KeymasterI really wanted to see Hook and Neal work together to try and get back to Emma. Say, “we let her decide but first we need to help her get her memories back.” Set aside their differences and maybe try to WORK through their issues! Y’know…beyond the Emma problem

So much for the “bro-code” *sigh*

ParticipantSeriously disappointing that there won’t be an interaction between Neal and Hook yet. *sigh* C’mon people, that relationship is a freaking goldmine if you just stop ignoring it.
I ship Nealfire in his FTL clothing.
If I weren’t such a well behaved young lady, I’d comment that I ship Nealfire’s clothing with my floor. *bats eyelashes innocently*
Oh how much I love Phee right now for her awesome and totally appropriate clothing comment. 😉
We seriously aren’t getting any interactions between Neal & Hook in this episode?! What a total waste of what could be an awesome story. Why are they totally ignoring the history between these two guys?! There’s so much there that they could show but instead it’s all about the Triangle of Doom. As much as they say they’re not fan pandering, they totally are with this crap and it’s gotten on my last nerve. There is SO MUCH MORE to this show than Emma’s love life and these two guys are both being done a disservice by them ignoring their shared history. I feel like we’re missing something big in the story and I’m going to be hostile if they don’t deal with this at some point. Grrrrr.

Keymasterthe longer CaptainFire go without any sort of non-Emma interaction, the more I become convinced that A and E really did take the parts of 322 that dealt with that and threw it out the window and hoped no one would notice. This is sad. There was so much potential–MRJ and Colin both thought so. And even up to 305, Colin talked about how Nealfire was like a son to Hook. So even the actors are confused.

ParticipantThis J.Mo article seemed to me to be better than previous ones. She mentions Neal and that she had a connection to him. Still she doesn’t talk about all the present day development. This type of omission is frustrating. Does she leave it out because in 312 there’s no development, as Neal doesn’t encounter Emma and Emma largely doesn’t have her memories? I hope that’s all it is, but getting a touch tired of hearing how Hook’s changed as if Emma’s totally oblivious to the fact that Neal as well isn’t the same old guy she thought. There’s more than a connection in the past, and a bond as a parent of Henry–there’s everything that happened between them as two people who still have love in their hearts for each other from the moment they met each other again. Of course this time around there’s a monkey in the works, because even if Emma turns Walsh down on his proposal, she still feels like she spent 8 months with him. They have to deal with that, and my guess is they’d deal with that the way they handled Tamara/Katherine, as Walsh starts to me to sound like a mix of the two.
It is possible THIS is the “hijacked” spell that is mentioned in one spoiler, and Emma doesn’t actually choose to date Walsh for 8 months, but just thinks she did due to tampering with the memory curse. Walsh, unlike Katherine though, has his memories, and knows what’s up, which makes him like Tamara, an agent of evil carrying out a mission. So then I think he’s going to actually fall for Emma, because, well, that’s what men do in this story. So let’s say he turns on Wicked and helps save them temporarily from her in some way, which is why she has to pull out the Dark One card. Maybe that funeral people saw is Walsh’s, but before he dies, he tells Emma where to find Neal because he’s been stuck in Oz or something like that. Maybe Neal had to be traded in someway to allow someone else to cross one world to another.
I don’t know for sure, but for now its easier to assume Hook’s on the up and up until the writing clearly shows he is not. In parts of the forum outside this one, that just causes less friction and feels more neutral attitude. I do feel it is fair to wonder, as it is fair to wonder about Neal, whether desperation might drive either of them to do something rash but we just have to wait and see. As I said, writers could do just about anything in the plot with the tricks they’ve contrived here, memory wipes, year that’s missing and all that.

Well, there was the toast Hook made to Neal’s memory in 3×1 and the fact that Hook kept Bae’s cutlass and gave it to Emma to remember Neal by. However, I have to wonder now how sincerely Hook really cares about Neal and how much of it was an act to get into Emma’s good graces. By playing the grieving friend, it seems like he was playing on Emma’s natural sympathy for Bae. Hook’s statement that he and Bae “spent enough time together for me to know I miss him too,” seems less sincere to me now knowing how Hook treated Neal in 3×7. He told Emma he helped her free Neal because he’s a “good friend” yet good friends don’t continue to vie for the same woman their friend loves, especially knowing that woman still loves said friend. Oy vey! However, I do think that Emma has yet to realize the full connection between Hook and Neal. There’s a reason Hook didn’t disclose he loved Milha, Neal’s mom, to Emma in 3×4 when she asked how Hook knew where Bae got his artistic talent. I think that is going to come to ahead by the end of S3.

KeymasterI won’t lie. I really wonder how Colin and MRJ feel about it. They were *so* excited at SDCC this year, giving interviews together about how they finally get to work together and explore Hook and Nealfire’s past and how they relate to each other now
@KFC JMo’s answers seem almost formulaic at this point. Mention Neal, but keep it in the past. Mention Hook, but keep to how surprising she finds him. I’m glad she mentioned Neal this time around but it’s like she did through trial and error–in the past she never mentioned Neal and had to hear the bad response from people.

ParticipantJMO responses seem very calculated at this point. The last interview she refer to Neal as a puzzle piece to try explain to SQ and CS fans why she rescued Neal first. Yeah because Emma on screen was thinking about a Neal being her puzzle piece. LOL I still think if they had no deep real intent with Emma and Neal what was the point of those great declarations over the bean portal we are suppose to deal and what about “how two people come together after so much hurt.” (that’s the story I’m sticking with till prove otherwise.
And another thing, to know why is it so important to clarify or explain away the importance of New York between Emma and Neal. Yeah no connection, just like there was no reason for Emma to stay in Tallahassee either. Or the yellow bug or the swan keychain. Just like Emma listening to Charley’s girl. Like I said I’m not losing hope based on anything till I see 3.12 first. I would laugh my butt off though if we find out that Emma move really close to Neal’s apartment though.
Sorry my thoughts are a little scattered. 😀

ParticipantThis is still one of the cutest scenes between Henry and Emma from S2:
