ParticipantThere about 5 families I know who I talk about OUAT with often. They are not involved online in any means with the fandom. They are simply fans who watch every week. No spoilers, no nothing.
All of them root for Neal as Emma’s true love, and most were completely and utterly shocked about the kiss. They have no idea what shipping is, let alone all the ruckus online. And believe me, I don’t dare let them know everything that goes on…
I watched it with one of them, (it was their first time watching the ep) and they basically shouted at the screen before knowing about the kiss, when he was trying to bond with her in the cave, “shut up hook! she doesn’t want you!” lol
As far as they’re concerned, it has not been obvious, & it was shocking. They’re just regular viewers who watch every week, who follow the story as written. And from their perspective, it’s simple. Neal is Emma’s true love. <3
Keeper Nealfire's/Bae's scarf, Henry and Neal's bribery ice cream sundae, Baelfire's sword, the coconut map, and more.

It's always nice to hear from regular fans who appreciate true love for what it is, pure and simple, and not contrived (as that CS kiss surely was)."That’s how you know you’ve really got a home. When you leave it, there’s this feeling that you can’t shake. You just miss it." Neal Cassidy

ParticipantOn tumblr someone posted a screencap from the promo and wondered if it might be from a SF reunion scene, judging by both Snow’s and Hook’s expressions.

As large and passionate as the online fandom is, there are millions more viewers out there who are like your friends, just regular, casual viewers, who don’t pick the show apart and over analyse everything. I’m not surprised to hear that those kinds of viewers are on the SF train. This is the story of a fairytale princess who didn’t know she was a princess, and her love was torn apart by a curse. When you think of the story like that in its most basic form, the way that fairytales play out is that the princess ends up (re)united with her love. They’ve said that they’re not writing ships, they’re writing a story. Ships are a fandom thing, for a small portion of the viewership. The story is for the masses, which is mostly made up of people who just wanna see Emma get her happy ending.October 29, 2013 at 12:14 am #219664heatherc1275
ParticipantI haven’t gotten a chance to watch last night’s episode yet (all I do is go out of town on the weekends apparently…this is two in a row for me, LOL) but I feel the need to say two things. One, I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH. I swear I feel like the collective OUAT fandom has lost their minds most days but then I come here and you guys are all sane and lovely and practical I feel like I’m in my own personal Tallahassee. THANK YOU for being so awesome! *passes out cookies* 😀
Second, my least favorite shape EVER is a triangle (probably stemming from taking Geometry in high school and hating all those proofs I had to do with them along with the annoying insistence of writers to keep throwing them into all my fave TV shows) and it annoys me to NO END to see ABC, the media, and a crap load of the OUAT fandom focusing so much on a stupid, barely there, triangle when clearly this show is about SO MUCH MORE than Emma’s love life and I REALLY wish they hadn’t stooped to the ‘triangle’ level like so many other shows have done in the past (or present in the case of a few now). I expect better stuff out of Eddie & Adam but after reading some of your speculations, a handful of light spoilers, and knowing things that have all ready happened on the show, I’m hopeful that the overall story of season three will NOT be about that triangle but will go back to how these characters developed and grew over the season, learned to work together, learned to forgive each other, and eventually helped save each other from the ultimate villain. THAT would make this the best season ever. <3
/end rant.....I'm off to eat some cookies now. 😉

ParticipantI was pondering this quotation from the writers today, which I think is from the official “Manhattan” podcast:
“So for us it’s how do two people who love each other come together when there’s so much hurt?” – Eddy Kitsis
Since this story is all about hope and second chances, it just wouldn’t make sense for the writers now to say, “Sorry Neal, you had your shot with Emma and you blew it. Even though the curse wasn’t your fault and you scarified your own chance at happiness with Emma to get her home, you’re now ineligible even as a contender for Emma’s heart, much less destined to ever reconcile with her.” IMO, that line of reasoning that CSers use just flies in the face of the story I believe the writers are telling, which is a story about hope and overcoming old hurts. It’s a recurring theme of our entire story. Emma gets a second chance at being a mother to Henry. The Charmings are trying to atone for giving Emma up. Rumple wants a second chance with Bae. Regina secretly longs for a second chance at a happy ending. Hook is reconsidering having wasted his life on a constant pursuit of revenge. And Neal is longing for a family that he was denied when his father chose power over him and then again when his father’s dark curse kept him from living happily ever after with Emma the first time around.
To me, the story that Adam and Eddy are telling really is one of redemption. Whether or not all the characters get a chance to reform is another matter, but for Neal specifically, he’s not even a villain, nor has he ever wanted to cause anyone harm. He’s a victim of both his father’s Dark One curse and of the curse his father created to locate him. Neal is also the victim of Peter Pan’s scheming for him to have fathered Henry, the truest believer. After all the crud that Neal has been through, it would be unsatisfactory for Neal to be left out in the cold while Hook and Emma sail off into the sunset. That just would not sit well with me, even if I could learn to accept it.
With all the speculating about Wendy Darling being on the island, some CSers are latching onto that idea that she is destined for Neal. While I wouldn’t mind if Wendy turns out to be a match for Neal, I still believe he and Wendy are more like siblings. Perhaps teenage Baelfire did have a schoolboy crush on Wendy, but MRJ has said the love of Neal’s life is Emma. So, if he ended up with Wendy, it would be Neal’s second choice rather than his first. I just don’t want to see a nice guy like Neal come in after the heart-throb bad boy, as is the stereotype. Adam and Eddy may reform Hook into a decent man of honor after all, and I hope his character development continues, but Neal is sort of an everyday hero. He may not have all the charms and swag of guyliner-wearing pirate, but he has the heart of a hero, as surely as David, a sheep herder, does. Both David and Neal come from humble backgrounds, and both are in love with fairytale princesses. I hope that Neal is able to overcome his own abandonment issues to captive her again. As I’ve said before, Neal already holds the key to Emma’s heart. He only needs to unlock it.

KeymasterI miss when this show wasn’t delving into Soap Opera territory.
Preach. I know true love and love in general is major theme in this show but for the past two weeks every spoiler was about this triangle and I wanted to scream, “THERE IS A STORY HAPPENING HERE!”

She is also being played by an 18yr old who is going to be between the ages 0f 13-18. I feel like that’s important, though I hark on Ship and Let Ship

ParticipantWe’ve been saying for ages that Hook will have a choice, to try and be with Emma despite it hurting Nealfire, or to do the respectful thing and step back. So I LOVE that they’ve put Hook in a situation where he has to make that choice, but with the added layer of knowing the truth and the choice to tell or not. I may or may not have actually said out loud, “Thank you Pan, love your style,” and may or may not have even applauded. This will be the ultimate test of Hook’s character, and how he truly feels about Nealfire. Bae once told Hook that he’ll never change, and Hook replied that he could change, for him. Now he’s getting another chance, and I hope he takes it, and proves Bae’s statement wrong.
Given the recent spoiler, we know that Hook, Emma and her parents attempt to save Neal from Pan’s encampment in 3×6. What we still don’t know is who first tells Emma about Neal still being alive and in NL. Does Hook come clean first or does someone else beat him to the punch? From the sounds of it, Hook will still prove to do the honorable thing by helping Emma get back Neal, but we don’t know how forthcoming he’ll be initially. Hook may step up only after someone else beats him to the punch telling everyone that Neal is alive. I want to give Hook the benefit of the doubt, but something tells me he’s going to be wrestling with this moral quandary for at least part of the next episode.

the next episode is written by Kitswitz and they do love a good moral quandary. I think it’s going to be incredibly hard for Hook to make this decision.
