KeymasterI don’t have any new images to add, but this quotation from The Lion King seems to apply well to Emma and Neal’s relationship. When Simba is grown and seeking knowledge about his father, Mufasa, the wise but slightly nutty Rafiki literally slaps him over the head:
Oh yes, the past can hurt. But you can either run from it, or learn from it.”
Oh perfect quote for SwanFire.
Tonight some of us rewatched 301. One of my favorite moments and it fits with Slurpeez’s quote

I think that if anyone has learned from his past mistakes, it’s Neal. He’s already admitted that he let his fear of rejection stand in the way of his love for Emma. He apologized to Emma for everything, and stated his regrets. He’s told her he’s fighting for her, yet still leaving it up to her to decide what she wants. She said to Neal that it would be easier for her not to face all the pain she went through before. Yet, as Rafiki has said, you can run or learn from the past. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing Emma deciding to do the very real thing of facing her past head-on and for Neal to be telling Emma how much he loves her. She’s currently cursed, but I think her losing her true memories will make it that much more poignant when Emma discovers her true memories. And I think it’s her and Neal’s dreamcatcher which will be her wake-up call.
"That’s how you know you’ve really got a home. When you leave it, there’s this feeling that you can’t shake. You just miss it." Neal Cassidy

ParticipantIf the dreamcatcher doesn’t have a role in helping to wake her up from her cursed memories, I’ll be so disappointed.

Exactly. He is truly repentant although he made the right choice in letting Emma go. Yes, he made a mistake later on but who on this show hasn’t?
And I think it’s her and Neal’s dreamcatcher which will be her wake-up call.
the look on her face says it all. Hope, wonder, joy and confusion. “Why is this here? Why does he have it? and then BOOM. Oh right…I’m Emma Swan, savior. And he’s Neal Cassidy, Champion

ParticipantBtw, I love that the name Neal means champion! I mean how perfect. 🙂 It’s like they planned it all along or something… 😀

Planning?!
Goodness. Whatever gave you THAT idea.

ParticipantActually, speaking of his name, and planning, this was buried in the thread, but there’s a connection to the name Neal in Barrie’s life. Someone found excerpts from a literary analysis thing telling the story of a little boy named Neil who Barrie may have used as inspiration for Peter Pan.
The Blot on Peter Pan Anyway just a cute little aside.

ParticipantThank you so much for all the happy pictures, videos, and thoughts that you’ve all posted today! I thought I was safe from the obsessive CS people on a few boards that I still read but they were back out in full force and it just bummed me out. If this is what people think true love looks like, then I’m going to be single forever because I will never believe in it. I don’t think I’ll ever understand how people can think that CS is true love when they’ve NEVER spent any alone time together, never talked about having a relationship, have only kissed ONE TIME and Hook had to practically beg Emma for it, she’s still in the dark about some pretty big things that he’s done, he’s left her for dead at least two times all ready and has NEVER apologized for any bad thing he’s ever done, and a relationship between the two of them WILL RESULT in one of them having to change to please the other which NEVER works in relationships, fairy tale or otherwise. I really think people need to get their heads screwed on better about what constitutes a positive relationship. I get sadder and sadder about humanity every single day, LOL 😆 😥
BTW-Can we start up a protest towards the media and their OBSESSIVE nature of propping up CS because it’s being noticed by non shipping Oncers now and they’re not happy about it either. Seriously, just let the show happen and stop trying to shove an agenda down my throat. I’m perfectly capable of making up my own mind about what’s on the show and they’re really not helping with the huge divides that are growing bigger every day in the fandom. I predict that the entire fandom will be broken into a thousand pieces by the end of S3 if they don’t knock it off. 😥
Happy things…..well, I don’t have any happy stuff to share but just because I get frustrated with the media and those weird delusional people that keep popping up on my favorite sites (which I will be frequenting a lot less during this hiatus), I will never give up on SwanFire or the fact that the writers have been planning their story for a long time. Bring it on writers!! 😀

At some point ABC is going to realize that their marketing campaign—whatever it may be–isn’t actually working. That’s not to say the writing is stellar (I may be changing my overall grade for this season from a B+ to a B), but what ABC is doing isn’t helping the ratings. Adam can tout “#1 scripted drama on broadcast” but..that isn’t actually saying much given that on Sunday it’s actually very little in the way of scripted drama on broadcast. And the non-scripted stuff has much higher demos and live viewers
(omg. I know way too much about ratings and this show)
First Sunday without ONCE for 12 weeks. How we doing?
