I honestly find it incredibly hard to believe that A&E would 100% create this character and then just toss his death over to another writer. If they DID do that, then I’m just seriously disappointed in them, because you’d think they’d care more about a character they created themselves, and if they treat one of those characters like that, then how am I supposed to believe that they really give a damn about the rest of the characters

The entire episode was : we need Neal off the show for reasons so here have plot. Plot that makes no sense.

The only explanation is MRJ wanted out now. Storytelling and season arch would dictate that tonight was not the night for whatever master storyline A&E claim to tell, even if the death were somehow necessary which I don’t buy).

I think they created this character and then lost interest in him when they were able to “play with new toys”.   I hate to be a downer but I get the idea they don’t particularly like to write Belle, either.  She’s there because she’s a fan favorite, but otherwise, they love Rumple tortured, evil and alone.   Can’t have a twisted imp that has a loving partner and his son, now can we?

im with two friends they are crying and for one of them what is stressing was the trend last month, that everyone was like great, even adam and he was already dead, i must say that is very disrespect towards the fans.

I want so badly to agree with you guys on the ITS A TRAP but as I was watching and that was running through my mind, I realized how FINAL it was. The music, the scenes, it just felt so… so final.

    Yeah it is.

The only explanation is MRJ wanted out now. Storytelling and season arch would dictate that tonight was not the night for whatever master storyline A&E claim to tell, even if the death were somehow necessary which I don’t buy).

I think so too. MRJ wanted out  + changes in story based on how everyone was reacting to the triangle.

So they gave it a writer who churns out really lackluster episodes and then said, “yeah that’ll work” nobody will ask too many questions about this

Someone please explain to me how I keep watching this show now that they did such a horrible thing to such a good character and a good man (MRJ).

I just started crying talking to my husband about this. I’m crying for my disappointment in the show. The love is gone. Not even because Neal is gone. But because of how horrible it was handled.
It’s a devastating feeling knowing something that has meant so much to you and spoken to your heart just pulled a 180 on you. Like I said, I was prepared for Neal to die and continue watching the show. But now that they handled it like this I just can’t. I’m too disappointed in the concept of the show as a whole. And that is why I am crying.
If fans of the show who hated Neal are calling his death brilliantly handled and the fans of Neal HATE how it was handled…. that is a surefire sign of horrible writing. Seriously. The idea is to move fan’s hearts and do him justice so that way his fans are so moved and conflicted by his death. Kind of the same concept they use for villains such as Rumple. It’s tragic, but it doesn’t have to be absurd and inconsistent with your entire story. And it doesn’t have to be given to one of the lowest performing writers…..

I get it. People will be mad just because he died. But the majority of complaints I am seeing online are not BECAUSE he died. It’s how it was written. It’s the injustice. The inconsistencies.

The sign of good writing is even in devastation, is the closure.

Great episode tonight. Loved the sweet exchange between Emma and Neal.

Neal’s death was too easy. Perhaps it is a ruse to let Zelena think Nealfire is dead. I think A & E have written in the story that Rumple, Neal maybe Belle and Hook have planned this, as a way to defeat Zelena. Neal is not dumb as Zelena said early in the episode. Remember when Neal fooled Pan with the arrow! That takes clever intelligence.

Neal is under a sleeping spell and Emma’s TLK will awaken him as she awakened Henry.

Also, it appears the SWAN necklace is enchanted. Oh, I cannot believe A & E has written Neal out of this lovely fantasy tale. There is more to this than we are allowed to know.

The triangle was stupid and forced, but on the Hook side. At least Graham was believable. I even shipped August for a while (and I still grieve that idiotic resolution).

The horrible fan base has ruined this show in more ways than one.

it was a horrible way to go. It was ill conceived from start to finish

I want to believe this.  I really truly hope it is true but I just don’t think I have it in me right now to believe it.  I think I’m in mourning.  I also changed my avatar like RG.  Hope you don’t mind.
