According to Adam, he searched and we found out why he stopped. I don’t know.
They explored it in the sense that you sorta had to infer that he knew he had to stop.

So August had to know that this was the only shot his people had be free of Regina. But we still don’t know why August suddenly decided to start stalking Emma. Someone told him that Emma was getting to happy and comfy, IMO. I thought it was PP for the longest time but alas. That headcanon went the way of Nealfire Pan.

I had a theory on the “terrible things would happen” being that Emma’s death broke the curse as we found out in S1. It was debated a lot because wasn’t Regina trying to kill baby Emma? Some argued she wasn’t, some said she was. We went all around about it. Now we know definitively that though Regina WAS trying to kill baby Emma before the course, that must have been a loophole if she did it before the curse activated.
So I think it may have had something to do with that, because if Neal were with Emma maybe someone nasty (Pan?) would find her, want to end the curse to kill Rumple or whatever and no happiness. Maybe he was a walking neon blood magic sign that put her in danger, so that is why August insisted he steer clear. Of course how August knew he was Bae has yet to be explored. So unless they’re burying it under the rug where so many other things are (hello Milah)….then it might lead into set–up for this new curse. Maybe WWW wrote the curse originally and wanted it back but to use it again, she needed to break the one deployed first.

My theory is that the bad things if Pan was tracking Neal to track Emma to track the heart of the truest believer through some sort of blood magic is perhaps Emma and Neal would have been Killed and the Darling boys would have taken baby Henry. We all know that Darling boys knew of Henry because they were going to adopt the child in Save Henry.
So here is a question. Was August being guided by the side of good or for the side of bad. I can see Blue wanting Emma to go jail to ensure that Henry would be safely tuck away in SB, the town that doesn’t exist in a land without magic. I can see Pan wanted Emma to go to jail, perhaps told the Darling boys to tip the cops off, so in the long run they can adopt the child but still Mr. Gold beat them to it. Who was providing August with his info, because I have the inclination that August was not working by himself that night. Questions, Questions, Questions.

–Someone told him where to find Emma and said, “your job is to put her back on the path to breaking the Curse” which meant taking away her happiness with Neal
–But that night Neal wouldn’t have just said, “yeah ok. Call the cops on her.” I have this theory that the DBs knocked Neal out when he started to fight August calling the cops

And someone told him that Neal was Baelfire. A little fairy? What color…black, blue, or perhaps the return of that gold fairy that Rumple killed? (Sorry, couldn’t resist adding her). It’s not a stretch to think that Neal knew he was being tracked after the August/box reveal and put things together that Emma was probably being tracked, too.
We need answers no matter who is killed. If Neal is I fear that we’ll find out so many things.
