KeymasterI agree with KFC while agreeing with Phee. *ugh*
story could demand that Neal be killed in order to make CS happen if A and E have decided to go that route. Story could also demand that Hook sacrifice himself in order to complete his hero’s tale.
I *really* want the 3×19 title.
Mostly I am torn and think it would be better if they just told us already.

ParticipantRG-Adam did also tweet last night that we would get the 3×19 title spoiler soon so I wouldn’t be surprised to get that within the next week or so. I’m intrigued by that one too since he and Eddy are writing it. Adam was down right chatty last night which wasn’t good at all for me at all as I was trying to get some sleep but he kept answering me and other people I know! Interesting stuff for sure and I also love hearing that he talks about Neal all the time in the writer’s room. That gives me hope that they have something bigger in mind for him than just killing him off again. The one tweet Slurp posted with the love interest question was very intriguing in my mind. Perhaps the media really is spinning things their own way and that’s not how A&E have actually written things? Something to think about I guess but I’m not feeling quite as hopeless as I was 10 hours ago. Neal is one of their original characters and they do tend to treat Emma, Neal, and Henry a little different than the other characters. Remember how well written Manhattan was and look who the primary people were in that episode. Hmm…
I agree that ‘storyline dictated’ can mean several things but in my opinion, NONE of those things include any good storyline reason for killing off Neal. Like you guys have all ready said its not even the Triangle of Doom that I’m thinking about with this…it’s Henry losing a father AGAIN, Rumple losing his son AGAIN, Emma losing one of the most important people in her life AGAIN. We’ve all ready done this story and I can’t wrap my mind around any new storyline that involves killing off a character who affects so many main cast members that way (especially since we’ve all ready been there, done that with this). There’s still way too much that we don’t know about him and we definitely aren’t getting a centric with him before 3×18 as far as we can tell so killing him off early makes no sense story wise (and I’m off the mindset that this death happens in 3×16 or 17 but that’s just my hunch based on the timing of this spoiler). In all honesty, even when I look at the Triangle of Doom, it doesn’t make sense to kill Neal off. Look at his history with Emma and look at Hook’s history with Emma….one of these things is NOT like the other here. Killing off Neal, the guy with way more history and emotional connections to Emma, is NOT going to resolve that triangle in any reasonable way. CANON: Emma still loves Neal, she’s said so more than a few times just in S3A so far, they have NEVER gotten to talk about anything between them because of all the drama, and she has NEVER said ILY to anyone other than Henry and Neal (contrary to what other fans want to believe). If the death happens in episode 16 or 17 like a lot of us think, HOW ON EARTH is that going to resolve the Triangle of Doom? It actually makes it worse. That’s only FOUR episodes to somehow have Neal and Emma talk and for Emma to resolve whatever she’s feeling inside for both guys, all the while dealing with her memories being gone, the WW stuff with SB being back and everyone being cursed again, and dealing with Henry and his missing memories. That’s an awful lot of stuff to resolve realistically in four episodes, Triangle or not, so killing off Neal doesn’t resolve anything. It actually makes it MORE likely that Emma retreats back into her walled up shell and doesn’t want to let ANYONE in ever again because her fear of losing everyone important to her will take over and those walls will go back up stronger than ever which is a huge step back for her as a character. Plus she would always be stuck with the “What If” scenario and I don’t know about you guys but whenever Emma makes a decision about letting someone into her and Henry’s life, I want her to be sure about it and believe that it’s the right thing for both of them. Leaving a “What If” type of scenario on her mind, especially if it’s Neal who again she has way more history with, doesn’t leave any other guy left in her life with a good opportunity to get through with her in that mindset. I can’t see them wanting to resolve the Triangle by leaving Emma with a huge dose of emotional trauma. They keep claiming that this show is about hope….well, true hope is NOT letting the one character who has had so much stuff dumped on him over the years get killed off without any chance of him finding happiness and peace for what has to be a very tortured soul.
OK, tangent-y rant here but is anyone else totally done with winter?! We’re supposed to get snow, sleet, ice, and freezing rain starting at rush hour today going through 10 AM tomorrow, and yes, they seriously aren’t sure which type of precipitation we’re going to get yet (temps are all over the place) so they just predicted all of it and said conditions will be “treacherous” tonight/tomorrow. I am SO OVER THIS WEATHER. 😥

KeymasterI think whenever I’m feeling sad or down about the spoiler that shall not be named, I’m going to read Heather’s post.
Well said!
(and yes, winter sucks)

ParticipantI’m going to post this mini-essay here so that every time we start to let our fears get the better of us, we can refer back to it (edited for profanity):
Look we literally didn’t have pictures on set of MRJ between the cape pics in 312 and the pics with Jen and the heater in 315. He filmed ENTIRELY IN STUDIO until 310 the first half of the season. He doesn’t tweet that often, and he tweets work related things even less.
Vancity=paparazzi. Vancity has a ton of followers who ask about Hook, so he gives them Hook, and subsequently stirs up crap so we’re ALL following him. Remember the pics of Hook and Emma walking where everyone freaked about them ~holding hands? That scene was half the cast— Neal included— running to Blue when the shadow attacked.
Cast members come to set at different times— they’ll take a shuttle from base camp to set, and they won’t always ride together for various reasons— someone’s still in hair and make up, the director hasn’t called for them yet, they just didn’t get in the darn car before it left, etc. Sometimes, even when filming’s already started, an actor won’t be there for the entire scene, if his or her part comes later, because it takes forever to film a scene. (With that huge www confrontation scene— iirc, lana was on set that night, but not until after they’d started filming.)
And I think most importantly— they’re filming episode 317 and we’ve only seen through 311. We don’t even know what the general idea of the plot is. We don’t know why certain characters are filming together. We don’t know the context of the scenes we have bts for, let alone the ones we haven’t seen filmed at all. Remember when we got the New York pictures? We theorized and theorized, but we had no CLUE why they were there.
I get that we’re getting such a slow trickle of news after a huge spoiler and everyone just wants information, but the thing is that we don’t really have any. I get how easy it is to draw conclusions because it really looks a certain way, but we don’t know much. Maybe it’ll be something we hate that makes no sense. And maybe it’s really, really not what we think. Filming is a bizarre process, and we’re really not going to know anything until we SEE it.

Here is the original tweet:
@oncer256 you'll learn more about at least one of those things. Maybe more.

I saw that this morning when I was catching up on everything I missed when I finally fell asleep but didn’t know how to post it here. HOPE!!!!!!!!!! 😀
RG-Glad you liked my long ramble. I’m so tired of being told what’s going to happen when we seriously know NOTHING right now except that we’ve all seen a lot of WTH pictures floating around that could literally mean anything at this point. Time to relax and not focus on the spoiler that shall not be named for a while…bring on the Olympics!! 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

ParticipantI apologize to my fellow SF fans for my attitude yesterday. Seeing Hook seemingly try to fill the shoes of Neal just got to me, because Neal is someone I’ve been rooting for for a long time now. He’s the underdog, the comeback kid, the guy with good intentions who deserves a second chance. From now on, I’m going to have tunnel vision when it comes to rumors and out-of-context speculation. I think I’m happiest with this show when I take Adam at his word that he has plans to show more of Neal’s story. I can’t believe he’d consign Neal to a worst fate than other less-deserving characters. Maybe that’s taking things on trust, but then again, this show is about taking a leap of faith. And of all the characters, we’ve seen Emma, Neal and Henry doing just that in S3. Being a SF fan means believing in even the possibility of happy ending even when it seems like all other lights have gone out. It’s not easy, but then again, the course of true love never did run smooth.

KeymasterYeah, I apologize too. It’s not easy being an SF shipper or a FireThief right now with everyone insisting that Neal died in 3×16.
More happy pretty! Less woe!

ParticipantI’m not really a shipper at all, but I just came up with an idea based on some of the recent spoilers that might encourage you all here. Somehow something happens to Neal where he is separated from his soul. Everyone believes he is dead, but Hook thinks he can save him based on pirate lore, which is why he is talking to Ariel. He needs a mermaid tear & Davy Jones to ferry him like POTC. The key is though when he saves him, he had to switch places with him. So Hook ends up dying to save Neal after releasing his soul.
