Like i said, i think that Emma is just Emma, Snow and Charming’s heir which, of course, makes her a princess. I just think that she is going to do a lot of things that happen in classic fairy tales like all of the similarities to Sleeping Beauty in the last episode and the hints at Snow White’s story with the apple tart. And i think they are going to continue with that especially now that she believes. I don’t think that makes her any of those characters because she is supposed to be a new fairytale character, but then again a lot fairytales have similarities in the story. Like the prince finds the girl or the regular boy that becomes a king and such. And i think Emma will do a lot of those things as the series goes along.

I never connected Emma to the Swan Princess, probably because Disney didn’t do that movie. And her name was Odette. My neice used to be obsessed with that movie. I always thought the Swan referred to The Ugly Duckling. In that story, the ugly ducking felt left out and like it didn’t belong. It was never really part of the group. Then it grew up into a beautiful swan and found it’s own kind and happiness. That’s Emma. She didn’t belong to anyone as a child or up till now. She’s finally blossoming into a swan and has found her family and place in the world.
That’s Swan Lake not Swan Princess. Disney did do Swan Princess and is based on Swan Lake.
It wasn’t the Disney company. I know my Disney shows. It was another movie company, but not Disney.

You’re correct that it’s based on Swan Lake, but her name was Odette in The Swan Princess, too. I still know most of the songs and have a copy somewhere. I must of had to watch it a million times. My neice used to be in love with Prince Derek and loved the “Princesses on Parade” scene while my nephew loved Rothbart.
And I didn’t mean that she was actually the Ugly Duckling in the story, just that it sums up what her character has been through and the connection to the name Swan and why they picked it.

Yes, the Swan Lake is by another company, which may be difficult getting the rights of if the creators would like to take Emma’s character there.
I think it was Once Upon a Time wiki did I see an interview saying that Adam named Emma, Emma “Swan” because of the tale of the Ugly Duckling. So Josephine is right on the eye there.
Also, could Emma may be the Black Swan from Swan Lake? She may also be the White Swan too, but her and Regina have a lot in common.
One: both their lovers got their heart crushed (Graham and Daniel). Two both adore Henry. Both have similar taste in men (Graham). Both have strong and vengeful personalities (Regina with Snow White and Emma now with Regina (she did say she was going to take someone that she loves)). Both have magic.
I’m pretty sure next season Emma is going to have a battle not only with Regina and all the mean people of storybrooke, but also herself.

Point taken on Swan Princess. Disney list ten official princesses. Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahantas, Mulan, Tiana and Rapunzel.
June 6, 2012 at 4:46 am #148406hjbauParticipantWho is Tiana?
June 6, 2012 at 12:37 pm #148412June 7, 2012 at 12:17 am #148434hjbauParticipantOh right. I have seen that one once.
June 7, 2012 at 12:52 am #148437JosephineParticipantI haven’t seen it, either. I meant to catch it on the Disney Channel last month when they were playing it, but I missed it. I was a little disappointed they didn’t go with the original fairy tale, but then I haven’t seen it so I really can’t make an opinion. Come to think of it, I’ve never seen Mulan, either. 🙄

June 7, 2012 at 3:20 am #148448hjbauParticipantI didn’t really like the Princess and the Frog. I think that the bad guy was like a voodoo guy and the story took place in New Orleans which was just weird. And the songs weren’t good. I think there was one song that was alright, but the rest weren’t good. Though i think that has been a major problem with recent disney films. The songs just aren’t that great.
June 7, 2012 at 12:26 pm #148450JosephineParticipantI agree with you, hjbau, about the songs recently not being as good, but I was really shocked at how much I loved Tangled. Even though it was computer animated, it just felt like the older disney movies. The songs were catchy, the story was good, and I really enjoyed it, when I didn’t think I would.
Oh, if they do Flynn Ryder, they could bring Zachery Levi to play the part. Hehe. Seriously, he’s the only one to do it, and Chuck is now off the air. Come on, scoop him up.
