    Shcmacky is wise

Yep. Yep yep. The hardest part of shipping Swanfire is the OUAT fandom in general and the Neal haters. They really bring my shipping mood down.

I notice when I’m away from Tumblr and/or go on my ignore sprees, I’m much more carefree and hopeful for Swanfire.

The thing is, honestly, about Swanfire… if they aren’t going to do anything with Neal and Emma then I find the story of Emma and Neal maybe-sorta-yes-but-no feelings for each other pointless and stupid.

If Emma and Neal aren’t going to get together then what was the point of having Emma still love a man 10+ years later even after thinking he sold her out to the cops? Like… what is the point of that? It’s not good drama if she really doesn’t love him or doesn’t get with him eventually. It’s only good drama if she does.

What was the point of Tamara? Or separating them time and time again? If they aren’t going to do anything with Neal and Emma then they would sort out their issues and be clear of it and move on to a different type of relationship. As co-parents and friends. And if they really wanted to do a love triangle for Emma and Hook then they could have brought in any man … but not in her past.

To me, it’s beyond pointless storytelling to do all this to Neal and Emma for it to end up as “haha jk! They don’t really love one another. Nevermind!”

THIIIIISSSSSS!!! Honestly, they’ve gone to so much effort to construct SF’s story, and to KEEP IT GOING when they could have quite easily written the story as going in the opposite direction, and shutting their relationship down instead. All that effort would go to waste and make no sense if SF wasn’t the intended endgame. Would they really just throw away all the time and effort they’ve put into it? Unlikely IMO. Just looking at the way they’ve been building the story, it seems like a no brainer IMO that the natural, logical progression and culmination of that story is for them to eventually get it together.

RumplesGirl wrote: GAH. So many feelings about this! I love the idea. Of course they take him in. He’s lost EVERYTHING at this point.

I adore this idea, too! I would love to see Snow and David reach out to Neal, their last true connection to Emma and Henry. I hope he becomes like the son they never had! They can find out more about the life Emma had growing up without them from him. I also hope that Belle and Neal form a tight familial bond and that she’ll also be like a mother/sister figure to him.

Oh you know that Snowing will totally treat him like he’s already their son-in-law. It warms my heart to know that Neal and Snowing will still have a living connection to Emma and Henry, because they’ll still have each other. And Neal will still have a living connection to his father, because Belle is there. Neal has a family, you guys! It’s not complete right now, but it will be one day, when they get Emma, Henry, and Rumple back, and in the mean time, they still all have each other.

I just want it to be March already. Just wanna know what happens now. :-/

You and everyone else in the Onciverse! On a positive note, we have Christmas just around the corner for those of you who celebrate and then the New Year!

My super shippy prediction: Hook’s magic potion fails. It’s seeing the dreamcatcher that does the trick. It’s a last resort by Hook to get Emma to remember. Neal told Hook to take her to his place.

Naturally, I’m in favor of this prediction, but aren’t both a talisman and the Blue Fairy’s blue elixir necessary to return a person’s true identity? It wasn’t enough for Belle just to hold her chipped cup; she also had to drink Blue’s potion from it for Lacey to vanish and Belle to emerge. So, I’m thinking Emma needs Blue’s potion AND the dreamcatcher/talisman to wake up, because frankly, Hook won’t be able to get her to fall in love with him in time for TLK to work like it did for Snow and Charming in 1×16. And frankly, I doubt all of the time in the world would be enough for Emma really to fall for Hook’s attentions. Hook said it himself. He’s Emma’s “good friend” who is her to help her remember. Yet, it “was a long shot” that TLK would work.

I seriously need for this to happen! Obviously Hook still had a streak of “I want Emma” in him because of the kiss attempt, but regardless, I really do hope that CaptainFire have become closer over the course of this year. I mean, it’s been A YEAR, so if there hasn’t been some sort of relationship development with those two, it’ll be a massive missed opportunity.

Yes over the course of a year, please tell me CaptainFire have *talked* about something other than Emma

Exactly why all the drama if it’s “in the past?”

I’d like to think that’s how it goes down Slurpeez.  We just never know!  We have no idea what Emma believes her life has been like other than she is living in NY, still wearing the ring pendant, presumably has a bug for a car, and calls Henry kid.

About Neal being in the FTL with Belle and the Charmings–

I kind of feel like Neal is a bit like Stitch.  Not in the mischief making reformed evil way, but in the “really just wants a family to love him”.   MRJ even has “Ohana” tattoo apparently.

I want to see why Emma doesn’t love Neal if that is how she feels, but I do think she kept the bug out of love, and the pendant.  I think she’s said she knew the instant she saw him again that she still loved him.  People want to pretend she was “fine” but that was her trying to cope with the heartbreak, the same way he tried to cope with it.  They didn’t WANT to part, because their relationship was wonderful.  He was not abusive, he didn’t undermine her or tear her down.  If anything, he believed in her so completely that he let her risk herself for him, even though he’s the one who feels like he has to pay for his own mistakes.    He just wanted to be with her so badly, that even though he knew the “steal the watches ” plan was a bad idea, and risky, he went for it.

We’ll never know what he was going to say to her about Canada, whether he really meant that he was breaking up with her or rather–he had to cross alone.  The way he gets interrupted with her plan, and the fact he agrees to it, with such relief, it seems to me he wasn’t planning on breaking up with her but even parting from her for long enough to avoid risking her getting picked up as his accomplice stressed him out.  That’s why he talked about how hard it is to cross.  Plus, he probably didn’t even necessarily have a US passport, considering well–we don’t even know how he got to this world.

I hope they get another shot at that conversation in Manhattan–in a weird way, August stole the better Rumple-son reunion speech I think.  So perhaps the writers owe Neal the chance to at least have one talk go right with someone he cares about, without further misunderstandings creeping into it because of anger and fear about the righteous anger.

Neal would be calmer this time without the guilt about Tamara, with the knowledge that Emma loves him and will probably always love him.  He’d be able to explain–and exposition means we don’t have to worry about seeing August.

They’ve been so underwhelming with reveals, I hope I’m right that it is as simple as blood magic meant Pan could track Neal and he had to leave.  He couldn’t even go back to Emma lest Pan would know where she was and that August tracked him the same way as Pan might.  We never did find out which “little fairy” told August–what if it was the mysteriously name dropped Black Fairy who was exiled somewhere.

Since they didn’t tie that backstory into Pan and the Darlings it would feel anti-climactic to get into it now, unless there’s even more to the tale.   I just hope there’s a good fairytale reason that Neal had to leave and not go back, not contact her, something to explain the “if I can’t be there, you have to promise you will be.” Neal thought he couldn’t stay–not that he could and was chosing to go out of fear.  So I want to know what August said that made him think he had to “promise to steer clear”.  In hindsight, Neal might still kick himself for listening and not taking the risk–but perhaps it was a wise risk not to take.

If it helps us get some mythology reveal on the black fairy too–that could be really cool and not just something we shippers agonize over but everyone else is like “really, does it matter?”

Yup. Back in 310 when the reunion photos came out, someone made a mash of them of Neal with the Floof family, Emma/Henry and the Darlings and then the GIF under it was

If anything, he believed in her so completely that he let her risk herself for him, even though he’s the one who feels like he has to pay for his own mistakes.

YES. He knew that given the chance she could fulfill her destiny

Agreed. I want another talk about this

    just a friendly reminder:

“She’s actually met a kindred spirit because he’s also stealing the car. What they knew at a young age, was the simple things were the important things. Being with each other, being in love, and finding a place to be together. They just wanted to love their lives and find a family, and wanted to be together.” – Adam (from The Price Of Magic special)

    Carry on and ship SF!

Holy cow! Just saw this clip posted on Tumblr of MRJ on another show. Boy does he have real acting chops on par with Bobby Carlyle Now if only the writers would use that fact more frequently then this show would explode in a good way! Warning: clip contains profanity.

That’s from Terriers, which I’d love to track down and watch some time, (was canceled after just one season). I also need to watch the first season of True Blood, (which I gave up on after just a couple of eps when it first came out). Here’s a montage of clips of him in that, (again: profanity warning)…

I just need to leave this here:

This is part of why I hate the triangle so much.  Neal is a character who HAS a storyline–his father just died, he recently became a father and is losing his son just weeks after finding him.  He isn’t given enough screentime, nor is Belle, and a large part of why (I think) is the time devoted to building up Hook for the obvious fan-girl contingent /eye-candy factor.

Hook does have  more depth than that, absolutely,  but a lot has been stripped away and it makes the character less interesting  than as a complicated villain who longs to be a hero but doesn’t quite know how to get there because he just can’t help himself.   That’s more in line with the original Hook, in the play but in the Disney version he’s just comic relief, the antagonist but a buffoon a bit.  There are these elements to Hook still, the whole Captain Floor thing, the insulting of his lackey Smee, and other odd moments with Tink–but overall these are downplayed a lot..but only if Emma is in the scene, Unless Regina or Rumple are in it  too.  I’m sure there are exceptions–but mostly in S2.   In S3 I feel that pattern has been pretty consistent .
