ParticipantSaw this on tumblr. Odd coincidences!
Was loving that Neil/Neal was a name derived from Barrie’s own life, then I got to the mention of Emma and almost fell outta my chair! Also, another bit of comment that was left on tumblr in regards to this stuff with the names…
I’ve now done more research; J.M. Barrie’s first name was James, his parents were David and Margaret, he married a woman called Mary. This is clearly not coincidence. The writers did some seriously thorough research. I am beyond impressed right now!

All the family names have been carried over into OUAT! Clever Kitswitz are clever. Why I’m writing this up in this thread though, is that I’ve seen people talking about 3.05 as the “anniversary” of Tallahassee and, actually, it is not. Emma and Hook did meet in 2.05, the Doctor, but their dynamic was much more competitive, as he was treated very much just as a threat there, just as all the Princesses (other than Aurora who had sympathy) reacted to him. Now what do I think this means? Well, I think it means that in a weird way, this THING is not hopefully going to play out and into the dynamics of Tallahassee. This is going to be a matter of conscience for Hook, in the past, and in the present, setting up his state of mind for the Ariel episode, which is actually in the same spot as last year’s Tallahassee.
My goggles have one SF lens and one Hookriel lens and they both approve this paragraph. 😉
Shippy spin headcannon time, but I wonder if just like Ruby is the Wolfe and Little Red, if they might be doing something funky to the extent they’re nodding to a movie they don’t have the rights to actually use the characters, such as TPB. So what if they sort of split Wesley into 2 parts, the Man in Black, and the Farm Boy “True First Love”. So Hook is the former, and Neal is the latter. It’s a clunky fit, but so is trying to shoehorn everything onto Hook given well, all the things we’ve seen him do, not to mention some of the things we guess are going to be shown in the next episode. It’s just a crazy idea, as I do not think they have the rights to actually re-imagine the story. Nods however, those they can get away with slipping in here and there.
Makes sense to me. There’s no way they’d be allowed to actually copy the story, but Princess Bride is an absolute classic that they wanna pay homage to nonetheless, so any time they can slip in a reference, they will. I dunno how technical copyright stuff is, but how closely would they be allowed to mirror the story without getting themselves into trouble? Having their version of The Man In Black say that particular line to a Princess and then having her eventually figure out what he’s really saying and return that love would be pretty close to just copying the Princess Bride story, so would they even be legally allowed to do that without risking getting themselves sued?

Interesting! Yes Clever Kitswitz is clever.

ParticipantJMo tweeted that she had a long day of shooting and it involved red leather. That leads me to think that 310 could possibly be Emma centric, and we’ll get flashbacks of her in the jacket. And I felt the need to post this in the SF thread because for a while now I’ve been thinking the reason she even has that red leather jacket is because of this jacket:
And so if we’re gonna maybe flashback to when she got her red jacket because it reminded her of Neal’s red jacket, this could potentially bode well for SFish stuff happening in present day. And if they release the name of the ep and it’s named after a city, I will absolutely flail because Tallahassee and Manhattan.October 25, 2013 at 9:12 am #218631RumplesGirl
KeymasterEver since we saw Nealfire with his leather coat which is a reddish brown, with red lining, I’ve wondered if Emma didn’t get her own red leather coat to remind her of him. Which would mean that she kept the pendant, the car, and then purchased a coat that is a more feminine version of Neal’s. (Yeah girl, you ain’t sentimental at all)
In regards to the tweet, I’m wondering if this is right after Emma is released and goes looking for Neal in Tallahassee. Maybe it’s her two years there? And even though she doesn’t need it in Florida, she keeps the jacket

That title would be a fantastic double entendre! Henry being born in Pheonix, AZ, could also signify him causing magic to be reborn. And if the way home is marked by a constellation map of the phoenix I will jump for joy. Simultaneously, the title could be mean the rebirth of the firebird in the form of Emma and Neal choosing their second chance! I’m already fan-girling and it’s only a hypothetical title at this stage. *Emma-Henry-Neal family feels*

KeymasterI love that we fangirl over hypothetical titles and sentimental jackets. 🙂

ParticipantI’m responding here to an article that RG posted in a different thread, because of my thoughts concerning CSF.
“Of course it’s flattering that someone is interested in whatever, but it’s not even registering with her because she’s concerned about saving her child,” Morrison says. “It just heightens the dynamic of everything going on that Hook is the one that’s helping her right now, and Hook is the one that’s present, and he’s the one who’s surprising her by following through with what he promises to do, and seems to be doing this very selflessly instead of selfishly. She’s definitely taken aback by how different he is than what she expected and definitely still thinks that Neal’s dead, but in her mind, all of its irrelevant because she’s just trying to get to Henry.”
In light of “the thing” between CS, I’ll share some thoughts. When I first read the emboldened words prior the 3×5 spoiler (pretty sure I’ve read this quotation before), I thought it meant NOT to expect “the thing.” Now that we know about it, I read Jennifer Morrison’s words in a new light. Clearly, Emma is aware and even flattered by Hook’s attentions. At first glance, her initiating “the thing” with him would suggest she reciprocates his feelings. Yet, Jennifer Morrison specifically said that his interest isn’t even registering with Emma since her focus is on finding Henry. In my mind, that could mean the kiss is just a kiss and is not to be interpreted as anything deeper than a heat-of-the-moment thing.
