Yes! I think that is what the writers mean. It will be tough though as Neal is off and Emma and Hook will be getting closer. Guesses around the promos will be intense!

I just put two and two together from reading this spoiler-free article on Hypable:

1) Why did Neal end up in the Enchanted Forest? He tells us.

Neal probably blames himself for not listening to Emma when she tried to warn him about Tamara. He blames himself ever having left Emma in the first place and for letting Henry grow up without a father like he did.

This sounds like something Mulan would say to Neal. Mulan is going to challenge Neal to get over his fear of rejection to be able to fight for Emma. Mulan knows and respects Emma for never giving up on finding a way home back to Henry; now Mulan is going to challenge Neal to do the same thing. *crying*

This sounds like something Mulan would say to Neal. Mulan is going to challenge Neal to get over his fear of rejection to be able to fight for Emma. Mulan knows and respects Emma for never giving up on finding a way home back to Henry; now Mulan is going to challenge Neal to do the same thing. *crying*

 

I also think this could be Mulan yelling at Neal about Tamara. Neal feared being rejected by Emma so much that he let himself be blinded by Tamara. So while Neal always believed that he and Emma were destiny, it could wonky when he was suddenly faced with the prospect of seeing her again.

Also, Neal has felt rejected by both of his parents for over 200 years. His mother walked out on him and his father chose magic over him. Also, Neal feared being rejected by Emma for having left her. He fears that if he had gone to her in SB after she broke the curse that she would have rejected him completely. So he ended up engaged to Tamara. And yet, Emma not only forgave him, but she also declared her love for him. I think Mulan is going to inspire Neal like she inspired Belle in “The Outsider:”

Mulan: By showing them that I had the warrior spirit. Once I found something worth fighting for, I fought for it with everything that I had. I never gave up.

Mulan is going to light a flame under Neal so that he fights like he!! to get back to Emma and Henry. He knows that his and Emma’s love is something worth fighting for, so that he’ll never give up fighting for her (just like Belle never gave up fighting for Rumple). *crying*

Hope for Neal and Emma?! There’s always hope! Especially because Neal is willing to do absolutely anything to get back to the woman he loves. And by anything, we mean embracing the one thing in his life that he has always tried to stay away from. Bonus Scoop: Hearing Neal explain to Mulan how much he cares about Emma will tug on your SwanFire-loving heartstrings.

Some Robin Hood scoop would be great. What’s his story this season? Will he get his own backstory episode? We will see new Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) in the premiere, and guess what?—It’s not via flashback! Robin Hood is one of the lucky few to have stayed behind in the Enchanted Forest post-curse has made himself quite comfortable in a castle that is filled with dark secrets. He’ll be helping Neal in his quest to get back to Emma and according to the OUAT creators, he’ll be getting some major screen time this season.

So this has probably been pointed out before but I don’t think I’ve noticed until now. Tonight I rewatched SSTR and right after Nealfire falls through the portal into the EF, and Emma collapses on the floor, the “true love” motif from season one, right before Emma kisses Henry back to life, starts to play. Just for a few moments, but it’s there.

My mouth dropped. I really don’t know if I’ve ever noticed.
