Speculation is a game of 2+2 + X -Y = ?   We don’t know X and we don’t know Y–but yet some   are going to start declaring it HAS to be this or that.  They may be right.  We all get lucky sometimes.  They may be partially right.  They may have the right event but the wrong context.   Let’s face it, even for scenes we see in full there are people who read what’s said backwards and upside down to avoid recognizing a few simple things about Emma Swan and Neal Cassidy.  Instead of closeness and support, they focus only on the past pain and heartbreak.  They don’t see Emma’s fierce concern for him and her fears of what it means that fate tangled up their lives so much.  She’s the SAVIOR and she has a job to do.  He left her once because of that job, and while she now knows it wasn’t out of lack of love or malicious intent–this “blessing” from Regina has taken it away.

Eddy’s quote referred to it as a “benefit” .  Think about that.  Even as they say the reunion wouldn’t necessarily be a happy one with Emma thinking Neal’s that jerk who sent her to jail, we all sort of know Emma’s memories probably get restored.  So it wouldn’t be redundant to show them reuniting now with all that knowledge and her new perspective, and fresh instead of exhausted emotionally from danger, loss and heartbreak.   She was just about to go to lunch with him and let her guard down.   What Emma has to embrace is that she’s strong enough, as her parents were, to enjoy the moment knowing there might be heartbreak ahead.  If those experiences with Neal since Manhattan weren’t all positive things, doubt Eddy would talk about them as being a “benefit” to her perspective in reference to saying a reunion wouldn’t be happy. We can only imagine that with memories, it should be happier.

I’m not gong to say its impossible that it the death is  Neal.  If its a real -life thing driving it, truly could be any one, and with the way these writers craft their “pods” of stories it feels like anything could happen season to season.  They seemed to downplay certain things so much its like they want to start this next batch with a potion of forgetting for their audience, and off we go and we forget all about the emotional journey we thought we were on.  I hope that’s not true though.  I hope NL was meant to be a disruption on purpose so they could do some things to please fans before returning their characters to their normal selves.  So in that light, Hook and Henry filing together could be that Henry discovers that Hook is up to something.  It could be that Hook as others said realizes he’s not really changed.  It could be that Henry found out what Hook did to Neal! We don’t know enough to even guess.   Maybe that’s not Henry….maybe he’s been Cora’d by the WWW!   Appropriate too don’t you think , considering how Cora and Hook were a nice odd-couple team at one point?  I liked their banter.

Just read this interesting idea on Tumblr about the title for 3×16:

“’It’s not easy being green’ is Hook being jealous of Neal”

get it… ‘It Isn’t Easy Being Green’?

    yeah.. hopeful thinking

Also, this is just a friendly reminder of what Adam and Eddy said in the official 2×6 Tallahassee podcast (we could probably all use a little cheering up).

Eddy: For me there was a sense of, there was no way to contact him and we understand in that moment what she was really thinking about which was the child. I love that because that’s when she first learned about Henry. And, I think what’s also interesting if you look at that key chain, and you go back and look at all the episodes of Emma, you’ll realise as much as she says she’s over that guy, and she doesn’t like him… For some reason she wears that around her neck.

Adam: And, as we learned last season she spent a lot of time in Tallahassee. So after she got out it’s safe to say she went there, and she was probably looking for him.

A thought occurred to me concerning the spoilers for 3×16: The scenes are often filmed out of sequence. Perhaps the photos of Emma, Belle, Tinkerbell, Charming and Snow in SB come first. Henry isn’t with them, suggesting he’s disappeared somewhere (with Hook). What if Emma, her parents, Belle and Tink then take a road trip to Kansas in search of something/someone (possibly Henry or even Neal)? Then comes the scene at what could be the old Gale family farm. J-Mo tweeted a photo of herself, Josh, and Rose, and in the background appeared to be MRJ and Emilie! Neither Ginny, Colin nor Jared were visible in the foreground or the background (though maybe they’re just out of the frame). This would suggest that Neal isn’t in SB because he’s in Kansas! Just a thought!

Another reason that occurred to me why they won’t kill off Neal. The cycle of abandonment is a MAJOR theme for the Stilskins. Malcolm abandoned Rumple, Rumple abandoned Bae, and from the moment Neal discovered he was a father, his mentality has been: “We’re all messed up. What do you say we try to avoid that with him?” And since that moment, he’s been there for Henry in any way he possibly can be. This generation has succeeded at breaking the cycle of father/son abandonment that goes back (at least) two generations. They actually have a shot at sustaining a healthy, committed, father/son relationship. That is a major development for this family! I just cannot imagine them then turning around and killing off one half of this generation’s father/son pair. It would make no sense. It would negate the victory that was this family overcoming the breaking that abandonment cycle. It would make Neal’s efforts to be there for Henry null and void. I just can’t see any reason they would want to do that.

That may be the best reason I’ve seen so far. Why make that such a central theme if you’re just going to go back on it?

Another meta on why to ship SwanFire

I know I have written metas about why I ship Swanfire, but the problem is that apparently I did not tag them accordingly by the time I published them and I can’t actually surf through the 300 pages of my blog without losing focus.

I will keep trying, though, since I feel Swanfire is a battle worth fighting for. Worth defending. Worth speaking up when we get trolled by folks who don’t think twice before hijacking the SF tags.

So, to cut a long story short, a little rant under the cut:

I don’t really understand people that keep asking, ‘but.. seriously now, WHY do you ship Emma and Neal, of all people?!?’

    Like… really?

How about, I ship Neal and Emma because they love each other? Or, I ship Neal and Emma because even after all the hurt they still care?

Why is it so absurd that a group of people actually watched Tallahassee and understood what the writers were trying to do – that is, to tell the story of two young people who loved each other with everything they got, but who got separated by fate? And don’t give me crap about Neal leaving because he was scared of his father. That is BS and I can’t wait for the episode in which that night in Portland will be dealt with, so that people who are still in denial (you know, the ones that conveniently forgot that all Neal had was a stolen car and 20K and that he left it ALL to Emma so that she could get back on her feet, that he got mad at August when he found out she had gone to jail because it should have been him) will finally shut up.

But now that we’re at it, am I and my fellow Swanfire shippers really to be blamed for supporting two individuals that have been reported (onscreen and off-screen – by the writers themselves!)  to still love each other even after a decade of hurt? Really? Do we really have to waste our time justifying ourselves, when the show itself has been clear enough in showing that Neal and Emma have a deep, lasting connection, and that “she’s not ready”, but even so, “he’ll fight for her”?

Bottom lline is: Swanfire is an epic love story. They’re far from over. If it’s not your cup of tea, don’t drink from it and it won’t leave a bitter taste in your mouth

I saw that too! God bless Katie and her positivity!! 😉

I remember seeing something on Tumblr a while back about our ship not being for the faint of heart either and I think after this week we can all agree on that one, LOL 😆
