I agree with EVERYTHING she says. basic TV storytelling 101: if it’s going really well for a character, disaster can’t be far behind

Please don’t assume the writer sat down – one on one-  with A & E. The second paragraph states that A & E [quote] answered a few questions from the media[/quote]. The writer along with other members of the media saw a screening of 3×12 back in Feb., 2014.  A & E were present and answered questions as per usual…..with crumbs, ……..shrewdly, and calculating. This recent article is indeed hype! I maintain that Neal and Emma are TRUE LOVERS, are destined for one another and will be re-united by the end of season 3. I also maintain Hook is a mercenary who is working for Zelena,  for his own opportunistic and narcissistic  reasons…which is “winning” Emma’s affections….as if Emma’s heart is something to be toyed with for his own vanity and amusement. Having said this, I also maintain that Hook will redeem himself……through Nealfire. The brief father / son bond they formed in season 2 has reactivated Hook’s sense of honour and valour….and when push comes to shove, Hook will come through and save Nealfire from Zelena.

Tempting Fate is when a character says something that dares the universe into making things miserable for them, and the universe takes them up on the challenge. Oftentimes, the character is commenting on how they’ve hit Rock Bottom and how things couldn’t possibly get any worse — right before things do turn From Bad to Worse. Conversely, they may talk about how things are absolutely perfect, only for their world to come crashing down five seconds later.
Either things couldn’t get any worse (until they do), or everything seems to go your way until they don’t. I think Hook is sort of on easy street right now, but that things could soon start going south. He’s said things so assuredly before to Emma like “when I win your heart” or to Neal “when you fail” at winning Emma that Hook almost assuredly won’t get the girl and Neal won’t fail. Also, Hook and Peter Pan have both said how much Hook excels at surviving that it’s almost like tempting fate that at some point, Hook’s luck will run out. Hook is so used to getting any girl he likes that it’ll come as a rude shock when he fails to do so. And it will come as an even greater shock when he realizes that things aren’t going like he wanted. Â

A and E are creative to be sure, but they ARE using very basic storytelling concepts.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"and the whole “it suddenly goes wrong for people for whom it is currently going right” applies to both villains and heroes. Cora was literally seconds from killing Rumple before it caught up to her. Pan was moments from having an immortal land before his plans were thwarted. But also, Graham was finally free of Regina and had his memories back before it ended for him. Things go BAD very quickly when everything is going good for you!

X I have so many feelings about this GIF set Gah, I do too RG. Emma’s been right there for two of the biggest and most emotional moments he’s had with his father and no one understands that loneliness and desire for family more than her. People can say all they want about how all the characters on this show want to find their home (aka, the theme for S3B) but NO ONE ELSE on this show has suffered more in trying to find their families and their homes than Emma & Neal. NO ONE. Don’t get me started on that argument, LOL 😉
