The thing is that the curse would have never happened with out Rumpel, not only did he give it to the queen but he also helped her enact it, so it makes no sense to me that he would do either of those things if he can see the future and his goal is to end the curse.
I believe that the curse would have happened whether he “helped” Regina or not. It was SO OBVIOUS what she did wrong that she WOULD have figured it out eventually. She’s not stupid–she was just lazy and didn’t take the time to think it through; but if he’d refused to “help” she would’ve gone over it again and figured it out. So therefore why make her mad when you could just answer her question and get a sweet deal out of it to boot? He’s the type to take advantage/make the best of every situation. That’s all he was doing.
As for giving it to her in the first place, I don’t think that he traded it to her planning to break it in the future because you’re right the best way to avoid that would be to not trade it. But he probably got something REALLY good out of that deal. And apparently he traded it to her when she had no plans of using it because if she had planned on using it back then she would not have traded it afterwards to Maleficent. Plus, he may have thought “If she uses it, I’ll deal with it then.” And now that she has he is.

I think that EQ is ACTIVELY MANIPULATING things in Storybrook; but Mr Gold is affecting thing in a subtle backstage kind of way ; like a puppet master. He sets the characters on the stage and lets things develop. If he does not like how things develop he interferes in the background again.
That’s really cool. I can agree with that.

I haven’t seen much evidence that he is doing anything for the long game. I don’t believe he can see the future. There are just too many times when he doesn’t know things like where the fairy godmother was or that the queen is lying about Belle being dead unless the idea is that he is faking all of those things for his own purposes.

but with a good stageyist you would not even KNOW there is a strategy and you are being manipulated.

As far as I could tell the only person Emma told about her early childhood was Henry. She told him that her parents abandoned her on the side of the freeway and that she spent three years with a foster family who gave her up when they were able to have kids of their own and then she was put into the system. I’m assuming that Regina was able to get that information when she got the details on Emma’s background but it doesn’t explain how Mr. Gold would know anything about Emma’s childhood. In the Cinderella episode, when he asks Emma to help him find Ashley so he doesn’t have to have Ashley arrested and the baby put in the system he tells Emma that he knows she wouldn’t want that for the baby since she knows what the system was like since she spent time in foster care. Back in FTL all Rumple seemed to know was that Snow and PC’s daughter’s name was Emma and that on her 28th birthday she would return to be the savior who would break the curse. But for all Mr. Gold knows she could have been found as an infant and immediately adopted by parents. It seems to me that Mr. Gold had somehow been keeping tabs on Emma throughout her life and that he was very aware of exactly who Henry was when he brought him to Regina. Whether he was able to predict what Emma’s life was going to be like or whether he was actually able to follow her life outside of Storybrooke either himself or with the help of someone else (his son, AWB??) I don’t know. So did Mr. Gold actually bring Emma to Regina or did someone else bring Emma into Storybrooke to Mr. Gold who then gave him to Regina??
February 26, 2012 at 6:32 pm #137719miaParticipantYou mean Henry. 😉 Bring Henry to Regina.
Well, we still don’t know if it really is impossible for anyone to leave SB. Would really anything bad happen, if Regina or Mr. Gold left? We simply can’t tell at this point, so there’s really no way knowing how he got Henry. But in my opinion it’s safe to say he knew exactly who Henry was and he did somehow follow Emma’s childhood/teen years.
Then again I just remembered that we don’t really know if he knew about FTL before Emma got there and time started to flow again …Sry, I guess I’m just raising more questions. xD

Ep 9: True North. Emma was looking at her file.
Is that a picture of EMMA ??? I keep thinking it is a little girl as I see pigtails / braids. See the light area that sticks back behind her head.
Others who have seen this picture say it is the little boy who found her.
What do you think..
