Also, I want to say how much empathy I have for whoever wrote this confession. Shame on people like Hook who really bully and mock people who have disabilities in real life. What’s just as wrong is to try to justify the notion that bullying and jeering at someone is somehow acceptable. Hook is self-deluded if he really thinks he’s man of honor. People of real integrity don’t pretend like they never make mistakes, don’t refuse to apologize for wrong doing or hypocritically point out other people’s shortcomings when guilty of the same offense, only worse. I’m not saying people can’t really change, but the first path to redemption is to start by confessing one’s sins. Just look at Rumple and Regina who both self-identify as villain. Yes, they’ve antagonized innocent people, but at least they admit it! By contrast, Hook doesn’t even acknowledge his errors!

Hook is a complete d-bag at times. Hook describing himself as a “man of honour” is completely laughable. What he did to Belle wasn’t honourable, what he did to Baelfire wasn’t honourable, what he did to Rumple wasn’t honourable. Hook likes to pick on those he sees as weaker than him. When Hook thought Rumple was just an ordinary beggar, he was mocking him and pushed him to the ground, Hook didn’t stop until he realised he’d just messed with the Dark One.

Until Hook acknowledges that he has done some terrible things, and apologised and made amends for them, he can’t describe himself as an honourable man.

It’s been a couple months since I’ve watched a Swanfire video, and it’s amazing to me how every time I see one it SHOCKS me how beautiful their story is. Every single time. I’ve never been in a fandom of a tv show before, and I’ve never been touched by a couples’ story as I am Neal and Emma’s. I think something people don’t understand is the beauty in the pain. Part of the reason it hurt Emma so deeply when Neal left is because she thought she knew he’d never leave. And she was right, essentially. I know that relationships can have all pain and no beauty too, but from experience, those usually come with loads of warning signs we sometimes choose to ignore… internally, and from friends and family.
It’s always confusing when someone leaves. But it’s even more confusing when it was natural and healthy from the start.

The amazing thing is we can “feel” all this just by watching someone act. You know? Not only is this just such a brilliant story that I am so grateful to A and E for, but JMo and MRJ have the ability to communicate such emotion, together, through their acting. There’s much more to chemistry than the superficial way it gets labeled now adays. There’s physical chemistry and then there’s the entire package: one that cuts down to the soul and is portrayed organically, instead of contrived from  lines.

Yes!!! Wholly agree. MRJ and JMo bring all these beautiful emotions to the screen.

Yep! I can’t even begin to describe how much a true man of honor Neal has become. He’s made plenty of mistakes (though self-sacrifically), but at least Neal owns up to his mistakes, doesn’t burry them under the sand, and apologizes for them! He’s not self-deluded into thinking Emma owes him anything; he’s simply trying to make things right by being a comforting protector for Henry and by extension, Emma. He’s doing his upmost to be there, but still letting Emma come to him. He’s not making demands of her.

    All of THIS!

Also all of THAT! I enjoy me some Hook, but his actions in that scene with Rumple are quite simply indefensible.

Until Hook acknowledges that he has done some terrible things, and apologised and made amends for them, he can’t describe himself as an honourable man.

Maybe that is the point; it’s ironic that Hook really considers himself still to be a man of honor when he hasn’t seen his own true colors. He’s still a pirate (as confirmed by Tinkerbell in 3×11 when she said, “And you’re still a pirate.”). I think Hook has started on a redemptive path by helping Emma and her family, but I question his motives as selfish. I think that A&E are good at writing characters who make morally ambiguous decisions and who struggle with how they see themselves: Rumple considered himself a coward and a monster, Regina considered herself the wronged queen, and Hook tells himself he is a buccaneer with a code. So far, we’ve seen Rumple confront his fears and sacrifice himself to save his loved ones, and we’ve has Regina sacrifice her idea of a happy ending with Henry to give him a happy life with Emma. These are things that Rumple and Regina did for the sake of people other than themselves, without ever expecting to see their sons ever again. Hook hasn’t even hinted at really being willing to sacrifice his own self-interest for the sake of this guy, Neal, who is supposedly like a son to him. So far, Hook is intentionally trying to thwart the progress of Neal’s happy ending with Emma. Hook vying for the same woman as his would-be step son comes off as just as bizarre and wrong as if Rumple were vying with his own son for Emma. Can you imagine how repugnant it’d be for a woman to have a father and son both expressing romantic notions? Emma doesn’t even know the true connection between Hook and Neal! AWKWARD!

I don’t usually put much stock into drawing parallels with other movies (especially since The Swan Princess isn’t made by Disney). However, this one was just too cute/prominent not to share.

Cute Swan Princess stuff ! Not meaningful as a predictive or sign of intent on the part of the writers, but some creative fans sure do find a way to match things up!

So far as spoilers, a small flicker of light in an ocean of fans spinning everything    ABC MediaNet isn’t on the “ignore SF” bandwagon that Keck is–wedding spoiler, lists Emma and Neal as a speculation alongside the other suspects….yay!  …..http://onceuponatimeabc.net/what-is-in-store-for-season-3/  .

    YAY!

it would be the OOC thing in the world for Emma to marry ANYONE right now. The only thing that might be more OOC is her leaving for parts unknown away from her family on the JR. Cause you know…Emma’s never wanted a family or a stable home
