I wholeheartedly endorse that idea, Mickstemp! The mere thought of it makes me want to sob.

Same here!
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"September 21, 2013 at 1:31 pm #211204SlurpeezParticipant@kfchimera – Bravo! I love your post. You made many excellent points.
@Phee – You made a lot of great points about how Emma and Neal both being from the EF but growing up in our world means that they’ll understand each other like no one else could. I love that clip of Emma and Neal’s snarky humor. To me, it’s endearing, and shows they get each other’s dry humor. Not everyone gets sarcasasm, but I do, and I see it as Emma and Neal complimenting each other really well. Also, I find it odd how the same CSers who bash Neal’s sarcastic sense of humor then find Hook’s sexual innuendos as acceptable. In my book, I’m okay with Neal’s dry humor AND Hook’s flirting (up to a point). However, where I draw the line is when Hook talked about jabbing Emma with his “sword” which to me sounded too threatening since clearly Emma was flat on her back against her will in that scene.I had a random theoretical spoilerfic thought about this pairing and felt like sharing.
It’s been speculated that we might see an Emma flashback at the opener to the day Henry was born. Keeping up the tradition of setting the opening sequence of the season in the Real World with either of the pair featured. Since this show tends to play up the whole power of love, destined theme, forever connected (you get the idea). What if they intercut her in the delivery room calling out for Neal during that flashback with a shot of Neal during the same time space waking up in the middle of night in alarm reaching out/looking up towards Emma’s dream catcher? They could also save and reveal that last bit for his episode.
YES! I have real hope that this will happen! As Phee has pointed out, Ginny’s tweet of Josh and MRJ shows him dressed in the same outfit Neal wore in the “Tallahassee” flashbacks of the dreamcatcher! In that scene, Neal was wearing a sleeveless undershirt and cargo pants (just like in Ginny’s tweet) That almost certainly means we’re going to see at least one flashback of Neal and Emma! 🙂
Also, I’ve been madly posting this picture all over the place, but I’ll add it here, too given it’s a pic of Jennifer and Michael: Ginny’s recent tweet of MRJ and Emma has fueled my dreams that Neal is currently in NL! Look at the way Emma is dressed; it’s the same outfit we’ve seen her in NL pics and sneak peeks. MRJ is dressed as he was when he fell through the portal to EF. However, the fact that Neal and Emma are sitting side by side in actors’ chairs could mean they’re filming present-day NL scenes together (or at the very least dreaming of each other and/or communicating across worlds like we know Rumple and Bell will!). I’d be beyond happy simply to have a Neal-Emma dream sequence, since at least it would show they’re with each other in spirit. 🙂

September 21, 2013 at 1:50 pm #211212PheeParticipantThat pic of them together makes me so happy!! 🙂 And it makes me LOL that Colin of all people is the one who took it. It’s the triangle that just keeps on giving. 😉
Speaking of the triangle, I was posting some stuff over in the CSF thread just before which got me thinking some more about the future of SF. This is part of what I said…
As for why it was necessary for her to go to prison, I think that was basically an insurance policy taken out by PP/THO. They needed the breakup to stick, and if Emma was locked up for a while, she couldn’t go after Neal, especially when she found out she was pregnant, because you know she’d have tried to find Neal again if she could when she found out she was pregnant.
Which brings me to yes, I think PP/THO knew she was pregnant before she did herself, because I think that whatever “sight” PP has access to, it gave him a time when the kid in the picture would be conceived, which is what he used as a guide to judge when to let Bae out of NL, and is what he used as a guide for when to have August sent to break them up. The breakup had to happen after Henry was conceived, but before Emma found out she was pregnant, otherwise PP wouldn’t be able to have the kid raised in the confines of SB and brought to him when he was old enough.
It got me thinking about the pawn-ness in PP’s plan and the prophecy. SF were definitely manipulated into producing Henry, and him being in the right place and time for PP to snatch him. I also got to thinking about Adam’s tweet that not all first love = true love. Because I ship it so hardcore, it’s always just been a foregone conclusion for me that SF are true love. But maybe they’re not…yet.
The pawn-ness and prophecy orchestrated how they met. The falling in love bit they did on their own. And it’s not part of the prophecy that SF are endgame. As far as the prophecy is concerned, SF have outlived their usefulness. So when they come back together, and re-discover who they each are now as adults, they won’t just be picking up where they left off with their love, they’ll be creating a whole new relationship. Maybe their first love wasn’t true love, but their future love will be.
September 21, 2013 at 1:53 pm #211214RumplesGirlKeymasterI think everyone is a pawn in PP’s game: Rumple, August, Neal and most of all Emma. This is a chess game. Everything had to be in position in order to get Henry out of SB for PP.
The fact that they fell in love in spite of obvious manipulation, and the fact that they love each other still at the end of the game, is what counts to me. PP is going to see how powerful their love is, and how powerful the love that created their son is.
EDIT
It’s a bad sign when you’re brushing your teeth and suddenly feel the need to come type in this thread. Normally I don’t give much consideration to parallels. I think if you look hard enough you’ll find parallels for every possible combo of people on this show. Hence my normal stance of parallel’s and cloud watching. But I did think of this and wanted to post.
Rumple and Emma are a lot alike. Both refuse to “need” other people. Emma because of her abandonment issues and her walls-up philosophy. Rumple because he’d rather rely on power because people always end up leaving him and his power is his crutch. But then I remembered this from ASOTM
Rumple: I didn’t want to wake you up to die, but I needed you.
It’s a very startling statement from Rumple to Belle. And that lead me to this:
Emma: I need you I love you!
And what is happening in that scene? She, like Rumple, is confronted with the person she loves dying. Rumple thinks Belle will die because of fail safe. Emma thinks Neal will die because of gun wound and portal jumping. And what does each declare: their need for that other person. Something both Emma and Rumple have a hard time doing.
I know people could point to Emma needing Hook in the end too, to take them to NL. But that for a whole other reason. She, her actual inner self, doesn’t need him. She needs what he can offer by way of transport to get Henry. But Emma, her actual internal self, needs Neal. You don’t stop needing someone. It was 11 years and she never stopped needing him. And he needs her. They’re each others Tallahassee. (I have to go now because typing that made me whimper sadly)Just a little shippy goggle exercise.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"September 21, 2013 at 5:40 pm #211233PriceofMagicParticipantI disagree that everything has been PP’s doing. It’s to early in the series to reveal the grand chess master just yet. Also it is possible that there is no grand chess master and Emma and Neal meeting really was fate.
All magic comes with a price!
Keeper of FelixSeptember 22, 2013 at 7:01 am #211270isabells1990ParticipantFate that no one could predict 😉 I still haven’t figured out how to quote other posts, so I will just quickly add something, came in to my head this morning. Neal&Emma have to stay alone! Maybe go on some adventure together, there is always so many people around them. I’d like to see that! They definitely didn’t have many scenes together last season, or the scenes that would reveal something (apart the one on the beach?). They’re obviously connected by Henry and I actually never realized how mature Neal behaved towards Henry and taking his role as a father. Emma wanted to escape, he didn’t. For the person who lost a a father figure so early and in such a cruel way, that’s a BIG step to do. I actually warmed up myself to Neal more. It’s not I don’t like him, but I never liked the way he spoke to Emma. I just think after he finally reunites with his family, we might see a completely new side of Neal. That’s why I don’t see this whole triangle as necessary plot, but so be it for the drama.

For my perspective Neal was definitely acting from a defensive standpoint. He had no idea how to act because of his guilt. But I think the real Neal, was the guy who told Emma to let go of his hand so that she could raise their son. He sacrifices his life for—just like he sacrificed his love and happiness to ensure her eventual happiness with her family.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"September 22, 2013 at 11:37 am #211293kfchimeraParticipantOh so many thoughts. I love the idea of dreams Mickstemp, and Phee: I loved that idea that perhaps they weren’t “true” love before but become true love in the future, develop into it through the course of these obstacles.
In fact, Jane E. said something like that about Snowing on her interview with Barb. Barnett the audio one. She observed that Snowing worked very hard for their love, and in the show, we have the line that if true love were easy, then everyone would have it.
And I adore that picture Slurpeez thanks for posting it!
That brings me to RG’s posts:
YES! Your shippy goggle observation fits very well. It’s not that Rumple or Emma are strong and made weak by love but they pretend to be stronger than they are and need to be strong enough to admit they need someone else, because once you let someone in there is always that risk of loss.I also agree RG on how Neal and Emma speak to each other and what you said about them in the portal scene.
“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass
September 22, 2013 at 12:05 pm #211301SlurpeezParticipantBrace yourselves fellow SF fans; we can have reasonable confidence that Neal will return to NL! It seems as though Jennifer Morrison hinted in an interview that Emma would have some fun situations with Hook and Neal and be lost in the jungle together with them! That most likely means that Neal makes his way to NL by 3×7! “I’m so excited, and I just can’t hide it!” Okay, I’m good. Also, I’m looking forward to CaptainSwanFire moments, since I believe that Hook and Neal will actually become friends. Plus, Neal needs to help save Henry and his father. This season is going to be everything I always hoped for and more. 🙂
