other again. He had hope, which Emma needed. She did not want to leave and I agree she was already teary-eyed and upset before Hook approached her, so a lot of emotion carried over. She still had not rejected him at this point so what else could she say? Emma never had time to sort through what she feels.
The writers wanted to take the break and set up that Happy Endings are not always what we think. At no point have Neal and Emma claimed each other as that, but the fairytale characters all kept thinking of a narrow goal as “their happy ending”. Regina had be with son Henry, Rumple had being good father to son, and Hook revenge, then swapped to obtaining new love.
If the story for Hook was “his happy ending is Emma” this season as someone said on the CSF thread, that the writers were telling us that is how Hook thought, then perhaps they are saying his is not as he thought either, a life with Emma. Perhaps we can ship spin “foreshadowing” that Hook’s good looks do fail him, that it is “ironic” foreshadowing that he is not actually in it for the long haul as he thought, and that it is simply a statement reflecting the truth that Emma does not feel for him as he does for her–and that eventually he will want his happy ending with someone who appreciates it.
Emma has grown up differently, and she has Henry. She is never going to match the reckless, give-it-all-you-have gusto that Hook has because she is cautious and she also does have very real commitments to other people in her life. She cannot put Hook’s happiness anywhere near the top of her priority list, and Hook’s chasing after her, because he thinks she is the key to his happiness, and thinks he’s in love with her. Yet he doesn’t really know her all that well, so I still feel he is in love with the idea of her more than who she truly is.
I think Neal really does understand these parts of her, and her hesitation and need for assurance. Hook’s parting words were about how he would think about her every day, echoing how Neal thought of her with regret when separated, but this time Neal is not regretful but hopeful. He knew he would see Emma and Henry again. Emma needed to hear that.
The time jump makes sense as Henry’s actor aged, so we all knew something like that had to happen, but it also means that the writers are going to have time to build up some distance in Emma’s emotions towards Hook. The whole raw emotion of gratitude for his help in NL fades a bit, and even though she’ll likely feel thankful again for his help with restoring her memories, at the same time, it is also likely to be a bittersweet moment for her. She will have ALL that pain and emotion rush back, conflicting realities in her head and it is hard to say if the writers are just going to ignore the opportunity for her to truly address the fact that Neal only left her because of what he felt was his duty, just as she only left everyone pre-2nd-curse as her duty, because Henry would be left alone if she didn’t. She would choose Henry, absolutely every time, but it is not that she wanted to make that choice anymore than Neal or anyone else wanted to leave her.
When magic comes in, these painful things are going to happen, and Neal crossed worlds to be with Emma. I have no idea why he is not the one to go find her in NY but the writers better have a GOOD explanation why. He jumped on a shadow, at the slight risk to a small child (and I feel any danger from Shadow-gate is now sort of too remote since the shadow is dead). He was DESPERATE to see them, and I cannot imagine, even with the sadness that maybe Emma does not want him as a romantic partner that he would not still feel intensely motivated to see his son. That makes zero sense for his character.
If the writers want to develop CS, if they want me to like it, then they cannot go ruining other characters to make it happen. I won’t enjoy the story and conversely, I cannot imagine anyone who loves Hook enjoying seeing Hook’s character growth upended either. As long as Hook wants Emma, and sees her as his only reason for redemption, they are going to root for that. So it has to make sense in the story so we will see more things play out.
“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass

They do add up which is why I believe Neal will always best fit Emma’s dream of a home-life and family. True, Emma got a year off, but she also didn’t have her newfound memories of Neal post-curse of Hook to evaluate how she feels. For her, it will have only been like a day when she regains her true memories. Nevertheless, her fake memories will give her some perspective about the life she wishes for her and Henry: a normal life together without magic or constant threats. It all comes back to which man’s dream line up with Emma’s dream.
When magic comes in, these painful things are going to happen, and Neal crossed worlds to be with Emma. I have no idea why he is not the one to go find her in NY but the writers better have a GOOD explanation why.
From a narrative perspective, I think there is a reason to the madness of it being Hook instead of Neal. The writers have to set up a contrast. Hook represents adventure, danger and otherworldliness while Neal represents the less flashy, but still brave-hearted, kind man who fits Emma like a glove. Yet, by bringing Hook to NYC instead of Neal, the writers are making Hook a fish out of water, making it painfully obvious that Hook doesn’t belong in this world. Hook is running around the big city dressed as a pirate waving his hook around making him look like an escaped convict from a mental institution. No wonder Emma probably calls the cops on him! Hook doesn’t belong in Emma’s world of NYC with her. Instead, he’s been sent to call her back to the world of fantasy and make-believe. Hook might represent adventure to Emma, but he also represents danger to the life she’s built for herself and Henry. By calling Emma back to SB or EF, Hook is asking Emma once again to put on her armor as the savior, to risk her life and Henry’s, for the sake of her family. For all we know, not only are Emma’s parents in jeopardy but so could Neal be in danger! Perhaps Neal sent Hook as a last recourse, or because he believes Emma favors Hook, but the point is, Hook sticks out like a sore thumb and doesn’t jive with Emma’s current happy abode or chosen lifestyle.
By contrast, Neal is the lost boy to Emma’s lost girl who, like her is from another world but called this one home once. He knows this world like she does and feels more comfortable in A Land Without Magic due to magic destroying his family once. Emma and Neal are end-game though, so the idea of Neal, Emma and Henry settling down together is Emma’s idea of a happy ending. She got a taste of that this past year. Taking a year off to raise her son has probably caused her to realize that her idea of a happy ending simply is having a good life in NYC with her son. And who best fits that mold? It’s Neal! He was independently living in NYC with a job and an apartment. It’d make the most sense for Neal to wind up back in the city with Emma and Henry as their everyday happily ever after scenario. We had a glimpse of Emma waking up at 8:15 to the same song “Charley’s Girl” that Neal was listening to back in 2×1! This shows pretty conclusively that both Emma and Neal share the same tastes, dream and hope, which is simply to have a good, normal, and honest family life together. Their dream is so simple when compared to the pirate escapades that Hook probably envisions for himself and Emma on the high seas. Hook will always have the sea in the blood. By contrast, all Neal wants is to build a home with Emma and Henry.
