All the tension they set up between August/Emma/Neal was just washed away, and I can’t help but wonder if part of the plan of the writers was –let’s do this with Hook in a parallel way instead. I hope the writers do not make that mistake again of sweeping the conflicts here under the rug.
I agree and I really hope this is the case. I want Emma and Hook to be BFFs and I think Neal will be a starting point for them down this road

If they’re ever going to grow closer, romantically or platonically, then they need a firm foundation other than flirtation upon which to build a relationship.

Yes! And I think we saw the start of that with the sneak peek. Is it totally messed up that as a SF shipper, I’m really looking forward to the CS scenes at the start of the season? 😆

I don’t mind the flirting. But it bothers me that the love triangle is being teased in the season where rescuing her son should be the top priority.

There’s just too much other stuff going on that needs to be dealt with. Don’t forget what K&H said at CC about NL being a place that makes you face who you truly are. I think that character development stuff, and saving Henry, will end up being the main focus. It’s just that shippy stuff makes for typical hype, so that’s what the promo department are pushing. But the promo department don’t actually write the show.
September 20, 2013 at 2:37 pm #211048PheeParticipantActually, didn’t K&H say stuff about NL making you face your past because you have no future? I know Hook was there before, but he was sorta pre-occupied by the whole revenge plot back then, so maybe he could block stuff out. But now, with his new mindset, and if he is developing some sort of feelings for Emma, and if NL is the place that makes you re-examine your past…I’m thinking that it’d make him pause for some serious thought before making an actual move on Emma if he’s being forced to remember the consequences of what happened when he got involved with Bae’s mother.
September 20, 2013 at 2:40 pm #211049SlurpeezParticipantThe writers have said that NL is a place where people must confront their pasts. Since time doesn’t really exist, I was speculating in a different thread that the past, present, and future will collide. I could see NL being a place where people have living dreams full of regret, like when Snow was under the sleeping curse. While I fully expect that we’ll see scenes of Emma and Neal in another real-world flashback in S3, it could even mean that Emma will have dreams/visions of Neal, which is what Adam was teasing in that tweet.
For Emma, that past she must confront certainly includes any might-have-beens in Tallahassee with Neal and raising Henry, as well as her facing her regret for not having that chance in the future, since she believes Neal to be gone.

OMG YES! Really hope they delve into this type of stuff! Urgh, S3 needs to start already!

Some shippers, and I’m not saying what ship it is, are crowing on tumblr because SwanFire got “Worst Couple on TV” on Television Without Pity website. I quit going to that site in Season one. They’re all bitter shrews, sorry people from here that post there.
It’s still canon. They can all go suck a lemon.

Wait, isn’t it a good thing in everybody else’s books (other than Swanfire fans’) that SwanFire is considered the least popular? I don’t get why they’re upset. Shouldn’t they be gloating? Maybe they’re just bitter because Emma and Neal clearly love each other. And yes, Emma and Neal are canon past and present, and I believe will always be. Also, I think this group of SwanFire fans is the most respectful group, other than Snowing or Rumbelle fans, that I’ve come across. We don’t need to yell loudly for our sincerest wishes to come true.
