They need to leave room for drama though–too soon in the life of the show for a happy ending!

I agree, while I do think Swanfire is endgame, I think there is going to be an in-between phase for Emma which will focus heavily on CaptainSwan.

Good point; better to be secure in oneself and to hold out for True Love than settle for a string of boyfriends. However, I could see a strong bond between Emma and Captain Hook develop in which she relies on him as an ally and a friend to help save her family, and she helps him to overcome his need for revenge and to move past all the hurt he’s been carrying. I really like Captain Hook and Emma as really good, flirty friends, and I certainly think there already is some heavy attraction between Emma and Captain Hook. Yet, I don’t see them being each other’s True Love. Emma may be attracted to Hook (she’s human after all), but I don’t think she’ll strongly reciprocate romantic feelings for Killian, unless she truely believes Neal is gone forever and enough time passes for her grief to heal some. Yet, I don’t think Neal is really dead, and I think he will re-enter Emma’s life in the not-so-distant future (maybe midway through S3). While I could see Killian develop real feelings for Emma, and she may share some of that attraction in return, I don’t think she’d allow herself to ever fall for him completely, because her love for Neal is too strong and burns too brightly to go out.

I do like the romance sub-plots though so I like to analyze them. And it is fair to say while modern thinking is romance isn’t necessary for happiness, it isn’t that romance prevents it. You don’t “need” a man, but it’s ok to want that type of love and hope to find it when it is right for you. So that’s the storyline I hope to see for Emma–a love that is right for her, but also see her love for her family and her identity outside of that romance.
I’m not 100% sure which way the writing will go but if I see a genuine connection for Emma and whoever they put her with, then I’ll cheer it on.“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. No way. After the confession of love from Swanfire, I dont think Emma could go for anyone else for awhile even if she thinks he is dead.
May 6, 2013 at 5:58 pm #191538HappyEndingsSpectatorI want her with someone new, someone stable and who isn’t an attempted killer or someone who abandoned her because he had daddy issues.
I agree with this person if she needs to be with someone but right now she has no home, just met her family, putting out fires so to speak every other day.
May 6, 2013 at 6:05 pm #191545thebassgalParticipantI’m new to this theory game for Once, but here’s my stab at it. I think Hook is going to flip back once he finds out what happened to Bae. I think he will help Emma and the Charmings get to NL/FTL/wherever Bae went to redeem himself. I mean, Hook is the reason Tamara and Greg got their hands on the trigger in the first place, even though he didn’t know about it. And we could clearly see during Regina’s torture that Hook wasn’t down with destroying SB. He has allied himself with people who want to destroy SB (Cora, Tamara/Greg, Regina) but his endgame has always been to “skin the crocodile.” Maybe this will be his redemption? I dunno.
1. Does Hook know that Neal is Bae? If he does, does he know Henry is Nealfire’s son? I think the answer right now to both of these is “no” unless my fuzzy head (3 sick babies and now I’m catching it) is betraying me here. I think he has yet to find out, although I am fairly certain he will find out in the finale.
This could go one of three ways:
A. Hook sees this is his perfect opportunity to completely destroy Rumple and he goes after Henry too.
B. Hook goes to Bae’s rescue. I’m leaning towards this one because there are spoiler pictures of the Charmings/Emma/Rumple onboard the Jolly Roger. I think there is a falling out between Bae and Hook over something. But I think Hook will protect young Bae in NL because he is all that is left of Milah and he does it in Milah’s memory. It doesn’t mean the happiness will last forever, but I do think Bae will be happy with a “normal”-ish father-figure for a while until he finds out that Hook is hellbent on destroying his father. Perhaps Bae will find out the truth about Rumple killing Milah and realize that Hook means to kill Rumple.
C. Hook doesn’t play a pivotal role in the new adventure and the Jolly Roger is simply stolen from him by the Charmings/Emma/Rumple to find Henry after Tamara/Greg go through the portal with him (presumably to NL).We know there were 3 beans. Tamara used 1 to get rid of Nealfire. Tamara and Greg use 1 to take Henry to FTL/NL/Unknown Land. Where is the 3rd bean going to be used? I am guessing by Hook to steer the Jolly Roger to NL. So that’s all 3 beans being used.
As far as SwanFire, I do think it’s the endgame, but it might be a LONG time before we see a reunion. Maybe Season 3 finale even. However, above is my theory on Hook’s role in Emma’s life.

I don’t think Hook knows about Neal right now (and of course Neal disappears right when he and Hook could interact! ARG). I really want to see Hook/Neal interaction because I bet Hook and Bae were not sworn enemies. I think Bae was a part of Hook’s crew.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 6, 2013 at 6:12 pm #191549lilysmomParticipantWhy would Tamara and Greg want to use a magic bean to go to another land? They hate magic. That theory just does not seem plausible to me.
