I wanted to write up my “Why I Started Shipping SwanFire” post last night but got distracted by all the shiny new episodes of my other fave shows (Nashville = winning), but hopefully I can write that up tonight before two more of my fave shows come back on (Grey’s & Scandal = winning). I feel like writing that out would be therapeutic for me at this point, LOL

YES YES YESSSS I was just coming in to post this… so brilliant!
And ultimately why I still have #hope. A and E are storytellers first and foremost. They’ve been telling the story of Emma Swan getting her life back since S1. And dealing with Neal and their issues is a HUGE (huge huge huge huge) part of that, so even if Neal dies someday, it can’t be in 316. I mean…come on. How do you go and kill a character before they manage to resolve ANYTHING between him and Emma, him and Henry, him and Rumple even!

I can’t get over how many people think the ‘big death’ happens in 3×16 just because they filmed in a graveyard at night one time. They filmed at night for like a week and a half or something back then so who knows what all was going on with the story. Forget the fact that they’ve actually filmed in that area several times in the past and those scenes weren’t funerals (or even deaths) at all. I remember all of us thinking Granny was a goner back in S2 from set photos and it makes me laugh now how people take things like random pictures (most of which weren’t even taken while filming IIRC) and turn them into something that they might want to see instead of thinking about any other scenarios. And for the record, I think that there’s NO WAY Neal is dying at all this season if we’re all ready up to episode 3×19 and we still seem to be without any noticeable SwanFire interactions. Emma as a character will come to a screeching halt in the character development department without resolutions to all of the things in her past. We know she still hasn’t totally dealt with her parents abandonment so how on earth is she supposed to deal with her and Neal’s history if he’s not even in the same realm as her right now?! My bet again is that he’s in Oz trying to help his father…seems more and more likely as things start adding up. There’s also no way that can be done in a short amount of episodes either so if he somehow gets back to them in SB before the end of the season (say, episode 3×20 ish), there’s only three episodes left to deal with all that history and given that the WW is probably going to be causing even more drama/destruction than ever by that point, I’m thinking the SawnFire resolution will not be happening much, if at all, this season but their reunion could at least get the ball rolling and set up future stuff for them. I don’t know. I may just be rambling at this point but the more things start adding up from actual FACTS that we know from that first episode, the more convinced I am that Neal isn’t going anywhere. RG is right, these guys are great storytellers, and they’ve used a lot of words to describe SwanFire that aren’t things to be taken lightly nor are they things that are easily resolved in a few episodes. I think the slow burn is exactly what their plan is and although it sucks that we haven’t gotten much in the MRJ photo department, I think the story overall may make that worthwhile in the end. Random head canon from a bored person at work: Neal has been in Oz for most of season 3B trying to rescue his father but he discovers that he needs help from everyone else (especially Belle) in order to truly save his father from Zelena. In episode 3×19 or 3×20, he figures out a way to SB via some type of portal (maybe he finds the shoes?) and starts trying to find Emma and the others in town. Before Neal can get to them though, Zelena discovers that he’s escaped and sends Walsh, her head monkey, after him to stop him from telling them everything he knows about her and Oz. Walsh bites Neal and starts the process to turn him into a monkey too and once Neal realizes what’s happening, and he sees Walsh’s face after he turns back into human form, he runs away to hide in the forest because he knows eventually he won’t be able to tell them anything now. He decides that if he can’t tell them anything, he’ll help them the only way he can by protecting them from the other monkeys and from Zelena’s plan (which I can’t figure out at this point, LOL). In the midst of a random attack on a crowd of people, one bad monkey goes for Emma but is taken out by Neal who swoops in to save her. She thinks she’s been captured but instead he drops her off on the beach away from the insanity, kind of pats her to make sure she’s okay, and then flies off the opposite direction of the other monkeys making Emma wonder why this one is different from the others. Emma being Emma decides to go find out more about him and once she finds him hiding in the forest, through a series of yes/no questions she figures out that Neal is the monkey who saved her and also sees that he’s desperately trying to hold onto his humanity by helping them out the only way he can at that time. Emma swears they’ll save him but in another random attack the next day, Neal is trying to protect them all again and the other monkeys turn on him (per Zelena’s orders who’s figured out who he is and now wants him destroyed) and he falls to the ground badly injured. Emma runs to him and asks someone to call an ambulance (prompting what could be my favorite line from anyone ever, “I have to call 911 for a monkey?!”). She’s holding onto him and telling him that help is on the way but Neal is shaking because he knows he’s badly hurt and probably dying. Emma tells him to hold on for her and when he starts fading away, she admits that she loves him and while crying kisses his face….prompting Neal’s monkey curse to end in a blaze of yellow light (hello Oz reference) because we all know TLK will break ANY curse. He realizes that she actually was able to save him and they share EPIC HUG #3 while everyone watches amazed (including Hook at this point if he’s still alive and maybe it’s here he realizes that he has to do right by Nealfire now and make sure he gets to be with his family). Neal fills them in on what he knows (including that Walsh isn’t who they all thought after seeing a photo of him on Emma’s phone) and they all form a plan to defeat the WW and rescue his father which leads us into the final two episodes of the season. Hopefully you guys are able to appreciate how weird and dorky that felt to write (I can’t believe I used the word monkey so much in this theory, LOL) but DANGIT, it could actually work somehow, LOL 
I will now be calling a therapist and set up a session with them because clearly I have totally lost it. #HopeforSwanFire All I can do is think about how sweet that sounds <3 can you even believe there is a show out there that has these types of possibilities? LOL Oh man... it's very humorous that we are getting genuine feels over monkey kisses. Oh A & E! But aww, what a way to find out TLK![/spoiler]

This. This right here, ladies and gentlemen. This is what makes Swanfire different than other relationships on OUAT. And it’s a real, honest, and gritty thing that people in everyday life deal with all the time in relationships. In a relationship, you’re bound to hurt the person you’re with.. intentionally or not, and you’re bound to be hurt by them. We’re all human and we all make mistakes. And you have two choices.. you either cut the cord and move on or you work through those issues. And the choice is different for everyone.Leaving a relationship isn’t a bad thing when things get rough.. if you don’t love the person anymore, if you aren’t on the same wavelength anymore, if it’s just not working, what else can be done?
But on the other side of the coin is working through the issues. The love is still there, the desire is still there, but there are giant obstacles and barriers in the way and you might feel like there will never find a way to get through it. You could give up at that point, or you could work it through. And that’s what Swanfire is about. Adam or Eddy posed that question… how do two people who love each other come together after so much hurt? That is their story. And it’s a story unique in Once.
Snowing isn’t like that. They have obstacles and barriers but they’re always external or superficial. It’s not about themselves. If there’s any barriers between them, it’s because of something else. They aren’t their own obstacle.
Rumbelle isn’t like that.
Swanfire is, though. It’s art imitating life. That’s what fiction is. Especially fantasy. Exploring ideas in a fantastical way that people can relate to on a personal level. Well, I think many people can relate to this issue of Swanfire.
Actually, a lot of people can relate to it. And that could very well be the reason some people dislike Swanfire so much. Because it does hit close to home for so many people. If people like Swanfire, they aren’t immature little children who have never been in love before. If people don’t like Swanfire, they aren’t immature little children who have never been in love before. Nobody is right. Nobody is wrong.
But, Swanfire is a story being told here. One that can’t be ignored. Or rather, shouldn’t.
