Yep, not to mention how Emma says, “now let’s go get our son back!” I love that Emma, Neal and Regina put the interests of their son first, ahead of themselves, as any loving parents automatically would do. That is real love in action!

It’s a major theme of the show: parents and children. The overarching story, since season one, was a father looking for his son and a fairy tale prince and princess waiting for their daughter to save them. Parents and children are huge on this show. Henry is not why I ship SF but it is a major factor for Emma.

I love the little things as we talked about earlier.

I love their banter, because he brings out this goofy side to Emma.  Her two corniest jokes “I can spell spell” and the one about Shadow valley’s name are things she does just after a reunion with him, when suddenly thrown into yet another hyper-tense situation.  He gives her that sense of ease to joke that way even in dire circumstances.  She’s much more “all business” without him (or Henry) there.  You can see how that love makes her feel secure, even if it does also bring up insecurities as well.

I love their ability to argue without it escalating into some kind of knock-down drag out fight, even when they’re discussing really serious subjects like how he left, and she ended up in jail.  Despite all that anger and reason to mistrust, it didn’t take long for Emma to remember why she liked him or why she trusted him in the first place.

I love that Emma never stopped loving him and knew it the instant she saw him again.  I love that he will never stop fighting for her, and that’s after hearing her say her painful confession.

I love how he hugged her to reassure her, rather than trying to force romance when she isn’t in the mood.    I loved how he just wanted to talk, and she brought up making it a date.    He needs to pursue enough so she can feel wanted, but not so much he’s not respecting her need to feel ready first.

I love how she kept the bug and the necklace, and was playing the same song Charlie’s girl, that Neal played.

I love how they both like hot chocolate.

I love how they both tend to dress casually, down to earth.  How they both look uncomfortable in fancy stuff (though they’re rocking it).

I love how he got her back even if he didn’t quite believe everything she said.  I love how she didn’t question him about his plan with a coconut either.

I love how she looks at him when he’s reconciling with Rumple, and how she looks when he’s just lost him.

I love how he sticks his face in her neck and hair as he says goodbye, and how lost she looks, knowing the separation ahead, the thing she feared would happen, that other shoe dropping, happening.  I love how confident he was though that it wasn’t over.

I love how their dream was the ordinary things most people can have, a home, jobs, someone to love and love them back, family.

Not only is Henry a major factor for Emma, he is THE criterion for Emma! She flat out told Hook and Neal in 3×7 that if she had to choose, she’d always choose Henry. Neal totally agreed that if Henry is the best thing to come from them being together, then he’d say they did pretty well. By contrast, Hook sulked! Emma Swan would only ever choose a man who put Henry’s welfare first, as surely as Neal has ever since he discovered Henry is his son.

    As Eddy Kitsis has said,

“Hook is obviously eye-candy,” Kitsis allows. “I don’t know if Emma would stare at him and think he’d be a great father to Henry, but he might be fun in Vegas!”

Now why would Eddy raise the issue of fatherhood? Why hasn’t Hook told Emma yet about considering himself a father figure to Nealfire? Could it be because Hook was/is a horrible quasi step-dad to Baelfire? Not only did he seduce Bae’s mother away from her young son, but now he’s making a play for that same boy’s baby mama. I think it’s clear where this is headed. Once Emma learns the truth, she’s not going to look at Hook and think what a great dad he’d make. On the contrary, she’d be wise to run the other direction!

"That’s how you know you’ve really got a home. When you leave it, there’s this feeling that you can’t shake. You just miss it." Neal Cassidy

I was thinking about the CaptainSwanFire triangle and about love triangles in general and in every triangle involving two guys and a girl, there is always the “nice guy” and the “bad boy”. In the case of CSF, Hook is the “bad boy” and Neal is the “nice guy”.

It’s a total trope. I’ve got a friend who is just a casual viewer, and she got caught up on S3 recently and then tweeted about CS and I joked, “I dunno if we can be friends any more.” 😛 She laughed and said she just always sides with the bad boy in a love triangle, (she also loves a love triangle, TVD is her fave show which I haven’t seen, but I understand that show does a love triangle like WHOA).

How quickly they fell in step with one another after their first reunion. The trust they have in each other. How they got each other’s back.

ALL of what Schmacky said, but this is an important point IMO. She claimed in the bar that she kept the swan pendant to remind her to never trust anyone again, (an obvious lie), and then a few days later she was trusting him to take Henry back to NYC with him for safe keeping. There’s no denying that they have many issues, but this was before Emma had had time to properly process all of that, and still, despite their past, she trusted Neal with Henry’s life, and trusting your child’s life in someone’s hands is about the most major thing you can trust someone with. There are some people in life, where no matter how long you go without seeing them, when you do see them again, you just fall back into step with them. That’s SF.

I love how he sticks his face in her neck and hair as he says goodbye, and how lost she looks, knowing the separation ahead, the thing she feared would happen, that other shoe dropping, happening. I love how confident he was though that it wasn’t over.

Seriously, right when her parents had started to get through to her that the good moments can happen, this happens instead, to prove her doomsday mindset. But he told her this wasn’t the end, and we know that he’ll be proven right and they will see each other again. Reminds me a bit of the Snowing conversation where he said they always find each other and she said that they’re always losing each other too, so maybe that’s their fate. There may be a lot of parental stuff that Snowing really did miss out on offering to Emma, but there are still things they know about better than she does, and the power of love to endure anything, despite the bumps in the road, is one of those things they’re experts in.

Emma was trusting him even before that! She trusted him to go on a family outing to pizza and a museum. She trusted him to sail the JR to SB with Rumple, whom she knew she had to save because he was family now. She trusted him against Cora. Less than 48 hours really and she’s Trusty McTrusterson with him.

There’s no denying that they have many issues, but this was before Emma had had time to properly process all of that, and still, despite their past, she trusted Neal with Henry’s life, and trusting your child’s life in someone’s hands is about the most major thing you can trust someone with.

Yes. And Henry isn’t just her child, he’s ultimately her true love. Despite everything she trusts Henry, her true love, her heart, to Neal. No questions asked.

Seriously, right when her parents had started to get through to her that the good moments can happen, this happens instead, to prove her doomsday mindset.

What was that quote from 304 (?): “and before I could even take a breath I lost him all over again…” Sorta reminds me of Charming and Snow’s conversation in the Red Room

David: It’s okay. You’ll get back, and then you’ll wake me as I woke you. You will always find me, and I will always find you.

MMB: Yes. Will we always lose each other, too? Is that our fate?

David: No. I refuse to believe that. You need to have faith… In us.

Reminds me a bit of the Snowing conversation where he said they always find each other and she said that they’re always losing each other too, so maybe that’s their fate

So I totally drew the same conclusion before I read your entire paragraph….

WE ARE LIKE IN SYNCH PHEE.
