ParticipantMore ideas/snippets from that TV Line article have got me thinking:
And while the bail bondswoman will always guard her own heart — a lasting after-effect of her upbringing as an orphan, Morrison notes — “She’s definitely interested in the idea of Henry having a father.”
As such, one can’t blame Emma for casting a very wary eye on the guylinered, leather-clad gent who in the winter finale stormed into her life trying to convince her that she’s living an idyllic lie — and tried to smooch her, to boot. “It’s just weird enough that he shows up at my door dressed as Captain Hook. That alone would be enough to raise some concern,” Morrison notes with a laugh.
Just remember what Eddy Kitsis said about Hook when he was introduced over a year ago. Emma wouldn’t really consider him a good father figure for Henry. For her, it all comes back to her kid and who would best fit into both her and Henry’s life together.
Kitsis once again tackles the subject of Emma’s suitors saying, “I think what’s interesting is the love of Emma’s life last year was Henry and this year we actually met the one person that she has fallen in love with [Neal]. Hook is obviously eye candy. I don’t know if she would stare at him and think he would be a great father to Henry but he might be fun in Vegas.” However, it is looking like a strong possibility that Neal/Emma fans will see a reunion by the end of the season. When I asked the creators if Henry would be meeting his birthfather this season, Horowitz bluntly revealed, “I would be really disappointed if we went this season and we didn’t show that. That would suck. [x]”
Once Emma gets her memories back, she’s going to remember the full story about why Neal left, but also what a great father he really is to Henry and how apologetic and full of regret he was for ever letting go of Emma. I think that this is going to stick in her mind as she recalls how much Henry loves his dad and Neal loves Henry. While she’s been giving Hook the benefit of the doubt in S3a because he helped her get to Henry, I think that she’s going to realize what a crummy father figure Hook has been to Neal when she realizes Hook loved Milha but let Bae go off with the murderous Peter Pan. That would give Emma serious concern I think as a mother. Hook just said in that promo from 3×12 how he wasn’t there because of Neal. That just show how little Hook really is concerned with the fate of his so-called “good friend” and son figure because he sees Neal as a rival for the same woman. Hook’s dismissive attitude about Neal really doesn’t sit well with me, and it shouldn’t sit well with Emma either. While I think Henry is going to be quick to bond with Hook this season, I think it’s because 1) Henry is cursed not to remember Neal and 2) Henry grew up without a father figure and therefore is very susceptible to Hook’s attempts to be paternal to win Emma. Emma, however, hopefully develops a clearer picture of Hook as time goes forward.
The other bit from the TV Line article that stood out to me is what Colin O’Donoghue had to say when questioned about why Hook, rather than Neal, ended up on Emma’s doorstep.
(So, why didn’t NYC-savvy Neal, the other fella from Emma’s past, make this trek instead? “The answer to that is a little complicated…,” Colin O’Donoghue teases, “so the task fell upon Hook.”)
This makes me think that something happens to Neal like he gets captured….But something about the way Hook says that “the task fell upon Hook” makes me think that Hook may have had a hand in preventing Neal from going….

KeymasterSchmacky wrote a thing for why Neal and Belle having a little adventure is a good thing
Yay for Schmacky!
@Slurpeez: I agree. The complicated bit of that TVLine article made me pause and go “huh?” Mean there is something really big there that they are going to tell very slowly

KeymasterOoooookaaaaaaaay.
went and read the comments at the TVLine article. Man. We really are a mix bag aren’t we? One third are screaming about the TL stuff. A third are saying thanks for the unbiased article and fighting those claiming bias and the whole Neal is gonna die stuff. And the last third are complaining that the show is ruined because of shipping/TL triangle disasters
*sigh* Hopefully it all ends this season.
But seriously STOP SAYING YOU ARE GOING TO ENJOY PEOPLE’S PAIN WHEN THEY LOOSE A BELOVED CHARACTER! OMG. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!

Keymaster@JJSawyerPhillip I feel confident in positing that, at least from where Neal stands, Emma is his true love.

Keymaster@Mick ah but in this fandom…we must argue about EVERYTHING, mustn’t we? lol
I agree. Matt is saying from Neal’s perspective Emma IS his true love. Nothing new there. Honestly, Matt’s just doing a stand up job of trying to be fair to all the characters like a good unbiased reporter should be. He focused a little bit of time on everyone. It was refreshing.

ParticipantRG: Unfortunately I can’t see Tumblr at work so I can’t dissect any of that stuff with you right now. I’ll see if I can get it to come up on my phone and then react a little more with you in a few minutes! 😉

Well yeah, in that regard he has been an professional. lol We tend to forget what legitimate reporting looks like on paper without all the squeeing being injected into the articles for this show lol
Ah professionalism. It’s so nice.
