Emma + Baelfire = Swanfire

All right…we need some hope so I’m going to attempt to provide some right now. For one, I’m starting to lean towards the death being Hook simply because it would be high profile in the media (aka, attention for the show) and while emotional for parts of the fandom, it doesn’t totally affect the show as a whole but could still allow some growth for everyone, if they write it right, and for Hook as a character which a lot of us have been asking for this season. I could see Colin maybe wanting to go back to Ireland with his family because this job wasn’t supposed to be a long term one for him and maybe he feels like it’s been too long. I don’t know…maybe I’m reaching but it could easily be Hook and work pretty well in the storyline of the show. (BTW-Whoever started speculating that the death happens earlier into the second half of the season, you might be onto something with no pics of Hook out there right now. I agree that this death may happen sooner rather than later and that could be why they spoiled it so early. I love the idea of the dates though too. These guys do love their numbers…)

Two, MRJ has played some pretty nasty characters on TV in his career. I think I read somewhere that Neal may be one of the first ‘nice’ characters that he’s played in a while? I could be wrong about that but he’s certainly played some bad dudes. It looks like he’s been on Twitter for a while now so I’m sure he’s heard all sorts of things about the other characters he’s played which might actually be justified not having seen True Blood or his other bad guys (Terriers doesn’t count since he’s more good in that) in addition to the slop I’m sure he’s heard from this fandom. Actors by nature have pretty thick skins and he’s got one of the thickest just coming from some of the things he’s reposted on there and I have a hard time seeing him getting totally annoyed by the fan tweets and asking out of his regular paying gig so he can go do something else. He wasn’t working much when he got this role and actors tend to like steady work so that doesn’t really make sense to me that he would let a fandom drive him away from a show that by all accounts, he really enjoys being part of now. I looked back on some of his tweets and they’re all so positive (in general…not just about the show) and I just can’t see him being crazy upset over his storyline when it hasn’t really gotten started for SwanFire or Neal as a father yet. Colin on the other hand…I can see him being maybe upset that Hook isn’t the villain that he started out as anymore and asking to move on including him going back home to the rest of his family. Just a hunch of mine from being a fan of other shows and seeing things like that happen in the past.

And lastly, and I really hate to write this out, I could easily see it being Emilie too. She didn’t have much of anything to do in the first half of the season and we saw this very thing happen with Meghan last year when she became a regular and then got no story and left for other things. I could see that happening with Emilie too although I wouldn’t like this at all either as I enjoy Belle and think she brings much needed heart to Rumple (along with Nealfire). Seriously, if they lose either of these two character, Rumple is going to suffer greatly as a character because his heart will be partly gone. I don’t want to lose either of them.

OK, I need food therapy now so I’m going to eat dinner. Tumblr is full of win right now with some of the SwanFire folks that we quote a lot so go check that out for some great thoughts about everything. Hopefully that hasn’t changed in the last half hour and shocked of all shockers, there are actually some positive things in the comments of the TV Line article too. I’m stunned by that! 😮

I wish I could be positive. I could see it being Emilie as her screen time was appalling low, but…no one receives as much hate as MRJ. That must wear on a soul. And while he seems happy with his cast members, I think the amount of “neal sucks!!!” he gets would make him seek employment elsewhere. He did two movies over the summer, right? So it’s not like he can’t get work

I said this in the death thread, but if it is Neal then A and E better not do some sort of song and dance about it being planned all along. Cause NO. No way was Baelfire going to die. That wasn’t in their vision. They better be open and honest and straight.

Seriously, between the broken heart and the indigestion, I’m not going to make it to March. (And the Polar Vortex…that is part of my dispare. Why did you have to come back! *shakes fist*) This actually puts a very bitter feeling to any upcoming shows since we all know the death is coming and constantly thinking, “Is this where it happens?” It’s going to drive us all insane.

It could be anyone. I think it’d be easiest if it was Hook. He has the least amount of ties to any characters. While his death would affect them, it wouldn’t destroy them and put them into a deep depression. If Snow or David go the other is going to be beyond depressed and might possibly go crazy. Not to mention that really sucks balls for Emma and Henry. I can’t see Emma or Henry being killed off. Just… no. Regina could be killed off but with everything she’s done and the work she’s made towards her relationship with Henry, it seems a bit premature for her death. Though, that just might be the very reason she would die. Belle.. I could see Emilie wanting to do something better since they don’t use her very often though she seems to love the show. Belle dying would have a huge affect on Rumple (and that’s all her character seems to be good for) and it could honestly go either way.. he could revert back to crazy man or use her death as a constant reminder to be a better man. Though honestly, I think if Belle died, Rumple would fall so far down not even his son could bring him back up. Speaking of son, it could be Neal. Most definitely because they don’t use him much however he has such strong connections to other characters and those stories just haven’t been fulfilled or fulfilling. He’s barely interacted with Henry and the show hasn’t explored much what that means for Henry.. to have a father, something he’s never had for his entire life. How does this change him? Emma is still beyond confused in regards to Neal. After seeing him again she realized she still loves him but she’s still scared as shit to be anywhere near him romantically but doesn’t want to lose him at the same time. They’re in a limbo and until it’s clearly shown either way, I don’t see Neal going. And let’s not forget this father… while they did make up, they still have a long way to go. It would be a waste to have brought in little Baelfire all grown up to barely delve into his adult character and then kill him off. A waste. Then we’ve got Captain Hook. We know a lot about this lad. Young noble dreamer in the Navy with a brother, lost his brother, let his anger turn into hate and blah blah Yoda the force stuff.. became a pirate and fell in love and lost his love and spent years getting revenge only to find a woman who made him want to love again. Turning himself around. The hero becoming a villain becoming a hero again… just in time to die. It’s tiresomely beautiful and something I think A&E would do. This is Hook’s season. The season to be a hero! The season to die. His death would slightly affect Emma and Neal, but outside of them… not much. David and Snow will be sad because they’re good people. Emma connected with Hook and even though she’s not in love with the guy, she knows how he feels about her and if he died, she would feel sad about it. Neal would feel sad that his surrogate father that betrayed him died. Nothing would be wasted if Captain Hook died at the end of the season. We can see his story come full circle.

Exactly! MRJ is used to playing hard-core villains! His character in the first season of True Blood was truly detestable! It’s not like an actor is going to completely quit just because of some whiny, loud and obnoxious CS fans, a lot of whom are fanatic teenage girls on Twitter. Imagine if every time an actor got a bad review, or got a negative reaction from crazed online mob of adolescent girls; there’d be no actors keeping at it, trying to push back, or pressing on with acting! It’s ridiculous what Twitter and teenage girls can do, but actors in this day and age can’t afford not to work just because of some very outspoken, brash, rude, and sometimes deluded fans. It’s ridiculous! I hope that MRJ has the sense not to let them get to him!

The only “story” wise solution if it is Neal is that it’s because of the triangle and that’s just lazy writing.

To any CSers reading our thread can I ask a very honest question:

is this how you wanted your OTP to get their happy ending? ON the death of another? Honest question. I have never once been in favor of Hook dying in order for SF to happen and I can’t believe you guys would want Neal to die–henry’s father!!!–in order for CS to happen
