ParticipantOk I just asked around and in next weeks promo we see Emma holding a coconut and looking up at the stars and saying Home in that really soft lovely voice. Imma just point out that Nealfire was holding a coconut in the final two pics from GG over the summer. And that Emma’s poster was all about finding her way home. And that the word for Phoenix in Greek also means palm tree. From which coconuts spring
And go.
I love it! Henry was born in Phoenix, Arizona. Emma and Neal’s love will rise from the ashes that was Tamara (which means palm tree). I’m floored. You said everything else I could possibly say.

ParticipantHahaha. You guys are fantastic.
I just went frame by frame through the promo and it’s definitely a coconut and you can detect something in the stars. The map home. See, all of our joking about the coconut being the key to everything might be correct after all!

I’m dying of laughter. We made so many jokes about that coconut. We are BRILLIANT.

ParticipantI’m back home on the west coast so a bit delayed. I can’t find the tweet now, but during the last #AskGinny, someone asked her what mythical creature she would most like to see on the show and her answer was the pheonix. Coincidence?

KeymasterSo I wanna bring this up because I know it’s going to be brought up other places. In the favorite/least favorite thread I made note of this and how outside the character it was but what are your takes on Neal using the 4 yr old as bait. One of the running themes is Desperate Souls do Desperate Things and this was very Rumple of him. Should have found another way? Was this unacceptable?

ParticipantWell, he’d been through that same scenario before so he knew what to expect, so in that respect I can see why he thought it was a foolproof plan. But it wasn’t his child to use as bait. So part of the blame if something went wrong rests on the shoulders of Robin Hood because he agreed to the plan.
I can see Neal-haters using this as fuel against him. I know that and there is really nothing I can do to change their opinion on the matter. If you hate Neal, you’re going to twist everything he does to fit your viewpoint.
But he’s also a father worried about his son. He’s going to go to extreme lengths to get to him. Much like his papa. So while I don’t exactly agree with his methods, I do understand them.

ParticipantI agree that desperate people do desperate things but Neal did seem to be concerned about Roland’s safety. I liked that Mulan was right there and Robin Hood was also right there too so it was a pretty well thought out plan IMO. I think Mulan ended up being the key towards keeping Roland safe and we have to remember that Neal knows that Shadow better than anyone else in the castle so he did have some insider information about how things would work. I don’t know that I agree with Neal using a child that way but I don’t think his intentions were to get Roland hurt. He just wanted to get back to his son and the love of his life. That can make you do things you wouldn’t normally do and thankfully, it all worked out. I don’t know if this comment made any sense but that’s all I’ve got, LOL 😆
Still so stoked that Neal made it to Neverland so soon! 😀

KeymasterI think the Rumple in him is coming out. I think in some way it’s going to help Neal understand his papa. I just…it’s so 100% outside of his character. You have YoungBae who risked his life for little Darling boy and this seems to be a turn around. One of the hardest things I hear is that Nealfire is not Bae anymore.
I do agree that it was a thought out plan and Neal’s intentions were never to hurt Roland but after I stopped cheering over the shadow taking him to NL I had to sit and think, “was this the right thing to do.” I can’t wipe away Rumple’s sins over what he did to find Bae and I shouldn’t do it to Neal.
So I had more thoughts
I don’t think Jane set this up for us to hate Nealfire or anything. These writers aren’t really capable of writing their mains as people we should hate (exhibit A: All the EvilRegals, Dearies, and Hookers). And Hook is certainly guilty of also toying with Bae to get information out of him about Rumple and then sending him off to the be with the Lost Boys. I just…man did this make me uncomfortable. (Of course it was negated within seconds because of the epic “jumping out of window just like Emma jumped off the JR)

ParticipantHearing previews I was worried about Neal using a boy but ultimately I was ok with that, because of the following:
- Mulan was there to approve it and as a neutral 3rd party full of honor, she wasn’t swayed by desperation or guilt over a debt unpaid
- Robin (and Roland) are brave
- Roland is only 4 and the shadow has to take you willingly. With Papa right there saying no, pretty sure Roland was as far from willing as you can get.
- Neal knew the shadow could be attacked and had limited intelligence (good thing too or it would have slammed into walls to dump him off!).
So basically Neal was not being evil and exploiting a little kid, but Robin and Roland were being brave to help him despite the carefully controlled risks.
Now, that aside I did find something funnier than Neal hanging onto that shadow flying through the air:
Let’s just hope that isn’t how Neal and Emma are forced to use the Bug if everyone returns to the Enchanted Forrest
.Now that I’m done being silly and giddy, I have to say I was just grinning during this episode. Even with the “boyfriend” moment about Hook, the way I saw it, Emma’s reaction wasn’t even defensive, it was more “Say What? What got into you?”. I thought for a brief moment they weren’t going to go all in on ReHo, that it was a hint towards HookedQueen, because Regina seemed jealous. I think she was, but not that she necessarily wanted Hook or Emma herself, but in that way that Regina does like to be the center of attention and sort of had residual issues over being trapped in a loveless marriage where she was ignored. But more in a Regina thread!Emma and Hook are growing closer, but so are Emma and Regina so I really didn’t get a romantic vibe at all with either of them. I do have to hand it to Screwball Ninja and the others who saw the SleepingWarrior moment coming, but I am not worried that it might mean that the reason for no MuFire was more on Mulan’s side than Neal’s. Neal showed no interest towards Mulan, and the whole episode he was frantic to get back to Emma as well as Henry.
I also loved that he acknowledged he needed a second chance, and loved his line that if you love someone, you should not wait to say it. He knows he has to make up ground with Emma, and he is going to work hard to do it–but he is going to be separated from her awhile longer. I’m ok with that, because I am going to hope there are some SF flashbacks ahead (or even a present day reunion maybe?).
I’m more worried about Pan really than Hook at this point.
